[UC] ...and another thing

2008-02-16 Thread Frank
When I mentioned the community service I've done I forgot that I also
currently volunteer at the Gay and Lesbian Archives of Philadelphia at
the William Way LGBT Community Center. We're usually there on
Wednesday nights. Our space is just above the rehearsal space for the
Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus who, as Patrick Starr said, rehearse on
Wednesday nights. We endure their lifeless drone for several hours a
week. When I told one of my co-volunteers that Mr. Starr liked the
Campus Inn project so much that he felt compelled to miss rehearsal to
speak to us about it, he said, "How can we get the rest of the chorus
involved?"

Re: [UC] ...and another thing

2007-05-26 Thread Frank

Did I say anything about a conspiracy?

I found the timing of the creation of the Friends web site a bit odd
but I think the blogger may have explained that adequately. He had a
personal blog about Malcolm X Park which Action News mistook for an
"official" park web site. To correct this mistaken impression, he
created an actual official web site. I'm sure he has taken some heat
for the rally posting and did his best to fix what he could. I'm glad
he didn't just take down the blog entry and video. (No! That's just
what they're expecting us to do!!)

What I do think is strange is that Greg Smith, who I've never noticed
on the listserv before, pointed out the Friends blog mere hours after
it was registered as a domain.

sweet barking cheese! Ross, get out to the park and buy something that'll
counteract the amyl -- you can't take one right after another like this, it's
sheer madness! These are high-potency test-drugs, meant for lethargic elephants

What park, Cassidy?? I trust you don't mean our lovely local Clark Park, in
University City? They don't sell stuff there anymore, remember? Not even
allergy remedies. Not since Judy Judy bobudy bonanabana Budy fee fie fo Fudy
Judy Rodin rode in on her Market Forces and cleaned the place up. Although
if a remnant of the old bad days of whores and drug vendors still exists in
some secret corner, just say the word. You're right - I need something to
slow me down -- I've been imbibing Shirley Temples all morning AND NOTHING
HAPPENS. What's that? Under the turtle? Gotcha. Thanks, dude.

And as I was saying, who was YOUR favorite actor/actress in THE GREEN BIRD
last night? Speaking from the heart, my feeling is that what that little
revue need is more WOMEN, dressed as such, and fewer men dressed up as
women, if you take my meaning.

Re: [UC] ...and another thing

2007-05-27 Thread Greg Smith
Frank,

No, I don't post a lot and if Fenton weren't involved I would be content to
watch evidence that should be questioned pass into fact. I was being polite in
attributing the misperception of the website to Action News instead of you.

Whenever the official Friends site was created is irrelevant to the question of
whether or not the .ORG website was a personal blog, it is and remains so, and
anything posted there should be viewed in that context. I was also not
indicting the creator of that blog and it seemed pretty clear to me that it was
a personal blog from someone concerned about the park.

Also, in another post, you passed on information that might be mistaken as fact
when you wrote:

If going above and beyond means putting up
campaign posters at a
church fair, I'm going to complain every time.

Frank

Well, it'd be silly and irrelevant to complain about that because neither of
the students involved have stated
they put up campaign posters. I just didn't want your misperception to become
facts for others - like the friend
I called (we moved to Tacoma, WA in January) who had no knowledge of the whole
controversy or even
who John Fenton was despite having lived in UC over 5 years.

BTW, who are the "they" and "us" when your write below that you're glad the
video on the website
remains?
