Saurav,

A method I have used in the past is to create a new Gust Physical Network which
uses the same NICs as the Management Traffic (in this case it was a XenServer
environment where the Management Traffic had a dedicated Bond).

Then I created a Guest Network with the same VLAN ID and CIDR as the Management
Network, obviously using a range of IP which was not already in use. If I
recall correctly, cloudstack did not let me do this directly, so I had to
manipulate the settings in the DB.

Then simply create a VM on this network, and they are on the Network as your
Management Infrastructure.

If you have to create a 2nd Guest Physical Network, you will need to implement
Network Tags ALL of your Network Offerings, however if your Hosts have only a
single Bond, then this step is not required.

You obviously need to run this past your security people, as you could be
opening up holes in your system.

L3 routes are also in place to ensure that Vms on the Public subnet can reach

All VMs are configured to push data to the log server, mon servers etc.

What I am trying to achieve is push the management server logs to a

It appears that since the guest vm is not part of the system

As long as you have routes in place (and proper firewall rules to allow

RE: Regarding cloudstack automation

2014-01-14 Thread Santhosh Edukulla
Umesh,

Lets put steps so that we are in same page:

1. When we deploy a VM, we use get_template function which basically retrieves
the template information matching the description you provided under services
class for ostype under test module EX: test_loadbalance.py. I am surprised
that you are receiving a featured and builtin template as windows template
as output for this function. We are explicitly verifiying the template type as
BUILTIN to retrieve the template information. So, a windows template cannot
be a BUILTIN Template. Either it could be a bug in this function, or something
with API. But, to double confirm, Can you please check whats the template
information you are retrieving from this function matching with listTemplates
API output( run either from your browser or script ) passing the same
arguments as passed inside get_template?

Inside if we see, basically it gets the id matching with that ostype
description using listOsTypes and then use listTemplates command. So, this
template is used to deploy the vm. As far as i know, a builtin template cannot
be a windows template? Here, we use a featured and builtin template along with
description filter passed. So, please check whether the template you are
retrieving is windows or otherwise. Check for the field ostypename for the
output you receive? Provide the output here for get_template copy pasted with
dir(template) for return value?

2. To double confirm that it is template issue and not any other issue related
to ssh like ( firewall\iptables\network connectivity issue) for ssh, please
manually check for that particular ip in the test case whether ssh works or not
and is not a windows machine?

3. Run one test case, first by adding a tag EX: umesh to the tags list as
mentioned below for a particular test case under test module EX:
test_loadbalance.py, then run with nose command passing in tags argument
mentioned below.

@attr(tags = [advanced, advancedns, smoke, umesh])
def test_01_create_lb_rule_src_nat(self):

nosetests-2.7 -v --with-marvin
--marvin-config=/root/softwares/cscode/setup/dev/advanced.cfg --load -a -w
/root/softwares/cscode/test/integration/smoke/ -a tags=umesh

Let me know.

template and creating the windows VM. Hence when it tries to do SSH for VM, it
fails.

I have also build the cloudstack to get the latest code for Marvin.

PFA the script logs and test_loadbalance script for reference.

Also, do let me know if I am missing some configuration or anything...

Just an FYI.. I have executed 35 scripts in smoke test directory. Out of 35

Around 50% failure are due to SSH related issue.

Where can I find the latest Cloudstack XenServer 6.2.0 supplemental package ? (need OVS tunnel functionality)

2014-01-14 Thread Florin Dumitrascu
Hi everyone,

I am currently building a test environment comprised of:

- Cloudstack version 4.2.0
- Citrix XenServer 6.2.0 (free trial version from store.citrix.com)

The final purpose is to create an advanced zone with GRE isolation.

I have been running into a number of problems and finally narrowed it down to
these 2 issues:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4599

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-3174

CLOUDSTACK-3174 seems to be the actual problem and I can see there is a fix
provided:
https://reviews.apache.org/r/12445/diff/#1

If I check '/etc/xapi.d/plugins/ovstunnel' plugin on my XenServer, I can see
that I am missing the fix mentioned in CLOUDSTACK-3174.
During XenServer installation, a CloudStack XenServer support package was
installed as mentioned in the install guide section 8.2.7,
from the following link:

http://download.cloud.com/releases/3.0.1/XS-6.0.2/xenserver-cloud-supp.tgz

Is there an updated version of this support package ? How can I browse a list
of these packages ?
Or to put it simply in other words, how can I make XenServer 6.2.0 and
Cloudstack 4.2.0 work with the following fetaures:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/OVS+Tunnel+Manager+for+CloudStack
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/Add+Xen+and+XCP+support+for+GRE+SDN+controller

(I think it is worth mentioning that in my setup, advanced zone with VLAN
isolation is also not working due to the same OVS tunnel issues)

Thank you in advance,
Florin

If you need to, I believe you can resize the Root Volume on the Hypervisor, but
obviously this will have be completed by Admins with Hypervisor access, and not

Cloudstack 4.2.1 / Xenserver 6.1 GRE tunnelling / createTunnelNetwork failed

2014-01-14 Thread Dag Sonstebo
Hi,

I’ve spent a fair bit of lab time trying to get GRE tunnelling working in
CloudStack 4.2.1 / Xenserver 6.1 but have had no luck so far.

As per various posts, documents and wiki articles I’ve got:

- Xenserver 6.1 cluster with all patches, CloudStack 4.2.1 installed from RPMs
(CentOS 6.5).
- Advanced zone configuration (no security groups).
- Public and management networks configured with VLAN isolation (bonds).
- sdn.ovs.controller set to “true, sdn.ovs.controller.default.label set to
network label of the guest network.
- Guest network traffic configured for GRE, IP interfaces configured on the
guest network and “VLAN range” configured.

The problem is tunnels won’t come up, tagged networks are created but no GRE
tunnels are created between XS hosts. Whilst the SSVM and CP come online the
domain router and the first VM fail to start.
Checking the management server logs the root cause seems to point to a
“createTunnelNetwork failed” error.

Doing a bit more digging I found the following bug logged back in September:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4599

1) Considering the bug above was logged for CS4.1 - is GRE under active
development as per 4.2.1/4.3? Is it considered to be a working component of
CloudStack?
2) Has anyone managed to get GRE tunnelling working - if so are there any
patches / workarounds / specific component versions required?

Regards,
Dag

Doing a bit more digging I found the following bug logged back in
 September:

 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4599

 1) Considering the bug above was logged for CS4.1 - is GRE under active
development as per 4.2.1/4.3? Is it considered to be a working component of
 CloudStack?
 2) Has anyone managed to get GRE tunnelling working - if so are there any
patches / workarounds / specific component versions required?

 Regards,
 Dag
