mmmhh, maby i was too optimistic.

Sometimes it works, most of the times not.

What it looks like (but not for sure):
When i play the stream before rebooting it restarts after that. Oké.
But when i was listening to an other radio station before a reboot,
after rebooting the expected stream is loaded into LMS, but paused.

2014-10-01 Thread Greg Erskine

Hi All,

I just did another "Auto start LMS" test using "production"
piCorePlayer1.18

Initial conditions: playing random playlist
Expected reboot conditions: streaming radio station ABC

Ok

Typed "192.168.1.101" into Squeezelite server IP (no port number, do not
type quotes)

Clicked [Submit]

Cut and pasted "playlist play
http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s99312&formats=aac,ogg,mp3&partnerId=16&serial=05edb36d50ac02d1d1eeaa23a487968a";
into Auto start LMS (do not type quotes)

Clicked [Submit]

Clicked [Reboot]

Result: Music stops, piCorePlayer reboots, radio starts.

Am I doing something unusual? I can't see any reason why it always works
for me but not for anyone else.

regards
Greg

My advice to everyone is NOT to use port numbers anywhere. Squeezelite
and LMS use 5 or 6 port numbers and most people don't know what they are
and when to use them. If you leave them out, everything just uses the
default port numbers (and work).

Has anyone gone into LMS and set custom port numbers ?

The start, stop, volume and so on buttons will only work if there is an
active playlist. Did you have an active playlist? The Random button will
generate one if you don't want to use another interface.
BTW: Do NOT put a port number into the "Squeezelite server IP".

> OK, activated debug logging. How do I get at the created logfiles?

I think log file are written to USB stick.

> It shows me a short error at startup right on the webinterface. It says

> startup order?

The web interface comes up a second or two before Squeezelite. So if you
are there hitting refresh while piCorePlayer is booting you will
possibly get the "Squeezelite not started" error message for a second or
two.

The order is correct. You need to establish the communication interfaces
(dropbear and http) before the squeezelite starts. This is because if
something hangs during the start process you want to use the web
interface to correct the settings. If that fails, you can use ssh via
dropbear. Failing that, you have to you use a terminal and keyboard via
HDMI.

I added the Squeezelite running check because people were setting
invalid Squeezelite settings that prevented Squeezelite from running.
They then spend hours or days trying to get music when Squeezelite was
not even running.

Greg

So in the begining it works but after some time I get this terrible

Problems started when I changed from manually installed squeezlite to
the one I found on the synaptic repository. Tried both squeezelite and

uninstalling, and reinstalling

On the squeezelite settings page did your remember to specify the port

Have you set "Squeezelite server IP" in Squeezelite Settings? The
command needs to know which server your piCorePlayer is talking too.
This will also activate simple LMS "Controls".

Thanks for testing, I'll add more information in future pCP updates!

[SlimDevices: Unix] Xubuntu 14.04 & startup sequence of LMS

2014-10-01 Thread zordaz

I am running LMS 7.8.0 on a Xubuntu 14.04 server installation and am I
having an issue with the startup sequence of the network and LMS.
LMS, by default on my system, starts before the network interfaces.
Therefore LMS is not able to log into mysqueezebox.com automatically.
This means that I am not able to listen to Internet Radio.

The network interfaces of my server are managed by NetworkManager and I
don't want to change that. As a workaround I have added a restart of LMS
in /etc/rc.local, but this is not a very nice solution IMHO.
Is there a better solution for my problem possible?

As far as I understand LMS is using traditional start/stop scripts and
is not using upstart or other init-daemons technics, maybe that
complicates the situation?

[SlimDevices: Unix] LMS 7.8+ on Ubuntu Server 14.04.1 LTS w/ MySQL

2014-10-01 Thread fizze

Hiya, I've recently upgraded to Ubuntu Server 14.04.1 LTS and found LMS
not working. If you don't use a MySQL DB it will work fine, because it's
complaining about the version of DBD::mysql.

Turns out the version of DBD::mysql supplied with Ubuntu Server 14.04.1
LTS is not compatible with LMS. I've tried 7.8.0 and 7.9.0 to no avail.
The only solution was to download and compile the correct version of
DBD::mysql from CPAN here:
https://metacpan.org/pod/release/CAPTTOFU/DBD-mysql-4.025/lib/DBD/mysql.pm
Do the classic perl Makefile.PL && make && make install.

Just thought I'd share it here in case anyone else is stumped.

"garbage sound" ist nice but after 2-3 minutes (of what?) is quite
heavy:confused:

Hmm squeezelite (and a little older Version 1.4 too) on a synaptic
respository which one?

First the audio was disabled for anything else then squeezelite. I was
explained that it was normal even though as I use the program on a
general purpose computer

Hmm what did you changed?

AFAIK, shouldn't make a blind bit of difference. When squeezelite opens
ALSA and sets buffer size and period count, it should be being used,
regrdless of whether using "hw" directly, "plughw", etc.etc.

@SamS
I think Hifiberry runs with the "hw" config in Picoreplayer and ignores
any Alsa Buffer settings. Maybe it has it's own way of handling
buffering, but Ibsimply don't know.
You won't notice any side effects of running Alsa Buffer of 160:4, even
higher values carry no risk. When playing synched tracks, it might be a
problem if players have different buffer settings though.

@Greg Erskine
Can I used the new "autostart" feature to start the last played stream
by simply entering a "play" command as parameter?
