yes, I expect it's something like that, just want to know for sure from
someone involved in creating the builds...

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Debian software source repository not listing 7.4.1

2009-10-26 Thread aubuti

A delay of a few days to update the debian repos seems to be a common
occurrence, although some releases are better than others in this
regard. You could open a bug for it at http://bugs.slimdevices.com to
make sure it stays on the developers' radar screen, but check first to
see if there is an existing bug (I couldn't find one). Until that's
addressed, you're left with either (1) waiting for the repo to be
updated, or (2) downloading the .deb and installing via dpkg. Depending
on how badly I want the new release, either works fine for me.

2009-10-26 Thread pablolie

My oh my. After going through 7.4.0 I am now reasonably happy I have
things working well with 7.4.1, a few kinks excepted.

However, I am staying right here for a while. I was hesitant to move to
9.10 (even though I am curious about improved UI) and this thread
confirms it. The next stable will be my next release for the SBS main
home media server. It's working just fine right now.

[SlimDevices: Unix] 7.4.1 on Ubuntu Jaunty - won't start

2009-10-26 Thread jasonwryan

I had to reinstall Ubuntu this weekend and when I downloaded
Squeezeboxserver 7.4.1 it refuses to start, throwing the error:

Code:

Slim::Schema::forceCommit (1600) Warning: Trying to commit transactions
before DB is initialized!

I have googled around, but have been unable to find a fix - has anyone
else encountered this and solved it?

[SlimDevices: Unix] Debian software source repository not listing 7.4.1

2009-10-26 Thread cocjh1

Noticed the debian source repository has not been updated to offer 7.4.1
on stable:
http://debian.slimdevices.com/dists/stable/main/binary-i386/

Is this going to happen? I could do a manual install but would prefer
to use the update manager..

Ta,

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 7.4.1 on Ubuntu Jaunty - won't start

2009-10-26 Thread jasonwryan

Thanks Pablo,

I have tries stopping and starting the server. I have purged it and
reinstalled - just to make sure...

This is, to put it mildly, extremely frustrating. It is probably
something quite simple, but I just can't crack it.

EDIT: Just downgraded to 7.3.3 to see if that worked (as it used to).
Same symptom, different error:

Code:

Slim::Schema::init (141) Error: Couldn't connect to database! Fatal error:
[] Exiting!

It would seem that the common factor is the mysql database...

Anybody have an idea?

there appears to be a problem with karmic and nobody seems to want to
acknowledge the problem.

I haven't found a way to reinstall squeezebox server without breaking

I have tired to get a response to this problem at squeezebox bugs and

I have also seen a complaint from a ubuntu user as well. If no-one does
anything about this the poo will hit the rotating thing when people
start to upgrade to 9.10 on friday.

The chaps have picked up this bug now.

I would suggest that people using ubuntu or kubuntu should hold back
from 9.10 until this issue has been dealt with. (unless you can fix the
problem yourself).

This is good advice in all cases. Let someone else be the first to
install a new release. Wait a month and someone else will have found
most of the bugs.

[SlimDevices: Unix] Where is my usb drive?

2009-10-26 Thread chn68b

Hi

Just installed ubuntu 8.10 and its all up and running, downloaded and
installed squeezebox server and just going through the setup...when it
asks for the music folder I cannot for the life of me find my USB drive
in the list and not sure what to put into the path?

Its mounted and shows on the desktop as FREECOM HDD and the folder I
want is simply named music. The Mount Point listed in the volume tab for
the usb drive is /media/FREECOM HDD which doesn't seem to work, so I'm
assuming the path should be /media/FREECOM HDD/music, but in the
squeezebox list media only shows the 2 cdrom drives. I can access the
drive fine from the deskop and places.

Any ideas?

Which mysql version is giving the problems?

I'm running latest debian squeeze testing with MySQL: 5.1.37-2

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Where is my usb drive?

2009-10-26 Thread aubuti

The first thing I would check is the file permissions on the USB drive.
The files and folders have to be readable by user squeezeboxserver,
which is the username under which SBS runs. If you make the folders and
files on the USB drive world-readable (directories mode 755, files mode
644) you should be okay. Of course, also make sure that squeezeboxserver
can read the higher level directories /media and /media/FREECOM HDD

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezeboxserver, Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic, and MySQL

2009-10-26 Thread mudlark

the problem that I am suffering is that the deb won't install with
Mysql5.1 in place. A fix is on the way. I would guess that if you
install mysql 5.1 after the deb then it will work ok. Kubuntu 9.10
removes sbs at present and cannot be installed simply with the deb. If
you can get sbs running it works ok with 5.1 so might not be a problem
for you.
