[libreoffice-users] Attention: LibreOffice Online Template Support people

2012-03-29 Thread Michael
Hello LibreOffice Online Template Support people,

I am writing this to let you know I am unhappy with the process of
submitting an online template.

If I am understanding the whole point of the
templates.libreoffice.org/template-center correctly, it should be a place
where people can EASILY share and upload their own LibreOffice templates
like budgets, resume designs, and ideas I haven’t even thought of yet, to
share with rest of LibreOffice community.

This is an excellent way for people who don’t have money to donate, don’t
know how to program, but they have one great template that they want share
with other LibreOffice users and can feel they are contributing or giving
back to the project.

Here’s my problem, the process of submitting a template is so difficult and
so involved and has so many steps, that for a typical home user, uploading a
template is almost impossible.

I’m not saying having all those steps and options aren’t useful, to some;
They may be, but I am suggesting that you should consider adding a template
express button for people who just want to put in the minimal amount of
information on one page and submit a template for review.

Do you think the average user knows the difference between a GPL – GNU,
GPL-v3-GNU, BSD, and Other OSI Approved license? And just before that you
have “Please examine carefully” Really? Our average users head is spinning
at this point from all the other questions and pages, and the come upon this
question that is a required field that I should “examine carefully” .

Maybe you could place a message on the template express button – the
template will default to public domain. All new projects will start with
version 1.0 – release summary will be the same as project summary. If there
are macros, more questions may have to be asked, but for a simple template
with no macros, an express button to simplify the process would help out.

Please consider simplifying the LibreOffice online template submitting a
template process.

Thank you,
Michael

[libreoffice-users] libreoffice 3.5.1 sdk problem under windows xp

2012-03-29 Thread Lars Callenbach
Hello,

I have downloaded the latest sdk for 3.5.1. SetSDKenvironment.bat shows a
required path for URE as information at the end but URE can not be set in the
script. Including URE/misc in the PATH environment solves problems with
unknown DLLs but the cpp examples do not compile (all works fine under 3.4).

Help appreciated.

Regards,
  Lars

P.S.: is the development mailing list the right mailing list for this topic?

Hi, I'm new here, and I'm driven here by desperation. I'm trying to build

Re: [libreoffice-users] Can't register for the Nabble interface, CAPTCHA not working?

2012-03-29 Thread Stephan Petersen

Hi Tom,

Sometimes the captcha's are a bit wonky. A blatant x turns out to
have been a t or something. Sometimes it's not clear that there are
sometimes 2 words if the second word is Ok or something.

I tried dozens of images, no luck.

Usually you
can refresh the Captcha so that you can find a less ambiguous one
(with any luck) or try to play it on the speakers and scare your
colleagues ;)

Huh, speakers :-) ? I have Captchas like 96HT3 or D3G2M, I also
don't see an option to have them read out...

Good to see that Drew has dived in and fixed it already :) Good luck
and regards from Tom :)

Thanks, let's see what Drew can do.

All the best,

Stephan

[libreoffice-users] strange scrollbar behaviour

2012-03-29 Thread Guy Voets
Hello,

This is not really new, but I didn't take the time till now to report it.
When I click somewhere on the scrollbar in a Writer document, the part of
the text will jump up or down by about one window. So far so good.
When I click in the last centimeter of the scrollbar, however, just above
teh 3 icons (e.g. 'search further below' or '.. up', 'navigation'), the
text will on the contrary go up line by line.
Is this normal behaviour? Why?

Thanks for your comments.
This is LO 3.5.1 (NL version) on an iMac with Lion 10.7.3
I haven't looked for bug reports yet.

Did that.
but also ask on the Bsd lists  forums as they might be able to help faster.
Already there as of 2 days ago. No one really knows as I have had no bites.
I think a lot of our devs are not really familiar with Bsd and probably are
not used to being polite to people either.
I'm used to linux lists, I know what they're like ;)
A google-search found these threads but nothing wonderfully useful.
Me either. My results lists are exceedingly short... :(
Still another bunch of places to ask ...

