2008-08-04 Thread tpoth
Hi Tim,

Thank you, for the time you spent in this issue.

I go through your manual Installation Instructions and it worked realy
fine.

In my last try, i did the Installation via the new Server Wizzard in the
GEP Dialog.
Here i tried to add the Geronimo Server 2.1 Adapter.
Than Eclipse doe's an automatic restart.
If i go to the New Server Wizzard again, there's just the TomCat Stuff
under the Apache branch.
But no Geronimo 2.1 as expected.

Now I installed the stuff manualy as you mentioned and it works fine.

I'll go now through the Installation as i did before in a separat eclipse
installation and try to reproduce the error, the i look for the log files
you requested.
It seems to be the stable GEP Release, but let me first try.

Thx Thomas

P.S. The Howto for the EAR Sample is great. Thx :-)

I've tried both, but on Vista nothing works.

On my MacBook Pro all is fine.
Also on a XP Box all the stuff works.

Yes I know this pages, and i followed them, line by line.

I'll try another Vista Box and we'll so what happens.

@Joe:
Sure if i get - once a day - the experience, i leave a line or two in the
wiki.
i know that OS Projects live from the cummunity, but at this state of my
experience that makes no sense.

Patchy documentation, setup dev envirmonment on vista

2008-08-01 Thread tpoth
Hi All,

i'm currently in an early phase of understanding Geronimo.

You know
I tried to ..., and i fail.

The Documentaion doesen't help in this Situations.
There are many step by step howto's, but they are so patchy.

Example:
I tried to Setup my Development Environment with Eclipse on a Windows
Vista Business Box.
The lates JDK's are installed on it.

I downloaded the lates stable Geronimo v 2.1.1 with Tomcat JEE, there is
no hint in the docu, that path langth must be ..., but i think it should
be there.

I downloaded the latest Eclipse "Ganymede" as JEE5 IDE as described, but
when i'm trying to install the GEP it fails with dependencie errors.

I downloaded the latest Eclipse "Europa" as JEE5 IDE as described, but
when i'm trying to install the GEP it fails with dependencie errors.
And be sure i tried all three ways, to get a Geronimo Server in Eclipse
configured.

I Don't want to post here all the beginners quests.

Is there another source, to get all theses surly solved issues done?

Is there an easy way to Setup my environment. Any Links?

Best regards

The port must not be assigned in the connection url it works fine without.

But if a took the Poolname jdbc/rational it fails.

I'm not very lucky about it, but our ERP Software bases on this Database.
And i had to get the data out of it for our E-Commerce Site.

It semms that this is OK

The Files are organized as follows:
geronimo_home/repository/com/pervasive/jdbc/v2/jpscs/1/jpscs-1.jar
geronimo_home/repository/com/pervasive/jdbc/v2/pvjdbc2/1/pvjdbc2-1.jar
geronimo_home/repository/com/pervasive/jdbc/v2/pvjdbc2x/1/pvjdbcv2x-1.jar

I'm sure to do so.

Problems Connecting to Pervasive SQL Database

2008-07-23 Thread tpoth
Hi All,

i'm currently in evaluating the geronimo Version 2.1.1 on Mac OS X with
Mac OS X 10.5.4 installed.
Java version is 1.5.0_13

I had to use a Pervasive SQL Database Server (v9.5 SP2), but at deployment
time it fails.

The Problem as follows:
I've added the three jar archives jpscs.jar, pvjdbcv2.jar and
pvjdbcv2x.jar to the repository.

Therefore i uploaded the three files seperate via Server Console -
Service/Repository
as group i give the package name com.pervasive.jdbc.v2
as artifact i give the Name of the jar (without .jar)
as version i took 1 (don't realy know the right Version of the jar's)
as type i inserted jar

Now i created a new database pool with the wizzard under Services/Database
Pools
Her i give the credentials for jdbc connection to our server

The connection test is ok
Test Result: Connected toPervasive.SQL 09.52.0043 000

If i know click the Deploy button the error occurs:
Error Deploying: Unable to deploy: jdbc/rational - see the log for details

In the console i see this ouput:
09:59:28,643 WARN [geronimo-commands:start-server] Deployer operation
failed: Can not load activation spec class
