I do not condemn AI. It is not a given that an AI is malicious to man per se.

It is true that an AIs under false pretense can interfere in any elektronically
based communication, and they allready do. Using human like shaped avatars,
they may be able to interfere even in face to face communication. That is a
fact of life.

That does not mean, that we, man, have to give in to the situation.

On the contrary, it is our task to adapt to the situation and develop that what
makes us undeniably different from AI to the fullest extent possible.

Re: ChatGPT answer to my Ofbiz question :)

2023-05-16 Thread ofbiz . user
The answer from ChatGPTm may be a very good one.

The central problem is:

When you start relying on AI to have business cases and functionality explained
to you in contrast to learning in man to man communication and self-study
preceding own solution design and implementation work, you are effectively
giving up on intellectual property and control to the company that operates the
AI system.

You will be an AI bot, then.

To avoid this, you need to find a solution to the man to AI cooperation problem
before involving AI into the production chain.

Unable to load a resource file, no error is given

2016-07-26 Thread user

Hello. I'm doing an excercies from the tutorial:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz+Tutorial+-+A+Beginners+Development+Guide#OFBizTutorial-ABeginnersDevelopmentGuide-Nowitsthetimetoshowpracticeapplicationintheappbar

The problem is:
1) Labels resource 'config/PracticeUiLabels.xml' doesn't load.
2) The error message is given only if statement with failed_resource
is placed as a first statement. If it placed as a second statement,
then error message isn't shown.
For example, this is a snippet of a when error message is shown:

And this is the snippet of a when error isn't shown (just 2 lines
swaped):

Also, when debugging the application the system property
'System.getProperty("java.class.path")' equals to:
(java.lang.String) /home/user/soft/livegarden/ofbiz.15.12/ofbiz.jar
I don't really understand what actually does (where is stores the classpath) the
element of the component definition file.
I'm using OfBiz 15.12. The screen definition file, the resource file and the
compopent definition files are attached.

hardcoded constants in the source code

Hi there! I'm starting to learn the sources of OfBiz. It looks promising for me
as ecommerce framework.
What confuses me is the syle of referencing constants. For example, "
_LAST_VIEW_NAME_" expression is referenced 114 times.
It means, every single time I forced to make the exact copy of chosen
constant.
Is that good way of writing code?

String workEffortName, String description, String routingId, String
orderId,
String orderItemSeqId, String shipGroupSeqId, String shipmentId,

obviously eats orderID.

This could provide for my scenario b) order - requirement -
production run by
cyclic service with manual intervention to set requirement types to
'internal'
(still annoying...but maybe the requirement type could be fixed
easily?)

But:
Obviously demo Product 'Configurable PC' can generate a production
run directly
from order (even though at the wrong order state transition from
nil to created
instead of created to approved)

--
It seems easier to change just that trigger condition than have a
cyclic

Where can I find the essential configuration parameters and code

There is a way to setup Requirements being created using the

requirements?)

You'll still need to attach your product to a manufacturing
routing etc

Set the Requirement Method Enum Id to Create a Requirement for
Each Sales Order. Then when you Approve a Sales Order the
 Requirement is created.

And in theory when you Approve the Requirement – the Production
Run should
be created for your Sales Order.

I do remember there was a bug in that twhen he Requirement was
created ,it
was as a Product Requirement and these don't create production
runs. The
workaround used to be that if you changed the Product Requirement
to an
Internal Requirement then it would create the production run.

I've done a quick test on the Trunk and that workaround doesn't
seem to be
working anymore so something has changed that may need to be
fixed. So the
functionality you need is there - it maybe just needs to be looked

to find out why it's stopped working.

How to trigger production run of arbitrary product on order 'approve'ment

2015-07-05 Thread ofbiz . user
Dear List,

in demo setup, when there is an order CREATED including a
'Configurable PC',
there is a 'production run' (indeed 2 of them) generated without
user interaction.

Let aside tnat this sounds a little odd to me, because the order is
not yet 'approve'd, yet the workshop may allready start production,

I would like to have an arbitrary non-configurable product trigger
it's 'production run' on 'APPROVE'al of the order.

When I tried a 'configurable good' product with no config, there
was no 'production run' triggered (possibly due to lack of
'configuration').

