Steve, I think we still have some issues with the optical out and
specific DAC's. It works with some, but not with others.

Try

Code:

  sudo iecset -c1 professional on

Does that make any difference with the M2?

Nothing in particular. All of the incremental package updates, we've
used already. (Well, I have.)

It boots! That's the important part. ;)

Correct, but you'd also have to download/use the CPAN modules for 7.8
(which are currently the same as for 7.7 unless you use perl 5,18, but
still, just to be on the safe side...)
I've updated the guide to include the url where you can find them, and
also added a paragraph outlining a better method to use the latest LMS
code.

Just to report I have been running 24hrs+ with no problems now,
previously I would have gotten my distortion problem within 12 hours.

I tried a few things but what seems to have done the trick is starting
squeezelite with -o iec958:CARD=Audio,DEV=0 this is specifically the
SPDIF output of the USB chip (CM6631), that seemed to make sense as my
box is USB>SPDIF rather than a full DAC. To be honest I really do not
understand what difference this would make from using "sysdefault" and I
have seen others use "front" but it seems to make sense in terms of how
I am using the USB chip and seems to have worked for now.

If anybody has an understanding of the effect of using the different
devices that your USB chip shows up I would be interested!

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1

2013-09-10 Thread JackOfAll

This F19-R2 (Release 2) updates the F19-R1 image. It's more of a refresh
than an update. Updated Fedora system packages, (around 200 or so since
R1), latest versions of CS packages, (kernel, LMS, squeezelite,
jivelite, web), enable the NetworkManager-dispatcher service, and
install one new package, (imx-sdma-firmware).

'CSOS-Wandboard-Quad-F19-R2-20130910-1.img.7z'

*If already running the F19-R1 image, there is no need to start again
from F19-R2 image.*

To update to F19-R2 status from F19-R1 image...

Code:

  sudo csos-cleanUpdate-testing
  sudo csos-cleanInstall imx-sdma-firmware
  sudo systemctl enable NetworkManager-dispatcher
  sync
  sudo reboot

I would appreciate anyone with a spare 8GB card if you could download
the R2 image, and give it a quick test.

PS. At the moment the images are on the secondary web server. I won't
upload to the main server and change the links from the front page until
we have a couple of success reports!

Although this is useful, it is not suggested to use WEP nowadays. If the
traffic between your router and your client is large enough, I could get
