[SlimDevices: Unix] Noob Question - HDMI output with pCP/Jivelite and attached screen.

2023-01-02 Thread Eserim

So, after SB2 died (see
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?117314-SB2-Display-died-after-power-loss)
I want to reproduce it, complete with clock "screen saver"

I've got as far as a Pi2B with pCP and Jivelight sending output via HDMI
to receiver, which then displays interface on big TV and plays the
sound.

If I add a small screen to the Pi, will it echo what the TV shows? If
so, does Jivelight have to be set with a skin that works on the smaller
display?

Many thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5

2023-01-01 Thread Eserim

All good now - I didn't fully get the fact that Jivelite sent output via
HDMI as well as to any screen - obvious really, so went done that route,
configured Flirc on PC for most common controls, now just going to try
getting my Harmony Hub to get it right - Two wonderful products killed
by Logitech!
Many thanks

Thanks - I did try those, I found after originally posted, but got stuck
on

$ sudo /usr/local/sbin/inputlircd -n "flirc.tv flirc" -m 0 -g -r 500

Today I'm getting Command not found, but I was getting something else
yesterday - I'll keep playing, not much else to do today apart from take
decorations down.

With JiveLite install I am guessing I don't need any of the IR parts as
FLIRC is viewed as a USB keyboard (Which I didn't realize until the
earlier reply).

Off Topic - the reason why I am looking at this is my SB2 has semi-died
- see
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?117314-SB2-Display-died-after-power-loss
and we had the SB2 with a 'fuzzy clock" which is now missed by the
family - if I went with a small display on the Pi is there an equivalent
display option for when nothing is playing?

Many thanks

Thanks - so with JiveLight I need to configure the FLIRC to read the
remote buttons as specific Jivelite keys - presumably there is a key map
somewhere - I'll look - there are instructions on 'page 5'
of this thread I've found since posting, but I get as far as "Start
inputlircd from the command line while testing. I've found the following
options work best." which doesn't work.

Anyway - something to look at next year!

Jumping in here - so, a old, prob v1 flirc, SHOULD work with pCP, and
even without JiveLite? If so, how do you go about telling it what
device is being used? Is it OK to do this via the Windows Software
setup, then move the Flirc to the RPI? IS there anyway to check in the
logs that the Flirc is being seen?

Many thanks.
