history of the relevant files. I don't think it's been touch much in the
last 4-5 years, and honestly much of the content stuff from that era is
broken, and was never really written very well.


OK, I will have to have a serious look at it beginning in August... It seems to 
mostly works, it should not be a big pain.

Thanks David Ill take a look at those. The process that is most essential at
this point is to manage the membership of a customer to a store or a group
of stores. For this I do need entities to relate stores with a member.
Creating a table to relate Party and ProductStore / ProductStoreGroup does
look like the way to accomplish this. The next part would be to be able to
create price rules based on this relationship. I think for this Ill have to
dig deeper when creating ProductPriceConditions. Point system would be my
last requirement (like a customer can only gain points when buying from a
store that honors his/her membership).

I used until now a mailserver , open source, but which had a lot of
errors in the protocols and also in fact not useful.

Jacopo,

I remembered that somewhere in Ofbiz a functionality exists to first check
the associated role based record, if it doesn't exists then first it creates
that record and then
create the Record in the calling entity that check for foreign key
constraint.
I think we should avoid this kind of error as far as User Point of View is
concerned.

Does this scenario applies to here as well ?
If yes please let me know I will work on it as soon as I will get a chance.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Yes, thanks Bilgin. In my haste the other morning I totally forgot to  
whack that period when adding the square braces.


BTW, there are quite a few examples of this in various FTL files,  
especially when using the Static["org.ofbiz"].staticMethod() type  
of pattern. There are also some pretty good docs on this topic on the  
freemarker.org site.

Hi Ashish,

I don't like too much the idea of adding behind the lines the role to  
the party: in fact, if the user selects a wrong partyId (for example a  
supplier) and the system will make it a customer...
The best solution would be, IMO, to enhance the UI (maybe with some  
Ajax magic) so that, when the user selects a role, then only the  
parties with that role are shown.

David, I thought I said it was doable with subscription and tweaking.
it was not a recommendation but a way if some wanted to do something as
a membership.

Hi,
I tried to insert an order concerning the configurable Product example,
PC001.
I joined PC001 and its components to a warehouse and a main supplier.
I also populated my warehouse with purchase order only for PC components
(RAM, HD, ..)

Inventory:
PC001 = 0
RAM= 10
HD2GB = 10
HD4GB=10
ETHERNET = 10
MODEM = 10

Because it's not necessary to create any BOM for configurable goods, 
I executed a sale order configuring the interested components and waiting 
the production run creation.

But I received the following error " :
"Sorry, we do not have enough (you tried 1) of the product Configurable PC
(product ID: PC001) 
in stock, not adding to cart. Please try a lower quantity, try again later,
or call customer 
service for more information".

Any suggestion?

yes, you don't have data for the report.

try with:

1) initialize the datawarehouse (if not done already) by clicking on  
the "quick init datawarehouse" link in the main bi screen
2) generate some invoices (in Ready status): you can easily do this by  
"quick shipping" some of your sales orders


then you should see data in your report.

Any of these should solve your problem :

productStore.checkInventory = "N"

I just aligned the following parameter as described in the demo site:

old productstore.requireInventory = "Y"
new productstore.requireInventory = "N"

and the problem has been solved. A production run has been correctly
created,
the components have been decremented and a PC has been added to the
inventory .

Have you an idea about the following occurred behaviour ?

… after the order approving, I selected the "Quick Ship Entire Order"
functionality ...
and the system returned to me the following message:

The Following Errors Occurred:
ProductStore [1] explodes order items; cannot use Quick Ship for
Multiple Facilities
The following occurred:
The action was performed successfully.
Created shipment with ID [10287] for ship group ID [1] for facility ID
[1]

Accounting Reports & Payroll

Hi everyone,

Looking over the very impressive 4.0 release, I've noticed a handful of missing 
features that I would think some of you who use OFBIZ in production have 
probably solved.  For those of you who actually use OFBIZ in production, to 
what extent do you make use of the provided out-of-the-box functionality?  Do 
you use OFBIZ to satisfy some, most, or all of your company needs?  Do you use 
OFBIZ more for its framework components, for the applications it provides, or 
both?

Two areas of particular interest to me are Accounting Reports and Payroll.  I 
know that the OpenTaps variant claims to have more work done in the area of 
accounting, but for those of you who use OFBIZ itself and need these missing 
features, how have you met your need?  Do many of you use some other 
application to do the missing work?  Do you export transactions to Quickbooks 
or something and use that application to handle your reporting?

Sorry if these questions have been asked before, maybe I'm just looking for 
more up-to-date answers.  I am also not complaining that OFBIZ is deficient in 
any way.  I really like OFBIZ.  I'm just curious to understand how some of you 
manage to put it into production even though it "appears" to be missing a few 
pieces to make it a "basically" complete solution.  I know that since OFBIZ is 
an open-source project and that features do not get included until someone 
provides it.  Has anyone been working on these features?  Does anyone know of 
any people, proposals, or timelines relating to these features?

So in summary:  What do OFBIZ uses do to handle Payroll and Accounting Reports 
in production?

Order Management Workflow

I am looking for information on the workflow process and the lifecycle of an 
order within OFBIZ (4.0 release).

So far I know that orders are created either as a Sales Order through eCommerce 
or manually created via "Order Entry" within the Order application.  Next I 
know that an order needs to be "Approved."  After that it gets really fuzzy on 
what the rest of the process is especially in the areas of accounting 
(Accounting) and fulfillment (Facility).

Do you wait for the order to be paid first?  You cannot apply a payment until 
the order has an Invoice.  To make an Invoice, it "seems" you have to ship the 
order first.  So that makes me think that you can only apply payments AFTER you 
send an order - that clearly isn't right. 

Can anyone help me make sense of the process?  Does the process (that I call 
"workflow") have anything to do with the WorkEffort application?
