2011-08-31 Thread Jack Cambel
So sorry for the late reply, it got lost in the flood of mail. I have to figure
out to better organize my mail.

I figured it out, I don't know why or how but Cell Format was set in Boolean
Value.

nvsoar Could be. Nobody can tell without any data nor formulas from
the original poster. Unlike Excel, the boolean data type is just a subtype of
the decimal type. The number format "BOOLEAN" displays any non-zero number as
TRUE and all the rest as FALSE. In Excel there is a separate boolean data type,
so TRUE and FALSE are never equal to any number.

Hi :)
It might be worth starting a new thread with just a brief new email. The list
has been quiet for a couple of days so they might notice it this time.
Normally
i would say just bump your own thread by posting a new comment to the same
thread but it's been ages since you posted so it's probably better to politely
try to catch attention afresh.

Good luck and regards from

[libreoffice-users] Linking between two separate spreadsheets result in Err:509.

2011-08-31 Thread fruitjam
Dear All,

Whenever I try to link to a cell in a different spreadsheet, the following
error results:
Err:509.

The following formula appears automatically as a result of my attempt to
link the two spreadsheets.
='file:///e:/dox/pc's documents/street address.ods'#sheet1.e4

The two spreadsheets have been created using LibreOffice 3.3.3 / OOO330m19
(Build:301) / tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1.

I understand that there is a workaround using DDE. But that may not be an
easy option for a general user who has limited understanding about how links
work in LibreOffice.

Further, spreadsheets created using MS Office and which have links leading
to cells in other Excel files would also require that such links be replaced
with the DDE syntax. An exercise which is cumbersome in many cases where
spreadsheets run into dozens in a single file.

Yours respectfully,
Fruitjam

The apostrophe in pc's is the culprit.
Encoding the spaces and the apostrophe may work:
='file:///e:/dox/pc%27s%20documents/street%20address.ods'#sheet1.e4
If not, remove the apostrophe from the folder name.

Worked! Thanks!

But how do I go about encoding several scores of links in a given
spreadsheet? Do I have to manually edit all of those? Or is there a
shortcut?

I note that blank space, if present, in the sheet name need not be encoded.

2011-08-31 Thread Andreas Säger
You can use find&replace to fix all your formulas.
Programmers, administrators and web-designers use to avoid special
characters in path names.
Apart from that, it is *always* a bad idea to split sheets across documents.
The target document keeps a copy of the referenced data anyway, so why not
store all the sheets in a single document?

Just a quick note for everyone else who has spent ages balancing the advantages

In the Release Notes it states the following - quote: "If you run

to e.g. use OpenJDK instead."

Google points to the following URL: "http://openjdk.java.net/"; but the

SO any ideas where people can get OpenJDK as recommended in the

Hi :)
Hmm, i hadn't really noticed that and tend to ignore that particular issue
anyway. Hopefully the old java 2.6.0_21 is still quite fast? The _22 or _20
are hopefully still reasonably fast. The reason i ignore that particular
disclaimer is because i assume it is aimed at the newer versions of java such
as
the _24 or __26 or the ultra new 2.7.something? I think sticking with the old
2.6.0_21 or close to it neatly avoids the problems.

Hi :)
Is it possible to use Camel Case instead of using spaces? Spaces do seem to
cause confusions in some places but not others.
IFindNamesLikeThisReasonablyEasyToFollow = CamelCase
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CamelCase
It's also quite commonly used in wiki pages to quickly link to pages

Alternativessuchasthis are almost impossible to read and although i like
Things-like-this or
Underscores_between_words
they sometimes create problems too. CamelCase seems to work everywhere tho.

2011-08-31 Thread fruitjam
How do I use find & replace to fix all the formulas which have such lengthy
reference statements? For starters, each cell would have to be checked for
cell references, and then again checks will have to be conducted to identify
those with apostrophes and spaces within the formulas.

The problem is that I do not choose how my users manage their data across
documents. My advice may not be heeded simply because the spreadsheets and
their data come from varied sources. And therein lies the crux of the
problem.

