Re: Snapshot exceptions on 4.2.1 with NFS and S3

2014-04-02 Thread Thomas O'Dowd
Nux! Thanks for this link. I found this earlier through the list also.
I initially discounted it as it seemed to be talking about VM snapshots
on CentOS 6.5 and I'm having trouble with Volume snapshots on COS 6.4.

However, I checked what version of RPM I had installed:

Installed on my COS 6.4 box:
- qemu-img-0.12.1.2-2.415.el6_5.6.x86_64

Your linked page shows this version:
- qemu-img-0.12.1.2-2.355.el6_4_4.1.x86_64.rpm

Hmmm. Different. My RPM looks like a newer version. I had a look at yum
info qemu-img and my package comes from 6.4 Updates. Anyway - decided to
uninstall my package and install the 355 version that you were using.
After installing I rebooted. I really didn't expect anything to change
but Volume Snapshots now work! YEAH!

Snapshot also goes all the way to S3 so that part is working fine too.

Happy days and thanks for your help!

Tom.

I can confirm that User VPN for VPC works just like the User VPN for a normal

Subject: VPN for VPC feature in 4.3

Hi,

I have noticed an issue in working with VPN for VPC which is a new feature
introduced in CloudStack 4.3(1.1.6 Remote Access VPN for VPC section of
CloudStack 4.3 release notes).
Regular remote VPN for guest networks fine without any problem whereas, VPN for
VPN isn't working.

When I checked the VPC router, there is no IP address assigned to its public
Nic.
Has anyone noticed this behaviour? Does this seem like a bug? Any known
workaround available?

Thanks Geoff. Actually, eth1 for VPC router is missing.

When I looked at log file, surprisingly a request has been sent to create
router VM with two NICs(one link local and other public) whereas, the router
was created with only one NIC.

Any thoughts? fyi, I'm running CloudStack 4.3 with KVM nodes.

Here attached is log file snippet containing both request and response info on
router start command:

(Highlighted NIC entries in the log with red and green texts).

Yes Benoit, I have 40% of free public IPs available. So, that should not be an

I don’t see any errors in log file too. Have you noticed any exceptions in log

How do I remove a host from Cloudstack agent?

2014-04-02 Thread Sugandh S
Hello all,

I have two servers, one running both Cloudstack-server and Cloudstack-agent and
the other one only running Cloudstack-agent.

How do I remove the second host from Cloudstack.

Thanks,

Re: VPN for VPC feature in 4.3

2014-04-02 Thread benoit lair
Yes, i found exceptions in the log file, but the reason was because i ran
out of public ips.

Could you paste the complete mgmt log file onto pastebin.com ?

Have you already succeded with the creation of a shared network including
the creation of a vr vm ? Did it take a public ip ?
By the past, i had issue with network's labeling onto my hypervisors
(xenservers) and this is what caused this problem.

Yes Benoit, I have 40% of free public IPs available. So, that should not
 be an issue.

I don’t see any errors in log file too. Have you noticed any exceptions in
log files by any chance when you encountered this issue?

 Thanks,

 Hi Praveen,

I already have this issue with vpc vr :
Have you checked if you have some public ip adresses available on your
 zone ?

 Regards, Benoit.

Thanks Geoff. Actually, eth1 for VPC router is missing.

When I looked at log file, surprisingly a request has been sent to
create router VM with two NICs(one link local and other public)
whereas, the router was created with only one NIC.

Any thoughts? fyi, I'm running CloudStack 4.3 with KVM nodes.

Here attached is log file snippet containing both request and response
  info on router start command:

(Highlighted NIC entries in the log with red and green texts).

xenbr0 : acting as Management network and no VLAN is assigned to it
xenbr1 : acting as public, guest storage network. All of this are in same
VLAN.
Also I have given same name-label as here in Cloudstack network
configuraion.

I don't know much about xen VLAN networking..if anything wrong please
point it out.

Adding a host

2014-04-02 Thread Jonathan Gowar
Hi,

I am building a new small CloudStack. I have the Managment server and
DB together, and have a separate Storage server. The UI is operational,
so some success.