It may come to that...

If you could give us a link to the answer when you get it that would be great
but if you don't have time don't worry.

Errr, yes, it would appear so.

Have you tried :

That should give your system a good clean out (including the LO you just

Thanks for your hint. When I try to install the mysql connector now I get

not installed and - according to aptitude - only available at level 3.3.
I don't want to fall back to that level though. So, it looks as if I will

I have tried a few times with the same result. Is there anything else I

Which connector is that ? Surely, you are talking about the one supplied
by Mint here ? That would be logical, because the distrib supplied one
would probably only work with the distrib specific version of LO.

For what its worth, I tested on Bodhi Linux, with DEBS from the LO
official download :

- the Bodhi supplied OOo mysql connector - failed to install
- the Bodhi supplied LO 3.3.2 mysql connector - failed to install
- the Oracle AOOo mysql connector - failed to install
- and the 32bit connector which I made available on the LO extensions
site - failed to install

Each time I tried to install the extensions other than the Bodhi
supplied ones, I got an error message about failing to load component
blahblah

I noticed that my home built connector was much smaller than the Oracle
one and indeed, seemed to be missing at least 2 libraries. I am
currently trying to build a new connector which should include those
libraries (with a bit of luck)

2012-03-29 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I have forwarded this to the Users List just in case anyone there knows
anything about Supernova which seem to be the main problem.

The problem I am having, and it is a pretty serious one, is that
Supernova is not able to read the menu bar or the pull-down menus at
this point.  I am not positive whether the problem lies with Libre
Office or with the Java access bridge version 2.06.

Have you been able to check that java is active in Libre Office?

Tools - Options - Java

Which version does it say is being used by Libre Office?  Also which version of
Libre Office are you using on your Win 7 system?

Regards from
Tom :)

Hi everyone.

I’ve been using the older Open Office program for quite some time on my XP box
using the older Java access bridge.  Now that I’ve got a windows 7 system I had
to get the newer Java access bridge and I decided to start using Libre Office
since it is still being developed.

I had a devil of a time getting the new Java access bridge installed, trying to
make sure all the files were copied to all the right places but I am pretty
sure I managed it.  Now I am to the point of actually getting Libre Office to
work with Supernova version 12 from Dolphin.  I mainly use the writer so that
is what I will talk about here.  The document portion of the application is
quite accessible, I am able to move around and read and write and select text
using Supernova, in fact it is more responsive than the old Open Office.  The
problem I am having, and it is a pretty serious one, is that Supernova is not
able to read the menu bar or the pull-down menus at this point.  I am not
positive whether the problem lies with Libre Office or with the Java access
bridge version 2.06.

I had a similar problem with Open Office and I believe there was a choice I had
to change in the view section of options, I cannot remember precisely what.  I
have looked through the view section in Libre Office and have not found
anything that appears to change how the menus are displayed.

Sorry to make this so lengthy, if anyone has any suggestions for me to try I
would love to hear them, as I said I really like the way the program works in
most ways, it is much more responsive than it used to be.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

If you have the LO/OOo quickstarter installed in Windows, it will stop
the installation cold. To install make sure the quickstarter is closed;
either right click on it and click close or by use Task Manager and
closing soffice.exe. The install should work after this is done.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Attention: LibreOffice Online Template Support people

 I’m not saying having all those steps and options aren’t useful, to some;
They may be, but I am suggesting that you should consider adding a template
express button for people who just want to put in the minimal amount of
information on one page and submit a template for review.

I believe people are more than happy to accept usability enhancements
for services such as for the template submission.
I think the source of discontent is a wrong URL at the page
http://templates.libreoffice.org/template-center
When you click on Submit your Template, you go to the URL
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/createObject?type_name=PSCProject
which is actually the URL for Extensions, not for templates.

As Cour says, it's better to discuss these by subscribing to
  website+subscr...@global.libreoffice.org
(need to send a blank e-mail to that address and then follow the instructions).