Fruitjam

[libreoffice-users] Re: Fedora 14 and Libreoffice

2011-08-31 Thread Tom
Hi :)
I am not certain how to install LibreOffice without the report builder.
hopefully there might be something useful in this guide
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/linux/
or
http://www.unixmen.com/linux-tutorials/1218-install-libreoffice-in-linux-fedora-ubuntu-debian-
But i would tend to use the package manager to install which-ever version
the Fedora people have put in the repos instead of downloading and
installing "by hand". The package manager should make it all easy but you
just have to accept whichever version they have tweaked for Fedora.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Lotus Wordpro files

2011-08-31 Thread Declan Moriarty
I have managed to open Lotus WordPro files.  I use 3.4.2 on Mac.  The standard
file that Libo gives to test Lotus WordPro import works.  I have found that
graphics don't get imported!  Text does.
If you have lots of .lwp files your bet option is to use KeyView for Lotus on
the PC, or if you have Lotus WordPro, export to MS Word.  Note also the First
FileView 2.2 and QuickView Plus on the PC will also open .lwp files.

Is anyone able to open Lotus Wordpro files in any Version 3.4?
3.4.2 would generated a i/o error and 3.4.3 give me a blank file.

I still get the following:

Where is "from here"? Where is the server located? Could there be some
break in communication, due to the power outages from the Tropical Storm
damage, and the DNS routering between me and the server have not found a
new path? For me, I am in New York State USA, on the eastern fringe of
the storm. 30-40 mph winds and medium to heavy rains. Not much damage
here. But if you drive 2 hours east, you get downed power lines, washed
out roads and bridges, and a whole lot of mess. To get to NY City from
here you go 1.5 hours east and 3+ hours south [as the highway travels].

Lotus won't install on Windows 7 and we have 1000's of active lwp files
that need modification regularly, so a viewer won't work.
3.3.4 works, so the filters must have been changed for 3.4.x

Any word on if it fixes the bugs with writer/base? For instance, in LO
3.4.2, some forms always display with print layout when web layout has
been selected. LO 3.4.2 also seems to crash when doing a search through
a database form (at least, under Windows XP). Don't have any of those
problems in 3.3.4, so unless those are fixed, I'm stickin' with what I
got! :-)

I tried that last time, and it removed 3.3 when installing 3.4 (again,
Windows XP). Is there a way to install them side-by-side?

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Fedora 14 and Libreoffice

2011-08-31 Thread webmaster for Kracked Press Productions

--- one ---

I did not see the other message[s] in the thread, so the question for me
is: "Why do you need to install LO without Oracle's Report Builder"? Is
there some install issue with that extension?

Also, since it is locked, how do you uninstall it with the Extension
Manager?

Can you un-archive the download files from LO's web site, then remove
the Report Builder file from the install files there, and then install
LO? Or, would you get some install error when the "controlling" file
looks for the Report Builder install file and since it does not find it,
the install is stopped?

I use Ubuntu, not Fedora, so I do not remember if you would use RPM
install files?

--- two ---

Then there is the ongoing question of why people keep telling other to
use Repository versions instead of downloading the install files from
LibreOffice? I use Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the repository version of LO is
really old. So I have to install the LO download, instead of using the
repository. At least I am not forced to use Firefox 6.x that is the
default 11.04's repository.

--- three ---

[off topic]
Why I have not upgraded so far.
I have not gone to 11.04 due to a "default" monitor resolution change
from 10.04/10.10 to 11.04. My monitor the max resolution of my video
card and 11.04 uses that for the default resolution install.

[end off topic]

just have to accept whichever version they have tweaked for Fedora.

Because the primary doc may be used by an employee and that doc
generates information the employee should have no access to. The second
doc has the private data.

This is useful when the primary doc uses a macro to generate the data
for the second doc so the primary doc does NOT have a copy of the output
of the macro.

Why not install Virtual PC?  I have a client who had to do this and it works
very well.

You have found one of the major deficiency of Microsloth Winblows.  I use Lotus
Wordpro for 99% of my word processing, saving OpenOffice/LibreOffice for basic
documents of less than 5 pages.  Of course, since I use eCS (otherwise known as
OS/2) I have no problem with my WordPro documents.  On those occasions when I
must use Windows it is XP.

2011-08-31 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Perhaps an intermittent problem like the OpenOffice.org servers?

I would definitely try the normal java but a version around 2.6.0_21 rather
than
anything newer. The new ones seem to break LibreOffice somehow but are better
for web-browsers apparently. Luckily it's very easy to have both and it's easy
to select which one LibreOffice uses. I think the web-browsers tend to
automatically choose the newest version so, hopefully, it should all work out.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: 3.4.3 released. Stable and functionality combined

2011-08-31 Thread webmaster for Kracked Press Productions

There were problems with Oracle's/Sun's JRE - higher number of the 6.x.x
versions - so I have been told for Windows and maybe Linux and Mac. The
7.x.x version is out, but I have not tried it on my Windows computer. I
am sticking with the one I have from the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS repository,
since it works. In LO Tools>Options>Java [Ubuntu], it shows Sun's
1.6.0_20 version of Java. That should be version 6.0.20, so I am a
little out of date. The latest "6" version is version 6 update 27. The
download page has instruction about removing older versions. The page
does not say which version the 7.x.x download is.

