I meant to say work well. It does not deal well with interface changes.
I suspect vpn is creating an interface.when you go back to a
non-vpn interface, don't be surprised if you have a problem.

Interestingly enough i got it working. I had to go to advanced > remote

I think i can script something based on the wifi to connect to the vpn
or not. I'm not overly concerned because this is going to be my travel
player and will mostly be connecting to vpn.

Jivelite is a little finicky in the v6 beta but once i uninstalled and
reinstalled got all my VU meters and stuff

Jivelite isn’t going to work in that environment.unless the vpn is

Increase the network delay on the WiFi page. Default is 50 seconds,
but we are finding many routers are taking longer sometimes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite on a Joggler

2020-02-05 Thread chill

Hmm - I've spotted the connection. Of my four Jogglers, the odd one out
is the one that's running from a USB memory stick. If I boot one of the
others from the same USB image, rather than in the internal image
they've been using, then alsamixer no longer offers the headphone option
or the three Auto-Mute modes.

I don't know what could be causing the difference or how to fix it, but
it's a clue!

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite on a Joggler

2020-02-05 Thread chill

It seems like the autoswitching can be configured, using alsamixer. But
I'm seeing differences between my 4th Joggler and one of the others. If
you ssh in and type 'alsamixer' you should see a screen something like
this:

[image:
http://www.cjh.me.uk/MyPhotobucket/cache/DIYHifi/Jivelite/alsamixer1_640.jpeg]

That's the screen that I get from my 4th Joggler, on which the 3.5mm
plug does not mute the internal speaker. The 'Auto-Mute Mode' on the
right was set to 'enabled' - in this configuration the internal speaker
does not switch off and I can only get crackling from the attached
speaker. When I switch it to 'disabled' then the connected speaker
starts to play back, but the internal speaker doesn't mute. I think
this makes sense, but only if the switch itself is faulty. I don't
think this can be your case, because the switch works under sqpos.

On one of my other units I see a slightly different configuration under
alsamixer:

[image:
http://www.cjh.me.uk/MyPhotobucket/cache/DIYHifi/Jivelite/alsamixer2_640.jpeg]

Firstly I see the additional 'Headphone' column, and secondly the
Auto-Mute Mode has three settings: 'Disabled', 'Speaker Only' and 'Line
Out+Speaker'.

So can you investigate the AutoMute options under Alsamixer and see if
one of them works for you?

I've just tried this on 4 different Jogglers. On three of them the
sound played on the internal speakers until a 3.5mm jack was inserted,
at which point the sound switched over to the speaker connected to that
jack. The fourth one behaved as yours does - sound from the speakeers
but it doesn't switch to the 3.5mm jack. I have no idea if there are
any hardware differences. Could it be a malfunctioning socket? Are you
saying that sqpos3 on that *same unit* does output to the 3.5mm jack but

You're right. r1203 is just an update to the makefile to build for
picoreplayer. But the test build does have mmx extensions disabled for

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] squeezeplay i386 does not display all cover art

2020-02-05 Thread ralphy

The only difference between the two is that the 64bit version has mmx
extensions disabled, which has been the case since I started providing
builds.
I've uploaded a '32bit build with mmx extensions disabled'
Please give that a try.
The intel squeezeplay builds are done on centos 6, which is old, but
produces a binary that works with most of the current linux
distributions...at least up until now.
If the new build doesn't display all images, you can try building
squeezeplay on Debian 10. I don't know if jivelite will be any
different, you'll have to try it.

There's a new version 1203 of Squeezeplay for i386 just uploaded but
there is no new commit to indicate a code change.

[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 5.0.0 + rPI4 wont boot

2020-02-05 Thread weirdNumber

Hello

I am a totally new user. I got an RPi4 to experiment with music
streaming in my house. I have followed the instructions on the
piCorePlayer website to burn the image to an SD card.

When I turn on my RPi nothing happens. The green light briefly flashes
and then remains off while the red light remains on. I don't get signal
out of the HDMI port and the device is not connecting to my network
(ethernet).

I thought maybe the RPi might be DOA but it works without any problems
with RopieeeXL.

