Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer 4.0.0
David, If you would just setup your router to always pass the same address based on MAC address, your problems would be 100% solved. DHCP is way more reliable, and if something ever changes in your setup..change your router, and reboot your devices, and they all get the new setup. Static is completely different in 3.5.0, so that will not hold in upgrades. We have not tested static between 4.0.0 and future upgrades. Paul PS. newconfig.cfg no longer works. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer 4.0.0
Just a few things noticed in change from 3.5.0 to 4.0.0: - newconfig.cfg does not seem to be required. I used it when installing a fresh image of pCP 4.0.0 but after the install it had retained the name of newconfig.cfg and the settings had not been used - after an insitu upgrade 3.5.0 to 4.0.0 I was unable to find pCP on my network. Didn't show in DHCP on wifi or on LAN, and I used an IP scanner but still couldn't find it. Tried many things, LAN direct to my computer, LAN to router, reset router, wifi to router, etc. and I was becoming concerned that the pi3 was broken! Many cold reboots and searching and then it appeared on a scan. Not sure why that was. - I use a static IP address with sCP. After upgrade yesterday to b6 cPC had "disappeared from my browser... it wasn't at the usual IP address I thought I had lost it again! A scan showed that settings had been changed to wireless and static IP was turned off. Easily reset, but is it possible to maintain the static IP and wireless settings during updates? We know that an insitu upgrade may have issues, we are working on that now. Here is an old list of wifi issue that might prompt an solution: https://www.picoreplayer.org/faq_wifi_does_not_work.shtml #3 and #4 should no longer be a problem. I already tested the 3.5.0 image for the last few months, and it worked perfectly. It was only after trying to upgrade to 4.0.0 that my wifi connection failed. It has also worked for all the previous versions for a few years now. I bought the RPi in December 2014, and I think the 1.18 version was current at that time. It has worked with piCorePlayer ever since, the 4.0.0 is the first release that breaks the wifi. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer 4.0.0
Jens The worry about this card/driver is that it is staging. Which means it is not fully developed. Kernel upgrades may break it. I notice that you are going back to 3.02. Can you test a 3.5.0 image. Try to leave that out of the config. > Hi Paul, I tried all sorts of things following your instructions: I have tried to manually edit the sample wpa_supplicant.conf and place it in the boot partition on the SD card, I have tried all possible combinations of country=, using "DK", "US", and also commenting out the country= line. I even tried to do a ssh connection to the RPi and tried to use the setup program as shown on the link provided, but that did not help either. I decided to abandon the upgraded 4.0.0.b5 card and flashed a freshly downloaded 4.0.0.b6 image to a new SD card, but it was exactly the same story, no joy. Swapping the SD card back to the old 3.02 image, everything works as a charm again. I also have the notion that since it can scan the network and find info on my wifi, and since it reads the MAC address of the USB wifi adapter, it is a very small step that is missing. Any pointer would be greatly appreciated. I can also send diagnostics to pastebin again if you are interested.