So, if you want a working JRE, other than OpenJDK, I/we have version 6
update 23 on the NA-DVD install page, near the bottom. Drew is still
working on the CMS version at the LibreOfficeBox site, so it might be
better to go to the original site at
"http://libreoffice-na.us/English/install.html"; Once the OpenJDK site
is back up, I hope to remember to download copies of it to be included
with the older Sun JRE that works. Then people can have a choice.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Linking between two separate spreadsheets result in Err:509.

2011-08-31 Thread Andreas Säger
Well, you are in the ugly trap of "document security" which simply does not
exist. Once the document is loaded, all referenced data are freely
accessible by means of formulas, macros or using your web browser
(content.xml).
In case of URL links the data are embedded in the document, which is why all
formulas continue working even when the referenced files are unavaillable.
In case of DDE links the referenced documents are loaded invisibly.

A simple database could solve all of your problems. I learned this lesson 12
years ago when my Excel/VBA solution caused considerable financial damage
and a database developer developed a solution within 3 days where I spent
hundreds of hours with VBA and interrelated spreadsheets.

Lotus won't install on Windows 7 and we have 1000's of active lwp files

3.3.4 works, so the filters must have been changed for 3.4.x

you show 2.6.0_21. My Ubuntu version shows 1.6.0_20. Was that a error,
or is something wrong on my end. The files just say similar to the
Windows version named "jre-6u23-windows-i586-s.exe". There is no "1" or
"2" in front of the version. The "1" in front of the Ubuntu repository

I was told, if I remember correctly, that the issues started somewhere

test ISO from the later winter or early spring.

Hi :)
You don't need to know about programming just to report a bug. It's just like
emailing really, or a forum post. Keep the subject line extremely short and
just use keywords such as "Lotus Wordpro files, regression in 3.4.x". Then a
bit more description in the main part. Try to keep it fairly brief but
informative.

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport

It can take a long while to fix a bug and there are a lot of reports to work
through so don't expect instant results! You probably can do some Entry Level
tasks to help the devs but it might not make your bug-report get seen much
faster as there is so much to do.

http://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/developers/

Most of us pick some other area to work in such as Documentation or something
but if you can develop skills or help the devs then that helps the project
hugely.

Regards from
Tom :)

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: 3.4.3 released. Stable and functionality combined

2011-08-31 Thread Don Myers

Hi Everyone,

For me, the issues with LibreOffice started with Java 1.6.0_24 and
continued with 1.6.0_26. I run Ubuntu 11.04. Ubuntu, for the last
several releases, has not shipped Java with it, but uses an open Java
called Iced Tea. I always install Sun Java once I have a new version
installed. When the issues arose with 1.6.0_24, I deleted all of Sun
Java, and went back to Iced Tea. I had not luck with it working any
better than the Sun Java 1.6.0_24. I've been running 1.6.0_26 for my
browsers, and 1.6.0_21 for LibreOffice for about 3 weeks now, and
everything works perfectly. Based on my past experience of trying Iced
Tea, I'll stick with the two Java versions. I'm presently running
LibreOffice 3.4.2 and hope to install 3.4.3 tonight.

The key numbers in versions in comparing Linux versions and Windows
versions of Java are the 6 ( Linux 1.*6*.0_21
jre-*6*u21-windows-i586-s.exe ) and the 20 whatever ( Linux 1.6.0_*21*
jre-6u*21*-windows-i586-s.exe ). So, Linux version 1.6.0_21 and windows
jre-6u21-windows-i586-s.exe are the same version for their respective
platforms.

[libreoffice-users] BASE Query/Report

2011-08-31 Thread ncreamer
The base_tutorial provides an query example where you first count a subset of
data (number of patients with ptsd) and divide that by the total number of
patients with any diagnosis.

Is there a way to - using this same patient example - query for the
percentages of the whole for *all* diagnosis? In the base tutorial, you find
the number of patients with X diagnosis with a SELECT statement. But I want
to COUNT by data entry values and then derive percentages for each of the
whole set. In the pasted example below, I'm looking at the second select
statement and trying to figure out how to COUNT a total for each diagnosis
present, not just where diagnosis=ptsd. I'm hoping to create a simple pie
chart using the SRB to demonstrate that data. Appreciate any assistance.

