Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20

2018-02-21 Thread AudioWolf

Dear all,

I am a newbee here in this Forum. I hope this is the right forum to
post.
Since some weeks I am using pcP322(Audio) with 7.9 LMS (Max2Play/RP3
LM-Server+3 pcP/Squeezlite clients/PiFi2.0 + some Amps) and
its woks fine on LMS !!! and sounds very good :-) !
Now I used one client with new HW (RP3+Allo Piano2+Volt) and
choosed/added at pcP the alsa equalizer for doing some loudness tweak
(I bought new jbl control 1 wich are sounding a bit "potty" at low
volumes. The equalizer woks well (!) but if I stop playing musik
(internet radio)
in LMS a noise appear (around 1-2Hz, equal to main hum but it is not).
Additional: It is not possible to increase or decrease this noise by
LMS volume control (level is constant).
Does anybody know this error?
Thank you in advance

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.00

2018-02-21 Thread shaunm

Thanks for awesome work on this project.

I am trying to use the PiCorePlayer as just a LMS with a Raspberry Pi
Zero W, which my Squeezebox classic connects to.
I've set everything else up perfectly and easily due to the great
instructions (thanks!) except playing wmal files.

1. LMS with Squeezebox

I've spent all day trying, I can play:

mp3
wav
mpeg-4
wma

BUT, cannot play
wmal (wma lossless)

get this error:
Slim::Player::Song::open (409) Error: Couldn't create command line for
wmal playback for [file name]

Unfortunately 75% of music collection (27,000 songs) is wmal.

I've read it's a windows codec for WMAL, so is it simply the case you
cannot play WMAL files in LMS?

2. Just to check, I tried the built-in Squeezelite player and it does
play WMAL all be it with juddering and hissing (hdmi out)

3. I don't know if this what I'm missing, but I tried to load the
extension ffmpeg.tcz but it failed with this message:
Downloading: expat2.tcz
Error on expat2.tcz

4. I loaded the extension ffmpeg-doc.tcz and restarted but didn't seem
to do anything.

An help would be appreciated. All I'm looking to do is for LMS to work
with my Squeezebox Classic, playing WMAL files

Thanks in advance,

Likely the filesystem is running out of space when downloading expat2.
Have you expanded your filesystem?

I run a piano with the alsa equalizer without issue. If you press the
power off the device in LMS for your player, does that change anything.

If the hum is there when not playing music, it is likely in your power
supply or wiring.

That is a different issue, michael had to replace the build server, so
perhaps he still has a few glitches.

Hello Paul,
yes I can follow your ideas. Today tried to switch off LMS as you
suggested , but I have some troubles to activate alsa again. So if hum
came through 19 V VoltAmp supply alsa increases this noisefloor. At
weekend I willsort out this with untested allo Isolator and report.
Thank you very much 👍 Jürgen

LMS said there was an update. I updated from Picoreplayer menu's.

Opposite to previous updates this happens:

Code:

  usage: /usr/local/bin/lms-update.sh [-u] [-d] [-m] [-r] [-s] [-t]

-m Manual download Link Check for LMS update
  -r Reload LMS after Update
  -s Skip Update from GitHub
-t Test building, but do not move extension to tce directory
--mm Force the version you want to update. (eg 7.9.1)

does the all-black SB sound better than the white SB?

No, there shouldn't be any problem with the downloads. Above URL is
simply outdated. It's about three weeks old, but the download server
doesn't keep more than three builds back. If there were daily builds,
those URLs would expire after three days already.

Whatever is getting those URLs needs to refresh.

I should have picked this up the first time.

I did a quick review of your update script. It doesn't worry about the
longer hash in the URL, does it?
