I have seen some version update notes stating that LibreOffice has various new fonts being installed with these new versions. I know that there is a lot of interest to make sure LO has the best free fonts available to make viewing/editing MS Office documents with less and less font substitution issues. For those that LO does not have as part of their install, you can always find the best free substitute fonts, for Linux and Windows, from online sources. I have over 100,000 fonts in my font folders, most specialty fonts though. I found that there are a lot of great fonts out there that are so similar to paid fonts, that you will not have any document issues. You just have to look for them. In any event this is a parameter with which Pranzer might wish to play - if he currently has a 32-bit version installed he might wish to install a 64-bit version and *vice versa* I wish him the best of luck ! Re: [libreoffice-users] Where is Base?
Hi :) Ahh, i thought it wasn't possible to deselect any of the components in a Windows install. I still doubt that much space is saved so i don't see any particular advantage - except that it makes it more like MS Office bundles that each have different things missing. Hi :) A bundle of the mostly commonly used MS fonts are in a package called something like; *ttf-mscorefonts-installer* I think that is the specifically Ubuntu name, others in the Debian family might have a slightly different name. Correct. I added the ppa, did a refresh, and was offered the new versions in synaptic. (Irrelevant probably, but synaptic then refused to actually do the upgrade - but this has happened lately for various packages, not just LO. Using apt (or was it apt-get?) directly performed all the upgrades correctly.) Mike, I use the LO PPA to install all the upgrades to my 64-bit Linux Mint box (currently 17.1) , which means that they are installed automatically via the Update Manager - i e, I don't have to look for them in Synaptic or use «apt-get» in a terminal to install them. Very convenient, but as I recently mentioned on another thread, Base seems to be missing from the latest version (4.4.0.3) installed on this computer - in any event, when I click the Base icon in LibreOffice nothing at all happens, and when I enter «soffice --base» in a terminal, LibreOffice opens not to Base, but to Writer !... I'm not a frequent user of Base, but I can't recall encountering this problem with previous versions of LO on Mint. I note that all LO services, including Base, work just fine on my Windows 64-bit 8.1 box. Any suggestions as to what may be wrong and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated !... Henri PPA installs are fine, if you want to run the one that is currently on the PPA list. Personally, I have not changed over to the 4.4.0.x package. I usually wait for the .2 or .3 version before I switch. Because of an extended illness, I have not started testing 4.4.0.x on one of my systems. I do this before I install the new line onto my main/default system. It might be helpful to have someone to post the PPA script here so those who want to try it can get the correct install procedure. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Where is Base?
Hi :) On Ubuntu i have to install Base separately. I'm not sure what happened when i installed the official one from the LibreOffice website. Can't quite remember that far back tbh. When i use a package-manager to isntall the default one in the repos i can select all sorts of components and maybe Extensions and stuff. I thought it was the same for all Linux, especially for 'Ubuntu clones'? (although i think it's been a lng time since Mint could be claimed to be that) I thought the Windows version had pretty much everything all in one package (and the the help files in a separate bundle)? Then the Linux, Bsd and Mac version allowed a bit more finesse? I still don't know where to get Base from as i was fairly convinced it was included in the main Windows install automatically.
