Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New RPi Zero 2 W
The only problem I have is when moving the SD card from a RPi4 to a Zero2W with PcP, the touchscreen stops working. I briefly see a complaint about being unable to create the /lib/firmware folder because it already exists but the 2.8" screen is difficult to see during the boot. The headphones message issue was easily sorted in the interface by changing the default output but I'm still struggling to find a solution to the touchscreen. Using pure Raspbian, the touchscreen is fine. alidaf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64775 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New RPi Zero 2 W
Hello all, I see the release notes of picoreplayer 8.1.0 "Adds full support for RPi02W". Does this mean that one can do the usual setup on a zero 2w without having to do any of the tweaks described in this thread? Which version for the 2w, 32 or 64 bits? Thanks! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New RPi Zero 2 W
received the P02, followed the steps in this thread and successfully booted using the 64-bit version of picoreplayer. benchmarks showed that the 64-bit version was more performant despite the 512mb ram. some notes: 1. P02 boots with a 3.3v power supply just like the older version 2. To turn off the leds there is a new command: dtparam=act_led_activelow=off. the old ones do not work 3. decoding flac as a pcp player only, the cpu utilizaiton is 0.2%. used to be 5% on the pi zero 4. everything is super fast mcduman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66702 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New RPi Zero 2 W
No Joy yet with a Zero 2 either. Stupidly I don't have a small HDMI connector at hand so can't see what's going on. Hoped on a similar painless headless setup of PcP as with my other RPI's. Will go out and get a small HDMI connector soon. What I did: 0) flashed the PCP8 32b image on a 16Gb sdcard 1) edited the config.txt and added the PI02 section (with same kernel as PI3) 2) created a wpa_supplicant.conf for my wireless network (same as with my other RPI's) 3) added the bcm2710-rpi-zero-2.dtb to the boot folder 4) wget the firmware from the repo.picore etc etc. 5) replaced the firmware-rpi-wifi.tcz in the tce/optional folder Questions: Does it matter were the PI02 section is inserted between PI0 en PI4 into config.txt? Does the firmware-rpi-wifi.tcz.md5.txt also need to be updated as firmware-rpi-wifi.tcz has changed or is it ignored? Does file ownership matter? On the root partition the Ubuntu that I used to access the root partition did show owner "1001" and after replacing the firmware it was 'root'. I did chmod the file to be read by all, owner, group and others. When I power the Zero the small LED lights up, flashes once then is steady for another second or so, flashes once more and then it stays on. After giving it some time it does not show up on the network/LMS Thanks! 36151 +---+ |Filename: screen.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36151| +---+ does the all-black SB sound better than the white SB? hsmeets's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9716 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I'm a newbie and I've tried a few times to follow the instructions for making disk that will work for Pi Zero2, but I've failed. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New RPi Zero 2 W
Hello, I'm trying to use the embedded bluetooth of the new RPi Zero 2 W, and don't manage to. The bluetooth cannot start and here is what I get when I try to enable it manually: tc@pCP:~$ sudo hciconfig hci0 up Can't init device hci0: Invalid request code (56) Is there some way to get it enabled ? Paul I'll try what you suggest tomorrow, I have a usb shim https://thepihut.com/products/usb-to-microusb-otg-converter-shim to an Anker usb-ethernet connector and this also this one https://thepihut.com/products/ethernet-hub-and-usb-hub-w-micro-usb-otg-connector Both work with the raspberry PI OS and Moode. With pCP they work on a piZero (without wireless). I can configure the Wi-Fi and shutdown, pop in an Edimax dongle, boot up and connect via wlan. I have tried all the different ways I can think of with the piZero2W, but netusb only works if I have configured wpa_supplicant. Then in the boot log, it shows the IP (as ethernet) and pcp.local (the latter does not always works first thing). ronnie ps I can't connect my keyboard, obvs, :) Anyway my UK one is not recognised (if you remember, I mentioned this some time ago) Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

64 bit comes with more memory overhead. But I guess you need to gage performance for yourself. The 64bit image requires a bit more to get it to boot. I'm in the process of building kernels and doing some testing. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Soldered on a header, dropped it in place of a Zero. Immediately tripled the frames/second, and the CPU(s) are far less stressed while running Squeezelite and a FFT spectrum display. Overclocking a bit brings the frame rate up to 30 fps, more than adequate for this purpose. https://youtu.be/iE1tw5TV3Mc piTouch w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New RPi Zero 2 W
I have a PI0W and a PI02W, both set up identically with a fresh pCP8.0.0 (64-bit on the PI02W) and with Pirate Audio sound cards/displays. I did a quick speed test. From applying power to the start of audio playback the original PI0W takes 49 seconds, and the new PI02W takes 28 seconds. That's a healthy improvement. Still nowhere near ESP32 territory, but good nonetheless. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

When you "down" a connection, we don't have a network daemon running to handle changing the default route to the other connection so that is why you loose connectivity. The interesting thing here is why when you only have the USB ethernet plugged in, why doesn't it work, when you are getting an address. I see this error in both pCP and Buster. Got mine on Friday :) I used to play music from deezer on it via chromium and USB Sound Card from my logitech headphones, GUI wasn't good idea on this thing, but I really wanted to test it ;). Should I go with HAT DAC or USB? I want it to be cheap, for now I am considering Pimoroni Audio Dac Shim or HifiBerry DAC+ Zero. the4anoni's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=72230 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Wilco :) I know the usb works (it's an on-the-go type usb) I have a rpi recommended shim which fits the connection and allows connection of usb devices. At the moment I have a Khadas Toneboard connected, working fine.:) I have an Anker usb-ethernet connecter which works on the pizero with both pCP and raspberry PI OS and also with raspberry PI OS on the zero 2 W. I also have an official rpi usb-ethernet (with usb ports) that works on the zero 2 W with Rasperry PI OS . Neither connecter work with the pizero 2 W. Some people on the rpi forum say they can't start the zero 2 W from usb (I don't know if that means anything in regard to the problem I have ) ronnie Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115331 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Ronnie, Since Chill was able to use a usb dragonfly, likely there is not a usb driver issue. I also looked at the RPiOS images, they are quite old, based on a 5.10.17 kernel ..and supposedly those images are fine according to RPi. Since you are up on WiFi, can you plug in your usb network device, and load the net usb extension. And see what shows up in dmesg/ifconfig/lsusb.