I would now like to add a host. I followed this guide
https://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/en-US/Apache_CloudStack/4.2.0/html/Installation_Guide/hypervisor-kvm-install-flow.html
 specifically the bit about networking:-

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto eth0.100
iface eth0.100 inet static
address 192.168.42.11
netmask 255.255.255.240
gateway 192.168.42.1
dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
dns-domain lab.example.org

# Public network
auto cloudbr0
iface cloudbr0 inet manual
bridge_ports eth0.200
bridge_fd 5
bridge_stp off
bridge_maxwait 1

# Private network
auto cloudbr1
iface cloudbr1 inet manual
bridge_ports eth0.300
bridge_fd 5
bridge_stp off
bridge_maxwait 1

After doing this, and rebooting I lose connectivity. This is because
eth0 is now tagged as suggested in the guide, but I don't think there is
vLAN tagging on the rest of the network.

What's the easy solution to this?

Is it documented how to vLAN correctly the rest of my installation?

Regards,
Jon

Check Virtual Machine deployment

2014-04-02 Thread Felippe da Motta Raposo
Hello all,

Is there anybody here who knows how to check if there is enough
infrastructure available before the virtual machine deployment?

Regards,
Felippe Raposo.

Re: No outbound traffic with F5 as loadbalancer network offering

2014-04-02 Thread Amin Pashapour
Sanjeev,

Clearly the problem is in the VR, since I can see activities (using tcpdump) in
my VR when I try to telnet to any external server on port 80 on my vm's.  I
enabled LOGGING on iptables in the VR and can see packets being dropped.  Even
after I make iptables everything ACCEPT, I can't go out to google on port 80.

Is there any other log files that I can look at for some hints?

Thanks
Amin

I am still stuck with this issue.

Looks like the virtualrouter is not allowing any outbound traffic, but I have
set the egress to allow all TCP ports from 1-64000.
I have restarted my virtualrouter several times and still nothing outbound.
Any hints? Any buttons to push?

Appreciate it in advance

Hi All,

On CloudStack 4.2.1, I have set up a network that uses an offering with F5 as
loadbalancer. All other features use VirtualRouter.  Everything is working fine
going southbound to the two VM's I
 am loadbalancing.

But when I am on either one of these VM's, I can't get to anything external.  I
can get to the virtual router/gateway or other internal VM's. I can resolve
www.google.com but I can't telnet to google.com on port 80

I have set egress on my network to ALL protocols from 0.0.0.0/0.  I have also
disabled iptables and still nothing going out.

I can go outside when I use the default network offering.

Any hint on what could be the cause is greatly appreciated. Or any hint on how
to troubleshoot!

Thanks.

I removed the vLAN and swapped eth0 with cloudbr0 before it would even
communicate. Not sure if that's a typo in the documentation, or if I've
just kludged it through.

Now when I attempt to add the host I get this output from setup.log

I would now like to add a host. I followed this guide
 https://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/en-US/Apache_CloudStack/4.2.0/html/Installation_Guide/hypervisor-kvm-install-flow.html
  specifically the bit about networking:-

 auto lo
 iface lo inet loopback

 # The primary network interface
 auto eth0.100
 iface eth0.100 inet static
 address 192.168.42.11
 netmask 255.255.255.240

 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
 dns-domain lab.example.org

 auto cloudbr0
 iface cloudbr0 inet manual
 bridge_ports eth0.200
 bridge_fd 5
 bridge_stp off
 bridge_maxwait 1

 # Private network
 auto cloudbr1
 iface cloudbr1 inet manual
 bridge_ports eth0.300
 bridge_fd 5
 bridge_stp off
 bridge_maxwait 1

After doing this, and rebooting I lose connectivity. This is because
eth0 is now tagged as suggested in the guide, but I don't think there is
vLAN tagging on the rest of the network.

What's the easy solution to this?

Is it documented how to vLAN correctly the rest of my installation?

