Hi :)
It's not as straight-forwards as that.

In 99% (probably a lot more) of times you have the auto-backup feature on you
get no problems.  I have passed the idea on to the Docs Team though.

It may be an issue in the User profile.

I do not know which Os you ae using, but I would look for the user
profile and rename it. Then try printing.

When you uninstall LO, you do not remove the user profile.

[libreoffice-users] command line printing changes registry

2013-04-25 Thread Walther Koehler
Dear LO-friends,

soffice -p test.odt

prints fine, but changes in

 registrymodifications.xcu
  .. SetupFactory
.. TextDocument
the horizontal window size (in my case from 1016 to 697)

Thereafter, all other odt-files will open in a running instnce with a reduced
sized window. Nasty, when opening a lot of files on a busy desk and printing
in parallel by use of soffice.

tested versions LO 3.4.51., 3.5.5.3, different printers, different configs
on Debian/KDE

Why does command line printing change window size in registrymodifications.xcu

I couldnt find a hint in this forum and in older lo/oo threats/bug reports.

Can anybody comment?

Yours, Walther

Re: [libreoffice-users] libre office won't print!

2013-04-25 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Uninstall-reinstall doesn't get back to factory defaults.  It just picks up
all the same settingsconfigurations you had before.

Probably it's just 1 Extension misbehaving but before starting to pin down
which one it might be worth really getting back to factory defaults by
renaming your User Profile.  Renaming the User Profile is usually the easiest,
quickest and best way of solving a weird problem that 'should not' happen
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/UserProfile

There are still programs that attempt to wipe out everything useful when
they uninstall in order to make a fresh new install really set back to
basics.  However it seems that all programs leave traces of their
install in the registry and other troublesome places.  The uninstall-reinstall
route to factory defaults is unworkable for programs that upgrade often.

Tom :)

If you can't find your issue--please open a bug report against UI. LO Draw

provide full details about OS and LibreOffice version and the file formats
your are working in. Provide exact steps to reproduce using Draw and

Here is a more complete FDO Bugzilla query to look at existing issues, as
you can see handling of pictures and drawings (previews and OLE objects

Hi Muriel,

I have a Base data base, and different form letters and labels in
Writer. They work very well. It sounds to me like Writer is not

have the fields in your for form, and all should work well!

I'm using LibreOffice 4.0.2.2 (Build ID:
4c82dcdd6efcd48b1d8bba66bfe198__9deee49c3) on Debian Sid Linux.

The Full Screen toolbar won't close, even though I can remove the
Full Screen button from it.

Google found me ways to do it in LibreOffice 3, but those tricks
don't seem to work in 4.

I can toggle between showing the toolbar and concealing it with the
command «Ctrl+Shift+J» on Ubuntu 12.04 ; have you tried it on your
box ?...

I can toggle between full screen and non-full screen using that
command. What I want to do is get rid of the Full Screen Toolbar when
I'm in Full Screen mode. I know how to use the Escape key to get out
of full screen mode, so I don't need to waste the screen space on the
toolbar.

When I use «Ctrl+Shift+J» I go to full screen without the tool bars. LO
3.6. Is this what you are meaning. «Ctrl+Shift+J» again and I go back to
where I was, a window with toolbars.
Steve

What I mean is a full screen view WITHOUT THE FULLSCREEN TOOLBAR (the
silly little thing that contains only a button to exit full screen
mode). That toolbar always appears in full screen mode and it's the ONLY
toolbar that appears in fullscreen mode.

In 3.6, I had it hidden, there are a number of Google search results
that explain what to change in 3.6's registrymodifications.xcu file to
make it disappear. v4 doesn't seem to have that file anymore, and
changes to the 3.6 version in .libreoffice/3 don't make a difference in 4.

So no solution to the above for LibreOffice 4? It can't do something
that WordPerfect has done for over 10 years, and MS Word can do? That
LO3.6 could do with a bit of configuration file editing?

set A2 =CHAR(127)

A4 contains TRUE

Surely A3 and A4 should be the same, since A1 contains the null string.

When I do this, I get FALSE in cell A4 — but I'm not sure what is
being done here. I'm not sure what A1 contains if nothing has been
entered; A2 is the delete control character; A3 is basically asking if
the empty cell is equal to the delete control character (obviously
not, hence FALSE); and A4 is asking if the delete control character is
equal to nothing entered (obviously not, hence FALSE).
I have tried this again: I entered A4 as =A2=: I get TRUE, not
FALSE: you get FALSE. I am on 3.6.5.2 on Vista.

Did you mean for the formula in A4 to be »=A1=« ??? because that
should be TRUE.

No, I mean =A2=.

The help function for the =CHAR(n) function says the value is from 1
to 255; using values above 255 produces Err:502. The null value would
be =CHAR(0), and even though this does not produce an error message,
Calc attempts to interpret it as something — which isn't null.

If I've misunderstood, please clarify.

It appears that LO is behaving differently on our two systems.

I am on OpenSuse LO 3.6 and I get True for =A2= when A@ is CHAR(127)
or CHAR(0). In fact any non-printing CHAR. This is probably correct
because is the empty string not a null. Any character in A2 that is
not a string character probably results in an empty string.

[libreoffice-users] PDF to ODF conversion

Re: [libreoffice-users] PDF to ODF conversion

2013-04-25 Thread Girvin R. Herr

Gary,
There is a PDF converter built-in to LO. This used to be an extension,
but it is now bundled into LO. However, it imports a PDF file into a LO
Draw session. Each page of the PDF file becomes a Draw page, much like
a viewfoil page in Impress. Draw does allow additional elements to be
added to the result, but editing the existing objects in the PDF is not
always available. I guess it depends on how the PDF was created with
the Adobe tools. There have been long threads of postings on this group
regarding how to import a PDF into a Writer document. This is
problematic, especially for PDFs with many pages. If you are in Writer
and are trying to import a PDF directly, that cannot be accomplished at
this time. Your best shot is to import your PDF into Draw, save it as a
draw file and then import that Draw file into writer. Yes, it is labor
intensive, but more than nothing.

I have been somewhat successful at importing a PDF form which needs to
be filled out, into Draw, and using the text tool, filling out the form,
re-saving it as a PDF and returning it to the sender. I have even
scanned my signature and inserted that picture object into the form at
the blank signature location. I have not had any complaints from the
senders.

Hope this helps.
Girvin Herr
