Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer - As a LMS server (See how-to here - work in progress)???
Yes, that was the trick. Open the case, pull out the SDCard running Volumio, and drop in a new card with PcP 8.0.0 Within minutes I had music playing again via Squeezelite. Yes, I can now see the player in LMS again. Huzzah! So nice having a GUI to configure Squeezelite settings rather than using ssh commands. Selected *HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro* from the drop-down list of output devices and sweet sounds come out the speakers (i2S out into Metrum Onyx DAC). I'm not using any of Volumio's features, just need a pi-compatible OS to host Squeezelite, so running PcP on both server _and_ client machines makes sense. Good tip about backing up the existing card image too. stuarth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69243 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107790 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer - As a LMS server (See how-to here - work in progress)???
So thanks to some help from folks on this forum, the LMS server is all up and running on PcP and has indexed the music files on my NAS. Nice. The headache for me now is with Squeezelite on my existing music streamer - 'Metrum Ambre' (https://metrumacoustics.com/audio-streamer/33-metrum-ambre.html)) - this is RPi based and I bought it with Volumio installed. (Roon is the most common option but I prefer to run LMS). My problem: The squeezelite plugin which I installed Volumio's GUI front end worked fine, until I changed the LMS server IP address. Now LMS says "no player found". I don't mind using shell commands to talk to squeezelite, but the Volumio plugin does not work as its documentation suggests. I've tried asking for help on the Volumio forum but the only tip I have is "uninstall the plugin and grab a new package from the 'squeezelite downloads page ' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/squeezelite/linux/)on Sourceforge.net. For starters, which version do I pick? I know that anything with x86 in the filename is probably for an Intel based PC. I picked the one named squeezelite-1.9.9.1386-armhf.tar.gz and unpacked the tar file, moved it to /usr/bin, changed permissions (following tips from 'gerrelt.nl' (http://www.gerrelt.nl/RaspberryPi/wordpress/tutorial-installing-squeezelite-player-on-raspbian/)). Gerrelt is using Raspbian, Volumio is based on Debian, but similar, right? Anyway all is fine until I execute squeezelite using > sudo /usr/bin/squeezelite -l > I get an error message which says > /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.25' not found > (required by /usr/bin/squeezelite) What does this mean. Have I chosen the wrong version of squeezelite for my hardware? Ahhh, working now (LMS is scanning all the media files on my NAS) I think the fix may have been enabling 'map all users to admin' in the NFS settings on the NAS. 35486 Thanks for the help so far - but I may be back soon with more questions : ) Cheers +---+ |Filename: NFS-rule-2.JPG | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35486| +---+ stuarth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69243 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107790 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Yep, looks like a permissions problem on the NAS shared folder alright. >From the LMS log: -Error scanning file or folder: /mnt/DS218: Permission denied- stuarth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69243 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107790 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer - As a LMS server (See how-to here - work in progress)???
One further thought - I am not running Samba on the PiCorePlayer as there are no media files on there - just the LMS server which has a library of metadata about the media files, which are hosted by the NAS. Do I need Samba configured to use PCP as an LMS server in this case. 'Documentation' (https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/install_lms/) does not make this clear. stuarth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69243 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107790 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer - As a LMS server (See how-to here - work in progress)???
Greetings and thanks to all that have provided advice for PiCorePlayer newbies such as myself. I have a Synology DS218 NAS and like others I have been successfully using the LMS package provided by pinkdotnl. That works just fine - cheers pinkdot - but sadly it's not compatible with the latest version of DSM 7.0 (according to the release notes). So this week I bought an RPi 4 model B, loaded PCP v8.0.0 and installed LMS. I struggled for a while to mount a network drive to my NAS - volume1 and Volume1 are different things entirely to Linux, ha - but that's now done. So my share to the shared folder named 'music' on my NAS is now active (screenshot). Here's my problem. I launch LMS from within pCP, In the Media Folders section of LMS config, when I click Browse I cannot see any subfolders - so I cannot scan my media library on the NAS (second screenshot). Help please? +---+ |Filename: lms-media-folder.JPG | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35476| +---+ stuarth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69243 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107790 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
