[Unattended] A helpful hint about macromedia stuff - flash and shockwave
I was hunting around on their site and found out that if you agree to a license agreement and fillout an online form for your organization, they will give you a link to a place that you can get either an .exe installer or an .msi installer. Thought this might be helpfull to all here. Scott Adams
RE: [Unattended] PXE boot stops before searching DHCP during failed install
We have a similar sort of problem with some ergo laptops, in which the network card can become disabled if not shut down correctly - we had to use the utility from the nic manufacturer to reset the card so that the unattended build would continue - the giveaway was that the bios reported a media disconnected message before continuing to boot locally. You may have a similar issue Regards Kevin Lawry -Original Message- From: Remi Woler [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 02 December 2004 14:29 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Unattended] PXE boot stops before searching DHCP during failed install Hello. First of all I would like to thank the developer for his great work. It saves us a lot of time, while performing lots of linux installs (PXE+dhcpd+tftp+nfs) controlled by a web interface. Occasionaly there is a windows install too (Windows 2003). While watching the monitor (it is still in a testing setup) i noticed that somehow the PXE boot rom was temporarily disabled during the install. I have no idea who is disabling it, but it quits the boot rom right after loading, and before searching for DHCP servers. I kinda ignored it, because it was of no use to boot from lan, because it should continue the install, without getting into an end-less loop. But now this 'feature' caused serious trouble. Because the setup wasn't finished, the boot rom has not been restored. The whole machhine just won't boot of the network anymore. It loads the PXED boot rom, and quits right there, and starts booting from the next device. I tried disabling/re-enabling the bootrom in the BIOS, I even cleared the CMOS. But that stupid boot rom keeps quitting, and the box won't boot from network anymore. I really hope someone of this list could help me out on this brain-eating issue. RE: [Unattended] A helpful hint about macromedia stuff - flash andshockwave
I checked those and they rely on the download version, I wanted a version that would not have all my computers having to hit the internet all at the same time, our IT director get a little upset when this happens, and I found this on the macromedia site, it is a full install no downloading required and it is both installers in one file. Also not sure if there is a script for quicktime 6, realplayer 10 and media player 10, but I found the following on these: http://www.mediamacros.com/item/item-1006687115/ http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=30256 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=19191 -Original Message- From: imdos [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Fri 12/3/2004 10:28 AM To: Scott Adams Cc: Subject:Re: [Unattended] A helpful hint about macromedia stuff - flash andshockwave There is already a script available for both! :: OPTIONAL: Install Flash 7.0.19.0 :: ::URL|ALL|http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/flash/english/win95nt/7.0.19.0/flashplayer7installer.exe|packages/macromedia/flashplayer7installer.exe :: :: Download from http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ @Echo off todo.pl %Z%\packages\macromedia\flashplayer7installer.exe /s :: Install Shockwave10 player ::URL|ALL|http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/10.0.0.210/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe|packages/macromedia/shockwave_installer_full.exe :: :: Download from http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ @Echo off todo.pl %Z%\packages\macromedia\shockwave_installer_full.exe /s On Fri, 2004-12-03 at 17:08, Scott Adams wrote: I was hunting around on their site and found out that if you agree to a license agreement and fillout an online form for your organization, they will give you a link to a place that you can get either an .exe installer or an .msi installer. RE: [Unattended] OK, couple of new problems/questions
Scott, I had a similar problem and found that my admin password wasn't compatible with the linux install method -- when I used a simpler password everything worked. I didn't spend too much time working on the problem but I assumed that the samba client must not have liked it. Now, months later I have found that windows doesn't like that password sometimes either -- eh, no worries. Anyway, check if there may be some 'weird' characters in your password and test it with something simple. All this assumes that you have put the data into your unattend.txt correctly: [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=YOURPASS [Identification] JoinDomain=YOURDOMAIN DomainAdmin=YOURDOMAIN\someaccount DomainAdminPassword=somepass Good luck. Only two questions, or maybe they would be problems, I put the administrator password in the unattend.txt file but it still asks for it and if I do not enter anything then it is blank when the machine finishes the install, I am assuming this is a problem with something not picking up the adminpassword from the unattend.txt or some such. The second is a question, what file do I put the //server/folder (//ntinstall/install change) and the userid and password so that I do not have to enter them all the time, remember I am using the linuxboot method. RE: [Unattended] OK, couple of new problems/questions
Scott. To change the server name and login id during the linux boot process you will need to use an application to extract the linuxboot.iso file so you can edit it then re-create the .iso so you can finally reburn a new cd. Do a search on the group for .iso modification. Let me know if you can't find it and I will look it up at work. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Don Morrison Sent: Friday, December 03, 2004 2:14 PM To: Scott Adams Cc: Unattended Info ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Subject: RE: [Unattended] OK, couple of new problems/questions Scott, I had a similar problem and found that my admin password wasn't compatible with the linux install method -- when I used a simpler password everything worked.
