You can also enable SAMBA server on pCP so that you can copy files to it from Windows (or other things that can use SMB protocol). Paul Webster author of \"now playing\" plugins covering radio france (fip etc), planetradio (bauer - kiss, absolute, scala, jazzfm etc), kcrw, abc australia and cbc/radio-canada and, via the extra \"radio now playing\" plugin lots more - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115201-announce-radio-now-playing-plugin Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

That's what many piCorePlayer users do. Ha ha, you know what.I don't have a GREAT reason. I think I came up with the idea before I realised how it all works and that multiple PiCorePlayers (I have two) can use the same LMS! I guess the convenience of being able to copy new stuff over in Windows was good - but I do that so rarely anyway. Thanks for pointing out the embarrassingly obvious! I think I'll run with it. ;) bwanatheclown's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=73256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Rpi4 + PCP 8 vs Audiophile Streamer
Just curious, because this is not something I have looked into. How many of those audiophile streamers are based on a Raspberry Pi? Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio, Boom or Classic. [SlimDevices: Unix] RaspPi Symfonisk: Alsa settings / LADSPA-Plugin
Hi Forum, some time ago I was playing around with some used slimdevices, having a Radio in the bathroom, a Boom for my office and some raspberry pis with Hifiberry-Amps in the living and dining room. Unfortunately there were always some minor hassles and after some renovation works I did not re-install the Pi-speaker combinations after the painters left the house. We are just listening via an Alexa speaker... I was thinking about buying some Symfonisk from IKEA, but also wanted to add a CD-Player to the setup and as I found out this would mean several hundreds to be spent. That Sonos discontinued the devices before 2015 left me quite concerned about their customer-oriented business (thinking about my brother who spent 2k some years ago for equipment that is not supported with their new software S2 any more...). While surfing the net I found an article where someone replaced the Sonos-internals of a Symfonisk speaker with a Pi Zero and an Hifiberry Amp. They used a plugin to do the filtering work for certain frequencies so that the player routes the high frequencies via one stereo channel to the tweeter and the low frequencies via the other stereo channel to the midrange driver. I found an empty Symfonisk case incl. the drivers for 20 on ebay (someone used the internals to convert an active sub into a Sonos sub) and followed the instructions on raspberry-pi-geek. While looking for the pre-compiled extension, I found the same article in english on linux-magazine.com. I did the following: - copied the asound.conf from the tutorial to /etc/ of the raspberry pi without any modifications - copied the rt-plugins-0.0.6.tcz to /etc/sysconfig/tcedir/optional - added rt-plugins-0.0.6.tcz to onboot.lst - activated ladspa extension via the web interface In general it is working, but it sounds really poor. It does not sound like this frequency filtering is working. The tutorial was made for piCorePlayer 6.0.0 and I am not sure if this makes a difference... Do I need to modify the asound.conf? I am not sure if I can use the pre-compiled extension rt-plugins for pCP 8.2.0 How can I check that the extension is working? Was is right to acticate the ladspa extension? I am a little bit lost, It would be great if someone could help me. [SlimDevices: Unix] Rpi4 + PCP 8 vs Audiophile Streamer
Hi All, I've been using a Rpi4 with touch screen and Picoreplayer 8 on it for many years and I'm quite happy with it. However, for a while, I keep asking myself, would there be a difference of sound quality with a standalone "audiophile" streamer? (ie: Chord, Auralic, Rose, etc..) Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer LMS installation after power outage
Howard brings up a good question, why do some people have issues with power outages impacting LMS on picoreplayer and others don't. I will have a power outage about ever month and have never corrupted a picoreplayer install. I have a usb flash drive for music storage attached to my picoreplayer. I have LMS installed with the cache on the flash drive. I use a quality SD card and usb flash drive, like Sandisk, Samsung, etc. My usb flash drive is formatted NTFS. is it the card quality, is it the file format or just luck? For example, issue have been tied to remote drives to connect or traditional drives waiting for a disk to spin up after an outage. So please, share your setup, maybe the there is a common thread among users with this issue. Good luck with it. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
I'm sure you have a reason for this approach that I'm simply not thinking about, but my first thought was why not avoid all this and plug the USB drive directly into the rPi and mount from there instead of the router. That's what many piCorePlayer users do. *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.3.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.3.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