SELECT COUNT (*) AS "Total Patients" FROM "Patients";

SELECT COUNT (*) AS "Total PTSD Patients" FROM "Patients" WHERE
"Diagnosis"='PTSD';

SELECT( CAST ("Total PTSD"."Total PTSD Patients" AS REAL ) / CAST
( "Total Patients"."Total Patients" AS REAL )* 100) AS "Percentage
of PTSD Patients"
FROM "Total PTSD", "Total Patients";

[libreoffice-users] Setting format code in macro

2011-08-31 Thread Kristian Benoit
Hi all,

I'm trying to set the format of a column to 3 decimals from a macro.

I found that after changing the number of decimal by hand, the NumberFormat
property is set to 106, but setting the NumberFormat property on a fresh
column is not enough. I guess I must set a format code to "0.000" as in
right-click on column/Format Cells.../Numbers/Format Code, but cant find the
object/method to set that.

Anyone can help ?
Thanks,
Kristian

Hi :)
Oooops, yes i keep writing 2 when it's obviously 1! The only bit i really take
notice of is the end part, the _21 or _20 or whatever. The 1.7.??? is very
confusing. Similarly with Linux (the kernel in Gnu&Linux) suddenly jumping
version numbers to "something much easier" and skipping a few numbers just
because Linus Torvalds felt like it, lol. The java _20 is reputedly about as
fast as it gets but the _21 is supposedly a bit faster on some systems, if

Hi Everyone,

For me, the issues with LibreOffice started with Java 1.6.0_24 and continued
with 1.6.0_26. I run Ubuntu 11.04. Ubuntu, for the last several releases, has
not shipped Java with it, but uses an open Java called Iced Tea. I always
install Sun Java once I have a new version installed. When the issues arose
with
1.6.0_24, I deleted all of Sun Java, and went back to Iced Tea. I had not luck
with it working any better than the Sun Java 1.6.0_24. I've been running
1.6.0_26 for my browsers, and 1.6.0_21 for LibreOffice for about 3 weeks now,
and everything works perfectly. Based on my past experience of trying Iced Tea,
I'll stick with the two Java versions. I'm presently running LibreOffice 3.4.2
and hope to install 3.4.3 tonight.

The key numbers in versions in comparing Linux versions and Windows versions of
Java are the 6 ( Linux 1.*6*.0_21 jre-*6*u21-windows-i586-s.exe ) and the 20
whatever ( Linux 1.6.0_*21* jre-6u*21*-windows-i586-s.exe ). So, Linux version
1.6.0_21 and windows jre-6u21-windows-i586-s.exe are the same version for their
respective platforms.

Hi :)
Perhaps an intermittent problem like the OpenOffice.org servers?

I would definitely try the normal java but a version around 2.6.0_21 rather than
anything newer. The new ones seem to break LibreOffice somehow but are better
for web-browsers apparently. Luckily it's very easy to have both and it's easy
to select which one LibreOffice uses. I think the web-browsers tend to
automatically choose the newest version so, hopefully, it should all work out.

I'm getting a 73KB/s download. :-(

For a 73Kb download i would try
1. Torrenting? Sometimes that seems a bit faster if it's available
2. Give up. Perhaps try again in a few hours/days.

[libreoffice-users] Windows - Support Info - why does it show ALL languages?

Ok, this is really nuts...

Before I go open up a bug about this, can anyone tell me why, if I

Add/Remove Programs Support Info dialog, does it insist on showing it
with ALL languages, thus causing the support info window to be even
wider than my 24" 1920x1080 is capable of displaying in its entirety?

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Fedora 14 and Libreoffice

2011-08-31 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
1. Someone using Fedora was getting an error that stopped LibreOffice from
opening. It was grumbling about Report Builder so someone suggested he/she
just
avoid installing the report builder. Errr, i don't know about the rest and
there is not a problem in Ubuntu so don't worry about it. Ubuntu prefers Deb
rather than Rpm. You don't need to use the alien format so don't ;)

2. Some people prefer the version that has been tweaked especially for their
favourite distro whether that is Ubuntu, Fedora, Mageia or whatever. Others
prefer the latest new toys. If you have trouble with one way then try the
other
;) You don't seem to have any trouble with either route so you have a free
choice.