Can anyone suggest what I can do next to get piCorePlayer up and
running?
Thanks

Might make a post in the squeezelite thread, or raise an issue on

Not sure if Ralphy will spot this post here or not.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer + hifiberry DAC+ - Squeezelite Randomly Stops

2020-02-05 Thread pianogineer

So it occurred again last night. With LMS server player logging on, I
got the file that it crashed on. It was an iOS voice memo. I believe
I've noticed in the past some odd encoding of these, so I guess it makes
sense.

Interestingly, when re-playing that same file, I'm unable to get
squeezelite to actually crash. It throws an error but much more
gracefully and stays alive.

Code:

[09:34:49.956502] stream_thread:247 headers: len: 115
  HTTP/1.1 200 OK
  Server: Logitech Media Server (7.9.1 - 1522157629)
  Connection: close
  Content-Type: audio/aac

  [09:34:49.956645] sendRESP:220 RESP
  [09:34:50.053518] read_mp4_header:295 type: ftyp len: 28 consume: 28
  [09:34:50.053616] read_mp4_header:295 type: wide len: 8 consume: 8
[09:34:50.053635] read_mp4_header:250 type: mdat len: 17978321, no playable
track found
[09:34:50.053650] faad_decode:388 error reading stream header
  [09:34:50.053665] decode_thread:100 decode error

If in a playlist, it stops playback, but doesn't crash.

When squeezelite crashes, I'm using "Random Mix" of songs from LMS,
which includes adding new tracks to the playlist as old ones are played.
Wonder if that's somehow causing a squeezelite crash?

Either way, kicked off another random mix and will see if another one of
these several voice memos I have in my library causes the issue again.

Further down on the wifi page, there should be a scan results section.

Do you want squeezelite to resample? or just tell lms to only send
44/48 to the device.

I have only ever run SqueezePlay from a shell prompt so far but never
seen any error messages, even with all sorts of debug turned on. There
seems to be a size limit to JPEG cover art. Artwork smaller than 600x600
seems to be displayed correctly. If cover art is PNG then size does not
matter.

FWIW you should be able to simplify that loop to

Code:

  while ! pigs t >/dev/null 2>&1 ; do
  #printf "\nWaiting for pigpiod to initialize\n"
  sleep 1
  done
  printf "\npigpiod is running\n"

Is it a Rpi 3 B by any chance ?

I had one and even when new the Wi-Fi was not brilliant after a time it
deteriorated to the point it would not pick up a Wi-Fi signal 6 inches
from the access point.

Everything else was fine (and I still use it wired)

This was before the B+ when they changed the antenna (I wonder why !)

I don;t have an immediate answer for you but your screenshot show WiFi
credentials so you might want to remove the screenshot and scribble over
that part and put it back.
Of course, for now at least, no-one knows who you really are and, more
importantly, where you are - but if that becomes clearer over time then
you connection details could be useful to someone who wants to break in.

2020-02-05 Thread stashrudolf

I am beyond frustrated!

First of all, I have searched this forum and the whole Internet at least
a dozen of times before turning to you my fellow forum members.

My problem is the following:
-at my home I have two Raspberries with PiCorePlayer installed on both.
-until a couple of weeks ago both worked perfectly, the one in our
living room wired and the one in the bedroom on WiFi
-then all of a sudden the bedroom one stopped working
-it just doesn't connect to my Wifi
-it works fine wired
-I have checked everything:
-fresh install
-fresh install with all previous versions
-I have tried to connect the same Raspberry Pi with some other OS and it
connected just fine
-I have tried to connect the same Raspberry Pi to a WiFi network at work
and it connected just fine
-I have tried to copy/paste the SSID into the settings

Here is the screenshot of the diagnostics29291

Has anyone got any ideas what can be wrong?

Thanks in advance

IIRC Ralphy does maintenance so you could PM him.
It is an odd problem - it feels like a library is missing.

We support the hifiberry ADC products. This one might take a little
work. They are using the HAT eeprom to automatically load drivers, I'm
not sure we have that mechanism in pCP (Never researched it) But

Is there any chance of supporting this device in pCp 6.

Just exploring streaming high quality analog audio say FM Tuner, CD
Player, Record Deck etc etc

The streaming seems to be an available feature on the Tweaks page - but
the support for this device isn't there.

Just experimenting.

I know I can do it from Raspbian but I was thinking of something running
on a small OS, continuously, in the background,
