2021-09-17 Thread Suresh Anaparti

Suresh

Hello,

From where do I get this minRam value? I used a compute offering

RE: Problems setting up HTTPS on CS Managementserver GUI / recommadations relizing

2021-09-17 Thread Yordan Kostov
Hi,

I do remember having issues with the steps in Shapeblue guide.
Eventually I threw some notes for a future guide you can check here ->
https://github.com/dredknight/cloud_scripts/blob/master/CloudStack-Xen/ACS-ssl-gui-guide.sh
I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Hi,

afaik the most common setup is
(1) start (multiple) cloudstack management server with port 8080
(2) setup a reverse proxy (nginx/pfsense/haproxy, etc) which supports SSL
termination and transparent LB.
(3) upload ssl certificate in cloudstack GUI, and enable SSL for cloudsack
console proxy and secondary storage.

For kvm environments, I suggest to set the value to 1 (in global setting

Re: The RAM MEM inside KVM instance is not the same as it was set

2021-09-17 Thread Daniel Augusto Veronezi Salvador
Hi, Cristian,

When ACS is deploying a VM, it defines a minimum memory|CPU to the VM, based on
a calculation through the overprovisioning (defined mem|cpu speed /
overprovisioning factor); Therefore, it will define a range of memory|CPU, even
if it does not use scalable (dynamic) service offerings.

For now, the option to avoid this behavior is to keep memory overprovisioning
as "1", as Wei suggested. However, in version 4.16.0, there'll be two new
global settings
("vm.min.memory.equals.memory.divided.by.mem.overprovisioning.factor" and
"vm.min.cpu.speed.equals.cpu.speed.divided.by.cpu.overprovisioning.factor") to
avoid it.

This is the PR which introduced it:
https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/4722

Best regards,
Daniel

Re: vm template with data disk

2021-09-17 Thread Darren Cole
I would think you could overcome this to some extant with cloud-init on linux.

But...
Would require user to add a data disk when creating instance.
Limited to the 1 disk in the add instance wizard.
Possible errors if no data disk added by user.
Requires custom cloud-init configuration baked into the template.
Assumes device names are consistent (pretty sure this is true for specific
Linux distros, but may not hold for all Linux distros).
Assumes cloud-init can be configured to do this with the version present on
your distro.

So not optimal or as easy as a data disk being part of a template, but might
work for your use case.