3. A lot of people don't like the 11.04 and have done things such as staying
with the LTS or the 10.10 or moving to Mint or trying something completely
different or just happy to wait for the 11.10 which might be 'better' since
Ubuntu's implementation of Unity might have settled down a bit. Other people
love 11.04 and can't see what the fuss is about. I'm mostly staying with
Ubuntu
10.04 LTS although have got a few on 10.10 for the extra newer wireless
drivers. 11.04 didn't work well for me either [shrugs], just like the 8.10
didn't but the 9.04 did.

--- one ---

I did not see the other message[s] in the thread, so the question for me is:
"Why do you need to install LO without Oracle's Report Builder"? Is there some
install issue with that extension?

Also, since it is locked, how do you uninstall it with the Extension Manager?

Can you un-archive the download files from LO's web site, then remove the
Report
Builder file from the install files there, and then install LO? Or, would you
get some install error when the "controlling" file looks for the Report Builder
install file and since it does not find it, the install is stopped?

I use Ubuntu, not Fedora, so I do not remember if you would use RPM install
files?

--- two ---

Then there is the ongoing question of why people keep telling other to use
Repository versions instead of downloading the install files from LibreOffice?
I use Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the repository version of LO is really old. So I
have to install the LO download, instead of using the repository. At least I
am
not forced to use Firefox 6.x that is the default 11.04's repository.

--- three ---

[off topic]
Why I have not upgraded so far.
I have not gone to 11.04 due to a "default" monitor resolution change from
10.04/10.10 to 11.04. My monitor the max resolution of my video card and 11.04
uses that for the default resolution install.
[end off topic]

In case of a Basic macro with a reference to a spreadsheet cell in any

would do in the GUI:

oCell.CellStyle =

It still doesn't recognize JRE 7 but JRE v6 update 27 is installed and it works
with that.

I would think that if an update was to be given subsequent to the relaese of

the update would include its recognition.

Maybe in a major release like v3.5 ?

Torrents ? No.

Fed the URL to WGET so it could be downloaded in the background. Took almost

Sorry, I forget to point that out, currently using Basic for a macro in
LibreOffice Calc 3.3.3 running under Ubuntu 11.04.

So I guess I should do like you say (oCol.CellStyle = "MyStyle"). But how do
I find out how to format MyStyle ? Currently, the value of oCol.CellStyle is
"Default" whether I change the style by hand or not or even after I set
oCol.CellStyle programmatically:

sVal = oCol.CellStyle 'sVal = "Default"
oCol.CellStyle = "MyStyle"
sVal = oCol.CellStyle 'sVal = "Default"

[libreoffice-users] Re: Setting format code in macro

2011-08-31 Thread Andreas Säger
If your code applies to a certain type of spreadsheet:
Create a new template with predefined names, database ranges, styles and
your macros.
Let the code work conveniently with the predefined items. This will save you
hundreds of lines of Basic. Every new document derived from that template
will inherit all the predefined items and the code.
When you modify some style, the changes apply instantly to all the styled
cells and you don't have to change a single line of code.

If you try to develop generic code that applies to different types of
spreadsheet you should dive deeply into the API documentation and install an
object inspector. I recommend the MRI extension.

I use to auto-format spreadsheets by means of conditional formatting and/or
function STYLE. I never need any macros for this.

No difference between update 21 and update 26 of JRE v6.

No, this is a LO problem as other software dependent upon JRE works with JRE v7.

My guess is that something about JRE 6 is hardcoded into LO.

It is not spell checking when it is not working :)
Yes, the dialog opens up (press F7 or select from the tools menu), asks if
continue spell checking from the top, then says spell check complete,
ignoring all the (misspelled) words.
No error messages.
In the Language Settings, western laguages - Default English (USA).
In Writing aids, however, Available language modules was empty.
Found that this was reported as a bug 37195:

Replaced file configmgr.ini in the user profile directories (...\Application

Spell checker working now. Seems ok otherwise so far.

You should specify the desired number format

I found that after changing the number of decimal by hand, the NumberFormat

[libreoffice-users] Search and replace

2011-08-31 Thread Cecilieaux
New here. I'm looking for a way to search and replace "carriage returns."
For example, if there are 3 hard returns in a row between every paragraph
and I want to change it to 2, or viceversa.

I downloaded an extension called AltSearch, which is a lot better than the
native Writer search, but it's not a sure thing. Sometimes it works,
sometimes it doesn't.

Any recommendations?

I'm using 3.3.0 in Windows and the latest available in Ubuntu Linux (3.x).

