Still the same. Just one string quartet album in the logs. The only thing I can think of is the Additional Browse Mode Setting. [SlimDevices: Unix] Server disconnects when WAN is down
Yesterday, Comcast was dead. I was trying to play my own music, which is on my Linux LEAP 42.2 server, on my Transporters. Both Transporters are connected via hard-wired Ethernet to my server. But the Transporters lose connection to my Squeezeboxserver for 5-second periods. When it comes back, I must press Pause twice. Then it is good for 2-5 minutes, and dies again. Yes, it said in the thread that you must use the nightlies. As for the error messages, the LANG error is always there. The others look as if you did not specify a directory for videos and pictures. The path to the perl bin has to be /usr/bin/perl5.16.2, the version of Class-XSAccessor has to be 1.168) Run the modified buildme.sh9) Copy newly build CPAN modules: cp -a build/arch/5.16 /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch10) Fix the Class::XSAccessor issue. Edit /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/Class/XSAccessor.pm and change the version line to 1.16 our $VERSION = '1.16';11) Patch /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/Slim/Control/Request.pm. Attention! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] opensuse 12.2 fails to run logitechmediaserver-7.8.0-0.1.1347896053
The key is to modify the buildme.sh script. I was unsuccessful. Prerequisites: 1. install nasm using zipper or yast2 2. install any missing perl modules using cpan 3. install the C development tools and perl 4. I recommend a nice GUI text editor such as edit (from the OpenSUSE build service) I did everything in my download directory as root (su), or you can use sudo Download the version http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/7.8/sc/520ec9c/logitechmediaserver-7.8.0-1350572233.tgz Untar it #tar -xvf logitechmediaserver-7.8.0-1350572233.tgz The above distribution contains a CPAN/arch directory structure organized by version and platform that should let you see where to put your own built binaries. To get the vendor directory you need to check it out with Subversion: svn co http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/slim/7.8/trunk/vendor/CPANNow we need to build everything for perl 5.16.0 But the buildme.sh script in the CPAN directory will not work as given since perl is just /usr/bin/perl. I modified the 5.12 part to be: --- # Path to Perl 5.16if [ -x /usr/bin/perl ]; then PERL_516=/usr/bin/perl elif [ -x /usr/local/bin/perl5.12.4 ]; then PERL_512=/usr/local/bin/perl5.12.4 elif [ -x /usr/local/bin/perl5.12.4 ]; then # Also FreeBSD 8.2 PERL_512=/usr/local/bin/perl5.12.4 elif [ -x $HOME/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.12.4/bin/perl5.12.4 ]; then PERL_512=$HOME/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.12.4/bin/perl5.12.4 elif [ -x /usr/bin/perl5.12 ]; then # OSX Lion uses this path PERL_516=/usr/bin/perl fi if [ $PERL_516 ]; then echo Building with Perl 5.16 at $PERL_516 fi # Install dir for 5.16 BASE_516=$BUILD/5.16--Then do search and replace to change all 512 to 516 and 5.12 to 5.16 I did not get past running the script, which took a long time, and still failed. If you get past this, Andy says: After running buildme.sh the same arch directory structure is created and just needs to be copied over to the CPAN directory of the above distribution. Maybe someone else can figure this out. jarome's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1223 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96492 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] opensuse 12.2 fails to run logitechmediaserver-7.8.0-0.1.1347896053
The issue is not that the newer perl will not work, it is that the Squeezebox code has the older version hard wired into it, so you have to fool it by making the links as I described (updated for your installed version of perl). At least that has always worked in the past--I have not yet upgraded to 12.2. jarome's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1223 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96492 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 7.5.5 update fails on OpenSuse 11.4
The problem is that buildme.sh wipes out any changes you make. So here is what must be done to get it to work. 1. Run the script once, which will make all the files. 2. In mysql-5.1.37/configure on line 18628, get rid of the abi_check definition: # Enable the abi_check rule only if gcc is available if test $GCC != yes || expr $CC : .*icc.* then ABI_CHECK= else ABI_CHECK= fi 3. in buildme.sh line 426, comment out the tar file extraction: #tar jxvf mysql-5.1.37.tar.bz2 Then buildme.sh will work. Not yet sure whether that fixes the server. Andy, It is time to dump perl for these compatibility reasons. The software should all be done in Java. It would be faster too. I could understand it and help also. So I upgraded to 11.4. squeezeboxserver-7.5.3-1.noarch.rpm was working on 11.3. Just to be sure I uninstalled it and installed it again. The perl link must be changed (it was 5.12.1 before): ln -s /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/Slim/ /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.3/Slim I think it is working now. But it should not start indexing things until the user has had a chance to, for example tell it to not use iTunes, and to treat multiple discs as a single album. My fingers are crossed. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Won't start in OpenSUSE 11.3
I have all those ports open too. And everything works. But if you look for servers on a Squeezebox, it does not see my server, and I must enter it manually -- very hard to do on controller. So, do your devices discover your server? -- jarome jarome's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1223 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80458 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

This command just kicks off the service as the squeezeboxserver user and puts the newly installed libssp.so file on the library path. But how do I modify the file in /etc/init.d to get the server to start automatically upon boot? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Won't start in OpenSUSE 11.3
Thanks for that critical piece of the puzzle. I always do insserv on the things in /etc/init.d, and link them to an rc in /usr/sbin, so I can control them from the command line via sudo or root. I also had to install Inotify2 using cpan -i Linux::Inotify2 to get the nice autorescan plugin to work (add http://www.hickinbottom.com/sc-plugins/repo.xml to your sources at the bottom). And I also had to install LAME to get all the audio conversions in the server. So the question is what caused this to break? Was llvm-gcc installed in SUSE 11.2? Did the links change? Should we file a bug with SUSE (for breaking things)? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Won't start in OpenSUSE 11.3
Still, as in 11.2, NONE of my Squeezeboxes or Controller can see my SUSE server. I have to manually enter the server ip address, which is a real pain, and is especially hard to find in Controller. My Mac server is visible right away. When I complained on 11.2, people said it was a firewall setting, but I think I have it set properly. It was an issue of allowing broadcasts through. Any ideas?
