Thanks for the kind words.

I agree with Pascal Hibon.

With piCorePlayer you can simply pull the plug or if you want a nice
button, then simply use a good looking power button that cuts the power.

As piCorePlayer is running in RAM you won't corrupt your SD-card and
when it boots you will have the same setup as when you killed it.

If you want to use a script for powering down piCorePlayer (which really
is not needed) then you can easily make it persistent, by telling
piCorePlayer where your script is located (add this directory to
/opt/.filetool.lst) then save it by: sudo filetool.sh -b.

Then your script is saved and will survive a reboot.

Why not just switch the power supply to the PI. One of the advantages of
using picoplayer is that it runs in RAM memory and it is safe to cut the
power without issuing a proper shutdown command.

Thanks Alastair,

First off the scripts are basic scripts that will run on piCorePlayer
with little or no modification. Most of the scripts I looked at are just
shell scripts, although wiringPi was used in one, it is unnecessary.

I don't really understand why you need the extra hardware. All you need
is a pushbutton, a led and a few resistors.

Please state exactly what you want to achieve, I might of missed the
point.

 Thanks.

No, sorry. For some unknown reason my pc refused to boot from the
opensuse installation cd. However it booted from disks of other
distributions. I burned three opensuse disks before realizing it was not
a problem of the burning. I also tried the net installation cd, it
didn't boot either. Something weird, maybe the drive needed a firmare
update, or the dvd drive is not working well, I don't know. In fact the
dvd of the 13.1 which I used to install it some time ago didn't boot
this time. As the pc is an old one it was not possible to boot from usb.
Finally I gave up and installed LUBUNTU (a 'light' version of ubuntu
that needs small resources). Now everything works fine, including LMS,
in fact it works great. This light distribution needs small memory and
works much faster than the opensuse 13.1 I had previously. I am happy
but I cannot help with the specific problem with opensuse, sorry.

Does that help? It doesn't help me, because there is no newer version