To view the carriage returns use VIEW >> NON PRINTING CHARACTERS to
toggle them on or off, default is off.

You can have LO automatically space the paragraphs using FORMAT >>
PARAGRAPHS >> Indents and Spacing Tab to set the paragraph settings.
This is easier than hitting return x times.

In one sense, you cannot: every return *defines* the end of a
paragraph, so if you have three consecutive returns you have two
additional, empty paragraphs, in fact. And empty paragraphs are
generally a bad idea: instead, set paragraph spacing to establish
what you need.

Any recommendations?

Use Find & Replace to search for ^$ (an empty paragraph) and replace
it by something that won't already occur in your document - perhaps
##. (You need "Regular expressions" to be ticked.) This appears to
catch only alternate consecutive empty paragraphs, which is ideal in
your case. Then search for ## and replace it with nothing.

But better still, simply replace ^$ with nothing - to remove all
empty paragraphs - and then set spacing before or after paragraphs to
achieve the layout you need.

I trust this helps.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: 3.4.3 released. Stable and functionality combined

2011-08-31 Thread Don Myers

Hi Soumalya Ray and all,

I've been using Ubuntu for about 2 1/2 years, and have been through
versions 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, 10.10, and now 11.04. In my early days
with Ubuntu, the only way to get major upgrades to Open Office, Firefox,
etc., between versions, was to download them and install them directly.
Yes, I know everything is supposed to come from the Ubuntu repository,
and for the most part I do that. But not with previously Open Office
upgrades, and now with LibreOffice. I've seen posts here saying that the
repository versions are better. They are fancier, and tailored to the
distribution. But from time to time I've had functionality issues. I've
never had any issues with the downloads from Open Office and now
LibreOffice. Therefore I follow instructions I found several years ago
on the Internet to upgrade Open Office, and that I've modified for
LibreOffice. You need to tweak these instructions for each new release
of LibreOffice with respect to the the version number and also the menu
information. These instructions have worked perfectly for me many times
on many computers, all running some version of Ubuntu. But you will be
leaving the Ubuntu versions.

Here are the directions for LibreOffice 3.4.3 32 bit for Ubuntu, and I
would assume other Debian varities:

Download the Debian version from The Document Foundation
(LibO_3.4.3_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz)
If it was not downloaded to the desktop, move it from the download
location to the desktop.

Right click on the file and extract this file to the desktop. This will
give you a file called LibO_3.4.3rc2_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US/DEBS/

Open a terminal, and enter the following commands:
sudo apt-get remove libreoffice*.*

sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/LibO_3.4.3rc2_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US/DEBS/*.deb

sudo dpkg -i

CAUTION: I have never run multiple versions on the same computer. These
instructions will remove any and all versions presently installed and
install 3.4.3 only. In all instances, all of my default settings, such
as Java version, have remained in tact.

If you are using Unity, you will need to drag the new icons for the new
version to the launcher bar.

Hi :)
Just a quick note for everyone else who has spent ages balancing the

advantages

of the 3.3.x line with the 3.4.x branch. The 3.4.3 should give the

advantages

of both. It is only just released so it's worth looking in the release

notes.

It's probably best to install alongside whichever release you are

currently

using just in case there are a few teething troubles in the first few

days.

This is the release i have been waiting for :)
Good luck and good work all :)
Regards from
Tom :)

Does it recognize JRE v7.0 ?

[libreoffice-users] Re: Linking between two separate spreadsheets result in Err:509.

2011-08-31 Thread fruitjam
Converting the data into database is not an option that users in my
workplace are keen to explore. Spreadsheets are quick, less time-consuming
when it comes to presenting reports on the fly for most.

I had the notion that LibreOffice supports MS Office 2010 spreadsheet links.
But I was taken aback when it was pointed out that references to external
workbooks created using MS Office 2010 do not even show up when opened in
LibreOffice Calc. Can you help me explain as to why that can possibly
happen?

For example, a cell containing a ROUND function with reference to a cell in
another workbook shows up as only ROUND(,2) when the spreadsheet is opened
in LibreOffice Calc.

Yours respectfully,
Fruitjam

What OS are you using? You might need to uninstall an earlier version,
depending on the OS. Some Linux use 3.3.x and others 3.4.x.

Confirmed, the spellchecking fails on upgrade (Windows XP machine at work)

As per the OP the problem is listed here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37195
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37195

The configmgr.ini workaround fixes the issue however it's disturbing the
issue is still present.
