Re: CS 4.5 + XEN 6.5 using bond and pvlan

2015-11-23 Thread Vadim Kimlaychuk

Dear Stavros,

 We also use XS 6.5 with bonding(active-backup) and VLANs, but this
discussion is about PVLANs. It is a bit different isolation method that
should also work for some CS distributions.

Vadim.

Hi Vadim,

Thanks for your reply. For the 4.6 release we changed the way we work.
Instead of branching off early and making a release branch stable, we
decided to stabilise master. We got many complaints that master didn't
compile at times or functionality wasn't tested before it entered
master.
Making master stable was quite some work, even harder than making a
release
branch stable. I can imagine that process gives you the impression of
"many

problems".

In reality, this should bring more stable releases. 4.7 will be built
on
top of 4.6, so if 4.6 is good, 4.7 will be better (and so on). In the
past,
4.5 was not built on top of 4.4 (so you saw problems coming back and
had to

wait until a .1 or .2 release, indeed).

4.6.0 was released after just two RC voting rounds, while previous
releases needed more of them. That says something about the quality
IMHO.

This is not so related to the question that was asked but I wanted to
be
sure there weren't any "problems" in 4.6 that I didn't know about (so
they

could be addressed). It's perfectly fine not to upgrade yet. But please
don't give people the impression there are "many problems" while you
cannot

name them.

In the mean while we work on 4.6.1 and 4.7.0 and hopefully some day
you'll

have a smooth upgrade and enjoy the new features.

If you need any help with upgrading, please drop us a line on the dev
list.

Re: SSVM and CPVM

2015-11-23 Thread Yan Bai
By the way, there is a similar error mention in document below:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/SSVM,+templates,+Secondary+storage+troubleshooting

Seems this error is caused by corrupted keystore. I tried the solution in
the document but did not solve this issue.

Re: SSVM and CPVM

2015-11-23 Thread Yan Bai
I got same error when I deployed CloudStack 4.5 on CentOS 6.5 with yum
repository(http://cloudstack.apt-get.eu/). I investigated this issue a lot
online but I failed to find a solution. Then I tried to deploy CloudStack
4.3 on Ubuntu then I did not see this error and the system running well.

Cloudstack 4.6 PVLAN on Xen 6.5

2015-11-23 Thread Keerthiraja SJ
Hi All,

As per the below link PVLAN on Xen 6.5 will work because I tried on 4.5.2 I
could see OVS plugin error.

Is this issue been resolved in 4.5.3 or 4.6. It will be so great if someone
can answer that on which version I can expect because we are holding
production implementation for almost a month for our client.

Failed to configure HA in active/active setup

2015-11-23 Thread Stavros Konstantaras
Hi there,

I am trying to setup High Availability on Cloudstack 4.5.2 in a Master-Master
implementation with MySQL DB but I get the following error:
——
2015-11-24 00:29:01,988 INFO  [c.c.u.d.T.Transaction] (main:null) Is Data Base

——

The target is fault tolerance so in case of failure of the first server then we
can continue working as normal with the second server. I tried to debug this
but unfortunately it still goes on.
I checked open ports with netstat and mysql listens to all interfaces
“0.0.0.0:3306”

I enabled HA in db.properties and I inserted the IP of the second server in
db.cloud.slaves and db.usage.slaves (it is also viewable in the error above).

——
Of course I configured my.cnf file which is quite simple:
[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
user=mysql

symbolic-links=0
innodb_rollback_on_timeout=1
innodb_lock_wait_timeout=600
default-storage-engine=InnoDB
character-set-server=utf8
transaction-isolation=READ-COMMITTED
innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit=1
max_connections=350

# ~ HA ~
server-id=1 (THIS VALUE IS 2 IN THE SAME FILE OF THE SECOND SERVER)
log-bin=mysql-bin
binlog-format='ROW'
sync_binlog=1

# Bin logs cleanup configuration
expire_logs_days=10
max_binlog_size=100M

[mysqld_safe]
log-error=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
——

I place the HA java plug-in under
"/usr/share/cloudstack-mysql-ha/lib/cloud-plugin-database-mysqlha-4.5.2.jar”
——

In catalina.properties my common.loader looks normal:
"common.loader=${catalina.base}/lib,${catalina.base}/lib/*.jar,${catalina.home}/lib,${catalina.home}/lib/*.jar,/usr/share/java/mysql-connector-java.jar,/usr/share/cloudstack-mysql-ha/lib/*jar”

After unlimited restarts of both cloudstack-management and mysqld the problem
still remains. Both IPs are pingable between the two servers. Any other idea or
suggestion on solving that? Thank you in advance.

Best regards
Stavros

Yes, but the problem came in fact from an unused "ghost" hyper-v cluster, who

Unless I am mistaken, Cs already does that. Once you deploy a VM if you do
not destroy it, its ip address will always be the same.

DHCP reservations on VR

2015-11-23 Thread Makrand
Hello Cstackers,

I am wondering if is it possible to add HDCP reservations on VR? Lets say
I've a network with 10 VMs. Out of 10, for 4 VMs I want DHCP obtained IP to
remain constant. In a real world, I can go to my GW device and set that
feature (MAC Address>>IP address entries and achieve DHCP reservations).
Wondering if that is doable on VR. And I want it to remain this persistent
across reboot of VRs.

Hi,

Apache CloudStack 4.6.0 is deemed stable, but as with any major release it
contains new features and major rewrites, so there are likely bugs
somewhere.

On the other hand, this is probably the version that has been most tested
before release, so I wouldn't be more worried about using 4.6.0 than 4.5.2.

It is stables, but off course as any software it can have bugs.