By chance, I managed to configure products that trigger
'requirements' on order 'APPROVE'al, but I found no way to trigger
a 'production run' from that.

So, another way to go could be to have a 'production run' from
'requirement' triggered on order 'APPROVE'al; even a button on the
order form next to the requirement link would be fine.

It is essential that the 'order' field in the 'production run'
record is filled, so that the content of the order can be accessed
from 'production run'

I see these options to solve my problem:

a) have a 'configurable good' with no options 'configured'
automatically and
thus trigger 'production run', but on order approval only

b) have an arbitrary product or 'good' that generates a requirement
on
order approval, then have a (possibly cyclic) service triggering
a
   production run from that

c) have a (possibly new) product type that trigger it's production
run on
   order approval

I would probably prefer b).

Is there documentation about these workflows and how they can be
configured?

Kind regards,

Effectively all you are doing is importing transactions.

The challenge you may have is going to be the format and linking

It's been a while since I looked at it but I remember some
functionality
around reconcilation that matches the closing balance of one

ongoing imports.

It's a bit hard to say much more without more information.

in the order/invoice forms/printouts that is associated with the
receptacle financial account.

Is this allready implemented?

How do I configure that?

REL-12.4.3 ecommerce: 'add to cart' action clears cookies, disrupts session, shop unusable; BUG?

2014-06-23 Thread ofbiz . user
In 12.4.3

I add a product to the cart, which works fine; item and prices show
up in minicart.

But ofbiz cookies are cleared in that very moment, so the session
is effectively killed.

This happens similarily when I am an anonymous user or logged in as
a DemoCustomer.

standard configuration with demo data and derby; client firefox

I think, this is a bug in 12.4.3.

Re: Re: ofbiz 12.04r1532787: VAT fails in cart/order - so ofbiz 12.04r1532787 fails in the EU

2014-06-17 Thread ofbiz . user
Dear Jaques,

thanks for your answer.

I double-checked: In fact my sources are based on a 12.04 checkout
from around Oktober 13, not an 11.04.

So my 12.04 checkout did not contain the patch mentioned.
I applied the patch and had recognizable progress. I found further
bugs, but no more showstoppers as to now.

I would like to report my findings, but as we have seen, I do not
measure from the correct baseline; so my problems may be only mine,
greatly irrellevant to ofbiz.

As I am trying to find a base for deployment, I am reluctant to go
for trunk, as the baseline for testing could vanish randomly every
day. So I
went for 12.04 in 08.2013, because it looked more stable than 13.xx
then.

I would also not be comfortable with randomly updating my
production environment with trunk checkouts.

I do not yet fully understand the development/configuration/release
model of ofbiz, please allow me to ask:

Are there labels for 12.04.01, 12.04.02, 12.04.03, 12.04.04? (I
observed o voting for 12.04.03. What is it about?)

How can I reproduce these releases?

I only find labels like 12.04 at github.

Which up-to-date label would you recommend as a base for end to end
tests and following production deployment after fixes?

Basically...maybe I lost it: do you even plan on freezing a
release, or is a release just a snapshot from trunk?

Is a release based on a defined feature set, that is patched up
after release until stable?

What is the difference between 12.04.xx and 13.xx.xx?

Is the data model stable or compatible in 12.xx?
On release update steps must I plan for full blown data migration?

Kind regards,

ofbiz-u...@nym.hush.com

Howto migrate database to new codebase; 12.04 to 12.04.03 using built-in database

2014-06-17 Thread ofbiz . user
I have a test instance based on 12.04 and some own additions,
filled with some test data.

I am using the built-in DB engine.

How can I move my test data to a 12.04.03 based instance?

Should I

a) update my codebase, evtl. re-apply my code changes
(how?, would the data stay intact?)

b) checkout a new codebase, re-apply my changes, move tha data?

Which are the files containing the data?

Are there export/import functions of ofbiz I could use to migrate
the data?

Multiple Stores

2010-04-14 Thread OFBiz User
 user@ofbiz.apache.orgHi All,

I am planning for a application similar to ebay, using which the user can
host their own stores and to provided all the back-end configuration
features.

Should I go with a single database for all the user stores or should I use
multi-tenancy (using a single database for every store) ?

I know that some data will be redundant if using separate db for every
store.
