2015-05-23 Thread hsmeets

Hi Steen, Greg,

I did an insitu upgrade of 1.19 to 1.19L. The upgrade worked and after
some 40 seconds the music resumed to play again.

Looking at dmesg output there is still that message about the
filesystems not correctly unmounted. Is this because of 1.19 having this
issue and the insitu upgrade does not fix this? Wil it be gone when I
download the 1.19L image and write it to the SD card myself instead of
the insitu?

2015-05-23 Thread Mr. Floppy

Hi,

I tried latest version and first 1.19. Every time the same. Strange
thing is, after plug in LAN and Wifi I am able to use both. So I open a
ssh with putty, login and type dmesg and get following:

Code:

  [2.978713] usb 1-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 4 using dwc_otg
  [3.080439] usb 1-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=7392, idProduct=7811
  [3.080473] usb 1-1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2,
SerialNumber=3

  [3.080506] usb 1-1.3: Manufacturer: Realtek
  [3.080522] usb 1-1.3: SerialNumber: 00e04c01

So its same version as that one is running.
iwconfig shows me

Code:

But after I unplug the LAN connection wifi also drop and I lost my ssh
connection

Hi Mr. Floppy

It seems like your susyem is OK - so are you sure that you use the
correct IP-address after you switch to wifi. The raspberry
(piCorePlayer) will have a new IP-address for the wifi connection.

I use advanced-IP scanner (http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/) to find
my piCorePlayer on my network.
However, you might be able to find the address if you follow these
instructions:

- Reboot the piCorePlayer with LAN cable attached.
- Set-up wifi on the web-page.
- reboot piCorePlayer
- SHH into the piCorePlayer
- write ifconfig - and now you should be able to see both the
IP-address for the LAN connection and for the Wifi connection.
- Remove LAN
- Reboot (or pull the power)
- Use the wifi IP-address you got

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite

2015-05-23 Thread praganj

Since early versions of piCoreplayer i am using my own scripts to stop
all procesess which are not necessary for playing music few minutes
after boot process - httpd, udevd, udhcpc, crond, dropbear.
In this way Pi has more ressources for squeezelite and IMHO sound
quality with a very good usb dac and very good hifi system is better.

Would it be possible to built in one extra option for high end freaks
into picoreplayer gui allowing to stop all unnecessary processess 5 or
10 minutes after booting, but only then, when there is no access to web
gui ?

In this way it will be possible to change configuration just after
reboot and later all possible CPU/bus ressources could be available to
squeezelite.

In my scripts i am also unloading unused kernel modules and umounting
unnecessary mounts, but greatest impact has stopping some unused
services and tcpip optimization.

I don't want to start a flame war about "bits are bits" and when it is
working, than it is working, i just have a proposition to add some "high
end approach" to this great piece of software :)

Here is my script for Pi 2 whith usb dac (waveio+buffalo II) :

# add at the end of /home/tc/www/cgi-bin/do_rebootstuff.sh
# make backup with sudo filetool.sh -b

sleep 600

# some tcpip optimizing

sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_moderate_rcvbuf=1
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps=0
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_sack=0
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling=1

# unload unsused kernel modules

spi_bcm2708 snd_soc_bcm2708_i2s
sudo rmmod snd_soc_pcm512x regmap_i2c regmap_mmio snd_soc_core
snd_pcm_dmaengine snd_compress

sleep 3

# stop services

sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/httpd stop
sudo kill -9 $(pidof udevd)
sudo kill -9 $(pidof udhcpc)
sudo kill -9 $(pidof crond)

sudo umount /dev/loop1
sudo umount /dev/loop5

sudo killall dropbear
sudo umount /dev/loop0

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite

2015-05-23 Thread Mr. Floppy

Hi,

I use fing to see whats going on in my network. After connecting LAN and
go to Web config I setup wifi. At console I make an iwconfig and
ifconfig. I see that wifi is established and wifi gets an IP address.

I make a cat to /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf and see here my wifi
configuration.

After reboot without lan the /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf is empty* and wifi
doesn't work. Than I connect LAN again and wait until eth0 gets an IP.
Than I start the web config page, go to wifi, wait until available wifi
networks are shown, configure my wifi again and press safe. After a few
seconds wlan is online and gets an IP. I see that with ifconfig an
iwconfig.

>From that point I can start a ssh and web config session over wlan IP.
Now /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf contains again my configuration. But this
is only working if I have also a LAN connection. Without LAN nothing is
working.

This is the empty /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

Code:

  tc@piCorePlayer:/etc$ cat wpa_supplicant.conf
  # reading passphrase from stdin
  Passphrase must be 8..63 characters
  tc@piCorePlayer:/etc$

Hi hsmeets,

The "Available wifi networks" table is 5 or so pixels wider than the
rest of the page.

I test on Safari on my PC and iPad and it all lines up nicely. I wonder
if it is an Apple thing or is it because you have a really long SSID
displayed?

Hi Mr. Floppy,

I think there might be something wrong with you SSID or wireless
password. Do you have a hidden SSID?

Assume wifi setup is very simple if:

- SD card is not corrupt.
- USB wifi adaptor is supported by Raspberry Pi.
- SSID is correct and valid.
- Password is correct and valid.
- SSID is not hidden.

Hi praganj,

No flame wars here. :D Thanks for reporting your findings.

We have added the "User commands" feature on the tweaks page to give
people hooks into the booting process.

Here's is what I suggest.

Place your commands into a script, clean.sh
Comment out sleep 600, we will do that later.
chmod 755 clean.sh
Put the script into the /opt (or /home/tc) directory.
Do a backup, "sudo filetool.sh -b" or just press a "Save" button on the
web gui.
In "User command #1" add: sleep 600; /opt/clean.sh &
Hit the "Save" button.
Reboot.

For testing I suggest "sleep 60" it still gives you enough time to
adjust things.

regards
Greg
