RE: Usage Server is running but DB is empty

2013-09-20 Thread Vadim Kimlaychuk
I got the point analyzing db.properties file till the end. There are several
database connection configurations and I have changed only the first one (#
CloudStack database settings).

If you scroll down this file till the end there are more user/password-s like #
usage database settings, # awsapi database settings. These lines must also be
changed.

So it was my mistake not to mention these settings.
No I got raw in usage_job table

Thanks,

Vadim

Hello Vadim,
do you have the usage_job table empty as well?

What I did in addition to setting DB properties is changing the following global
usage.sanity.check.interval  = 1

according to
http://www.mail-archive.com/users@cloudstack.apache.org/msg01342.html

Best Regards,

The same issue for me. Usage server installed without errors, I have checked
/etc/cloudstack/usage/db.properties file and it has correct connection
properties, but database is empty. No errors in error log either. Actually I
have no log files under /var/log/cloudstack/usage. It is strange isn't it?

Hi Radhika,

May I know how can I view the release notes in normal HTML format, instead of
the original XML format?

Does it specifically contain migration steps from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0?

Would like to try again to upgrade my current CloudStack 4.1.1 to 4.2.0,
provided I can get the detailed instruction on what to do. Last time I tried to
follow the existing documentation on the .tar.bz2 file (provided by Animesh
when he started the vote) and some of the steps seem to be not applicable
anymore, and I might have missed out some other steps which are actually
required.

Looking forward to your reply, thank you.

Cheers.

Are you attempting to create a VM with ~60 GB of RAM? That would push the
allocation percentage for memory past 85%.

eth0: 192.168.100.131/24 GW 192.168.100.254 is for public access (internet
access)
eth1: 10.3.9.50/8 no GW is for management access

Could someone please help me with the initial configuration to work with KVM
and Cloudstack?
This setup is different than the documentation. I do not want to use
openvswitch if possible.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Xen hypervisor, XCP and CS - recurring read only file systems on database VM.

2013-09-20 Thread Rafael Weingartner
Hello all,

I have this database VM running Mysql and I am getting this weird problem,
the Mysql is suddenly stopping working because the VM file systems has
become read only, so in order to fix the problem I have to run "fsck -D -f -
v -p" and then reboot the VM.

I am not understanding why this problem keeps happening, maybe the VM needs
more resource? Or maybe there is something wrong with my storage network?
Or even my shared storage?

Does anyone have any idea where I should start looking?

I am currently using cloudstack 4.1.1 with Vmware 5.0 Hypervisor with 96gb ram

Are you able to deploy your own instances? Is the secondary storage ok?

I have the traditional (multi-port) router and (L3 Cisco) switch at the

How should I configure the switching (VLANs), routing and public IP
address assignments? Should I assign all public IPs to the upstream
port on the router and forward them in? Should I get another /30 from
the DC and route the /27 in?

I plan to bring additional guest networks into the router via VPNs and
P-t-P circuits later. For now, I only have one guest network coming in
on a separate router port.

I don't have much practical experience with VLANs in Cisco switches.

Thanks in advance,

4.2 release

2013-09-20 Thread Teipel, Bjoern
Hey Guys,

How are we doing at the 4.2 release ?
I'm in the position of electing and migrating a ~1700vm architecture to a cloud
solution. We choose to build a POC with cloudstack. But I'm waiting for a while
to finally have security groups in advanced networks which is the feature for
me in 4.2.

Re: Help with host network config KVM + Centos

2013-09-20 Thread Kirk Kosinski
Open vSwitch is not required. For this configuration I don't think any
special configuration is required on the host or in CloudStack. Try
simply adding the host. CloudStack should detect the default gateway on
eth0 and create the necessary bridge on it. All traffic types will use
that bridge by default.

My main concern is if CloudStack will work with the multi-homed
configuration. If after adding the host you find that the CPVM is not
working, it may be trying and failing to connect to 10.3.9.50, so you
may need to explicitly configure management traffic to use eth1. This
is done by creating a bridge on eth1 and updating the traffic label in
CloudStack.

Best regards,
Kirk

Re: Volunteers to Complete the 4.2 Release Notes

2013-09-20 Thread Indra Pramana
Hi Radhika,

I have downloaded the PDF document, thank you very much.

I noted that there is no specific upgrade instruction from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0.
What we have there is the generic upgrade instruction from 4.x.x to 4.2.0.

I have actually tried to follow this instruction on my earlier (failed)
upgrade attempt from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0, and found out that some of the steps
are no longer applicable. For example:

Step 6: Changes from /etc/cloud/management/components.xml to
/etc/cloudstack/management/componentContext.xml is no longer required for
upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0, since we are already using /etc/cloudstack
folder (instead of /etc/cloud folder) on 4.1.1.

Step 8h: Uninstalling old cloud-* packages are not required for upgrade
from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0 (cloud-* packages do not exist).

Step 10: (KVM Only): point a - Manually clean up /var/cache/cloudstack <--
I believe this is supposed to be done on the KVM hosts? There is no
/var/cache/cloudstack folder on our KVM hosts running CloudStack agent
version 4.1.1. I have verified on all my KVM hosts. Is this step required
on the KVM hosts for upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0?

I found /var/cache/cloudstack folder on my CloudStack management server
though. Is this step supposed to be done on the management server instead
of the KVM hosts? If yes, it's not clearly mentioned.

Step 12: When I tried to run the cloudstack-sysvmadm script to restart the
system VMs, the script failed to run with some error messages.
Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take down the error messages. Is this
step required for upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0? If for some reason, we are
not able to run the script, are we able to restart the system VMs manually
(say from the CloudStack GUI)?

Looking forward to your reply, thank you.

Cheers.
