Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezeboxserver - Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, crash
Just to balance the equation slightly: I've had this working without any problems for a couple of weeks or so. I did however, start from scratch with a fresh install of karmic beta (now upgraded to rc) mainly to allow an uprade to the new ext4 file system and a seperate hd for music. At the same time I installed 7.4.0 which I have now upgrade to 7.4.1. No problems whatsoever database or otherwise - I also use vnc/vinaigre to remotely manage the server PC from my home PC - this seems to be better in karmic but maybe I missed it in jaunty. Karmic also installed on both my wife's PC and my PC - without problems. -- ian_heys ian_heys's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2629 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70411 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

The fix has been applied to the unstable branch (7.5.0 29017), but I would suggest that you hold fire until it makes the 7.4.2 (testing) branch. [SlimDevices: Unix] Ubuntu: update offers new SBS but no info
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 (64-bit) and I'm getting a prompt to upgrade SBS in the Update Manager. There is no information at all about what the new version is, it just says Failed to detect distribution. There's no indication it's 7.4.1, what changes were done, etc. as with most other updates. Does this have to do with the way the .deb is packaged? Should I file a bug? This has been like this for a long time. You can see which version is installed and the latest by going into: SystemAdministrationSynaptic Package Manager, enter squeezebox into the search box and read off the details on the appropriate line. -- Ramage P2 266MHz, ubuntu server 9.04 SBS 7.4.2 r28987 AMD64x2 ubuntu 9.04, SBS 7.4.2 r28987 Dell 10v WinXP SBS 7.4.1-28916 Players: Classic, Duet, Boom Ramage's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5343 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70471 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] 7.4.1 Failed on Linux (Cent OS 5)
Anyone have any idea on this: Clean install of 7.4.1 (7.3.x removed per instructions) Appears to install just fine and start OK but subsystem locked and no sign of application. System was rebooted to make sure no older mysql or instances floating around killing stuff. Get this error reported: runuser: Use of uninitialized value in subroutine entry at /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/YAML/Syck.pm line 75 Not sure what else to tell you - I finally reverted to 7.3.1-1 and restored config from an old backup. [SlimDevices: Unix] which files does slimuser need write access to?
Hi, I need advice on fine tuning some directory permissions of a 7.4.1 installation (on slackware): The server runs as user slimuser. I've extracted from the tarball, and as per the usual practice of separating the application code from runtime files I've: * relocated obviously runtime data files, as defined by the server flags --logdir, --prefsdir, --cachedir into various dirs under /var, and changed their ownership to slimuser * left the main tree (/opt/squeezeboxserver) owned by root, readonly for slimuser (this directory contains the rest of the tarball, ie. slimserver.pl, Bin, CPAN, MySQL, et al) This is working fine but I'm wary that sooner or later the server, running as slimuser, will expect to be able to write into /opt/squeezeboxserver. I notice for example that the redhat install relocates the various .conf files into /etc/squeezeboxserver. Can anyone advise on whether these .conf files and/or any others need to be writeable by slimuser? -- slackgraham slackgraham's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24814 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70477 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezeboxserver - Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, crash
There seems to be a way round the problems with ubuntu. MySQL upgrade In Ubuntu 9.10 MySQL 5.1 has been promoted as the default MySQL server. MySQL 5.0 is still available from the universe repository though. Performing an upgrade via update-manager will correctly handle the transition from MySQL 5.0 to MySQL 5.1. However using a dist-upgrade will not: mysql-server-5.0 will be upgraded instead of being replaced by mysql-server-5.1. If MySQL 5.0 needs to be kept the mysql-server and mysql-client packages should be removed before the upgrade is started. I nicked this from the ubuntu site. .deb-packages use a particular changelog-format which Logitech does not use. I guess they could, but it would require an update to the packaging of the .deb. -- bhaagensen bhaagensen's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7418 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70471 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
