Great - thanks to both of you for letting me know. Looks like we're
there in principle. I won't be surprised if that sbpd script
modification can be improved by someone with more scripting experience.
For instance, if pigpiod never initialises for some reason, the while
loop will effectively hang the script. *

I also reviewed my lcd-brightness.sh script (that Ralphy provided the
wget command for above), and for the life of me, I can't figure out why
I've used
Code:

echo $(pigs GDC $g)

when
Code:

pigs GDC $g

works just as well. I think it was a remnant of my misguided attempts
to get a return value into the lua applet, but the basic command does
that anyway.
So there are some bits that need tidying up I think.

* Aargh - I've just noticed that the modified sbpd script is creating a
file called '0' in the root folder - evidently something to do with that
'while ! [ $(pigs t) > '0' ] ' line, but my scripting isn't up to fixing
that right now!

Hello!

Today I found an interesting case for a Pi zero W with a display and
buttons included (German):

Here is the link to the creators website (English):
http://retroflag.com/GPi-CASE.html

It only has 3.5mm Stereo connector, but the display is a little bit
bigger and there are real buttons.
The only thing I didn't know is the resolution of the display.

I am using an installation on a Pi 4 of piCorePlayer only for the LMS

Did you partitioned the drive when you got it (you should always do it

Maybe it is the rest of the drive that can not used for the partition
with the ntfs filesystem because it is too small for a block (it is only
16MB in size).

By the way, when I copied the Pirate Audio configuration into the
modprobe commands, the change from speed=3200 to speed=1600 was
a mistake - the menu 'slides' in Jivelite have some noticeable tearing
with the slower speed. 3200 is good, and 6400 may be even
better, but barely noticeable if at all. I'll revert that change in my
setup steps above.

Will this be robust?

Code:

#!/bin/sh

  # start pigpiod deamon
  pigpiod -t 0

  # wait for pigpiod to initialise - indicated by 'pigs t' returning a numeric
value. Returns 'socket connect failed' otherwise
  while ! [ $(pigs t) > '0' ]
  do
echo "Waiting for pigpiod to initialise"
sleep 1
  done
  echo "pigpiod is running"

  # load uinput module - required to be able to send keystrokes
  .
  .
  .

In testing this I noticed that I will often get that 'initMboxBlock:
init mbox zaps failed' error if I kill pigpiod with just 'sudo kill -9
'. It seems to leave something behind. But if I instead use 'sudo
killall pigpiod', even though there seems to be only one process
associated with pigpiod, it seems to terminate more reliably, so that it
can be loaded again.

I've never seen this error after a fresh reboot, which should normally
be the only time pigpiod needs to be loaded.

This is not so easy. I got the Pi4B+ 2GB today. Flashed on pCP 6.0.0-b7.
Chosed an USB 2 port connected to the Mutec MC3+ USB. Nothing. No
communicatioon at all. I put in the output setting:
iec958:CARD=M20,DEV=0 .

I restarted both units several times. No cmmunication. Then I chosed a
USB 3 port on the Pi4 and voilĂ . It works now.

To sum it up. The output setting ( iec958:CARD=M20,DEV=0 ) is valid. But
it still was a challange to get the communication to start. I have no
patent solution but don't give up. I succeeded eventually, twice.

For what it's worth/Jan

Yes, I found it two minutes ago.
This package was under uninstalled packages, but I don't know why? When
I first tried the script it has been working, so something has
uninstalled it.
The only thing I changed was the gpio-handler for shutdown. Maybe when
disabling this, rpi-vc was also disabled?

I had to delete it, reboot, install it, reboot and now it works and it
works without sudo.

Yes, I did this when creating it.

I tried vcgencmd on the shell and also with sudo and I always get "not
found". So there must be something missing. I will search which part
includes vcgencmd.

Have you tried to chmod 775 the argononed.py script?

I changed the second user script to "sudo python3
/home/tc/argononed.py", but I am still getting the message that vcgencmd
is not found.
Should I change the call:

Code:

temp = os.popen("vcgencmd measure_temp").readline()

into

Code:

temp = os.popen("sudo vcgencmd measure_temp").readline()

?
