Ricky, A few years ago, I saw an African guy on a documentary asked the question, "how can the American people help Africa." To paraphrase he responded, take back your country! It may sound strange, at first, from a brother with little material wealth. But, if we had the revolution of values as King called for, and studied the people's history as Howard Zinn taught; we would have an Empire of Compassion invading Haiti right now, instead of the Chicago boys! The 700 US military bases on foreign soil would be centers for humanitarian and rescue missions. (I'd happily pay international taxes for that, instead of for horrific occupations, terrorism, and killing innocents from the skies.) Today is the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Greensboro sit-in. Sitting in or standing up for the oppressed people of the world, every day, is a courageous non-violent way to really make a difference in 2010. Non-violence and justice, 365 days per year, is the most important path for patriots and humanitarians around the world. Those who want to stop asking, "but what can I do," need to take up the battle for freedom, ethics, and democracy in Clark Park, Spruce Hill, and Philadelphia. If we take back Spruce Hill, our brothers and sisters can also win at Bunker Hill, South Chicago, and Port-au-Prince! The only way to really help the suffering people and the dying planet is to take back our country with a revolution of values! Time is short.