Re: No outbound traffic with F5 as loadbalancer network offering

2014-04-02 Thread Amin Pashapour

I re-did the whole thing again and this time it works perfectly.  The only
difference that I can tell is that in the new network offering with F5 as
loadbalancer, I set the default egress policy to deny. Then I went ahead and
set the egress allow policy on the the SourceNAT external IP for the new
network.

I also used the first additional IP for loadbalancing. Last time I had used the
first one for portforwarding.

Hope this helps others.

Thanks.

Re: [SOLVED] Adding a host

2014-04-02 Thread Jonathan Gowar
Finally I have been able to add a host.

This failed for 2 reasons, firstly I didn't edit libvirtd.conf
correctly; with mdns_adv = 1 , it should equal 0, this prevented
libvirtd from starting, and thus in turn cloudstack-agent.

Secondly, I don't know if there's a typo in the documentation, but I had
to use this network interface configuration; swapping eth0 and
cloudbr0's static and manual lines:-

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet manual

# Public network
auto cloudbr0
iface cloudbr0 inet static
address 192.168.42.11
netmask 255.255.255.240
gateway 192.168.42.1
dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
dns-domain lab.example.org`
bridge_ports eth0
bridge_fd 5
bridge_stp off
bridge_maxwait 1

# Private network
auto cloudbr1
iface cloudbr1 inet manual
bridge_ports none
bridge_fd 5
bridge_stp off
bridge_maxwait 1

Subject: Cloud Stack 4.2.1 issue (Unable to start instance due to DB Exception)

Hello,

We are facing an issue when we spin up a new instance with a new network
(router VM), it gives the following error:

Resource [Host:59] is unreachable: Host 59: Unable to start instance due to DB
Exception on: com.mysql.jdbc.JDBC4PreparedStatement@5126808a: INSERT INTO
user_statistics (user_statistics.data_center_id, user_statistics.account_id,
user_statistics.public_ip_address, user_statistics.device_id,
user_statistics.device_type, user_statistics.network_id,
user_statistics.net_bytes_received, user_statistics.net_bytes_sent,
user_statistics.current_bytes_received, user_statistics.current_bytes_sent,
user_statistics.agg_bytes_received, user_statistics.agg_bytes_sent) VALUES (1,
28, null, 360, _binary'DomainRouter', 237, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0)

Also we are facing this error every now and then:

(DirectAgent-93:null) GetStorageStats Exception:SR_BACKEND_FAILURE_40The SR
scan failed
[opterr=uuid=870ed96e-d62b-428a-88dc-41afc75d311a]host:13944281-3f7e-4065-8580-1dc5b64cfdb1storageid:

However when spinning a new instance with an existing network (router VM) it
works fine!! Has anyone faced this issue, your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Limiting Bandwidth

2014-04-02 Thread Xerex Bueno
I have checked the QOS settings on the VM, they are all set to 25600Kbps
regardless of what I set the value to in the network offering. Is there
something that I am missing, or are others also experiencing this issue?

I am running ACS 4.3 with Xenserver 6.2 fully patched. When I create a
network offering and specify the bandwidth to be 1Mbps, then create a new
network and VM it doesn't apply the bandwidth limit. Why is this
happening?

Re: Is it possible to run Virualbox vm Cloudstack vm using kvm as hypervisor together?

2014-04-02 Thread Mir Islam
Sorry that does not make sense to me. If you have migrated to Cloudstack
from VirtualBox, what exactly do you want to start on VB now? A new VM or
the old one which got migrated out? If the old VM is still in the system
you can start with VirtualBox, I do not see the problem. But I suspect I am
not understanding your question at all.

Hi Sugandh,

Put the host you want to remove in maintenance mode and then delete from CS.

Hello all,

I have two servers, one running both Cloudstack-server and Cloudstack-agent and
the other one only running Cloudstack-agent.

How do I remove the second host from Cloudstack.

Thanks,

RE: Limiting Bandwidth

2014-04-02 Thread Sowmya Krishnan
For User VM, I think you have set network rate in the service offering. Or
globally in vm.network.throttling.rate. If not defined in service offering, it
picks the global setting as the default value.
