Hi Girvin, I did also have the problem of horizontal lines not working. However, they do appear correctly now under LO 4.1.2.3. My system is Linux-Mint-15, 32 bit. But then - as I have mentioned before (and filed a bug report) - time-values don't appear correctly both in Base as such and of course in report builder as a consequence. Re: [libreoffice-users] macro to search and replace from a table?
Hi :) How about just changing fonts? Can you find or create a font? Perhaps take an existing one and substitute in odd characters here or there? Are you thinking of doing a massive 1st letter in the first word of a new chapter, as they do in ancient manuscripts? If so i think there is a fairly easy way to automate it in LibreOffice. The problem is how to I turn on my status bar? On the "View" menu, click "Status Bar" and the status bar should appear at the bottom of the window. You can do the same again if you want to hide it again later. Alternatively, if I've understood the original problem correctly, you might be able to sort out the page view without needing the status bar... On the "View" menu, click "Zoom", then "100%" or "Entire Page" (or whatever setting suits you). The icons on the status bar are a quick way of accessing those features, so it may still be useful to unhide it. Heinrich, Thanks for the heads-up on 4.1.2.3 lines working. I plan to try 4.x when it gets to 4.1.5+. I will try that Report Builder at that time. I am currently using Slackware 14.0 Linux, 3.2.29 32-bit SMP kernel, MySQL 5.5.29, mysql-connector-java-5.1.18, LO 3.6.7.2 and KDE 4.8.5. I am aware of the talk on this forum regarding the time values. I am using the MySQL Connector Java for my interface to my MySQL database, so I may not run into that problem, but I will look for it, since I do use times as well as dates. There is also a migration to mariadb in the future for me. Thanks again. Re: [libreoffice-users] Editing a document (Writer)
Hi :) Could be 1 of 2 different things (afaik = as far as i know) 1. You may have gone into "print preview" in which case you might notice a button on the top icon-bar (tool-bar) that has a tiny picture of a printer on it. There are 2 very similar buttons very close to each other. If one looks like it is stuck pressed in then click on it again to unclick it. If both buttons look the same (apart from one having a magnifying glass) then neither is pressed in. 2. You might have zoomed out that far. There are several ways to deal with that; a) Go up to the "View" menu and change the factor to something more reasonable. Try a few different ones b) On the grey(ish) status-bar at the bottom of the window that contains the document on the far right is a little slider with a blob in the middle(ish) (or rather probably far off to one side right now but it should be in the middle normally). Grab the blob with your mouse by pressing and holding the left mouse button in. Drag the blob left and right until you have zoomed just about right. Then let go of the mouse's left button c) Press and hold the Ctrl key and roll the mouse wheel backwards and forwards. Stop rolling when the document is readable and then release the Ctrl key. It's ok if you release things the other way around but just means the document scrolls up&down a bit. Errr, that's all i could think of! Someone else might write in with other ideas or explain the same ones in different ways! This type of support is more of a team game rather than just getting 1 persons opinion which might/might-not be right. It does take a bit of getting used to. Good luck and regards from Tom :) On Wednesday, 16 October 2013, 17:31, "botay...@telus.net" wrote: I am editing a text document and it is displaying it as three tiny pages instead of a single page or part thereof to edit. [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice 4 - Crashes handling frames...
Hello, I just upgraded from LibreOffice 3.4 (I know, a bit late, but I am conservative). LibreOffice 3.4 always was a reliable choice both for writing books and other documents. However, it also sometimes crashed But less often than MS... Since years I am editing a small 8 page magazine written in two or three columns and using pictures hooked up on the pages (not on the paragraphs). In LibreOffice 3.4 I had to take care of occasional crashes when handling the frames and pictures, but it worked. Now, in the latest release 4.1.? (downloaded yesterday), its getting a nightmare. No chance to finish the document. Permanent crashes. I only can tell that it has to do with the frames. Where can I download the latest 3.x version? I need to complete my work.
