Just a suggestion with the Save button appearing not to dim after
saving. Do you have "Allow to save document even when the document
is not modified" selected under the LibreOffice > General Options?
This sometimes means that the save button does not dim as you can
still save again.

Aha: well done; I'd missed that! (Surely this *always* means that the
Save icon will not be greyed out?) I'm sure you are right that this
is the questioner's problem (and solution).

For the benefit of the questioner (who appears to be using Windows),
this option is at Tools | Options... | LibreOffice | General |
Document status | Allow to save document even when the document is
not modified.

Right. You've still not answered most of the questions - including

As you suggested, I uninstalled the 4.4.0.3 and then installed the 4.3.6.2.
The Styles and Formatting window appears now.
But the SAVE tool is still not dimmed after I saved anything.

The same thing happened after I uninstalled the 4.3.6.2 and then installed
the 4.3.5.2. That means, Styles and Formatting window appears, but the
SAVE tool is still not dimmed after I saved anything.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: LO Base Problem

2015-02-21 Thread Ian Whitfield

Thanks Alex

But I fear this is getting nowhere.

As per your suggestion I built a new ODB file and it showed the same
problem.

i have run the MySQLcheck program and it confirms the DB is OK.

Maybe it is a "funny" in Base itself??? And it may come right with the
next release??

In itself the problem does not make my DB unusable and I must press on
with it so I guess the best is to just put the RecordID number in by
hand and keep a paper record of the last used number.

Seems ridicules but I guess it's what we all call a "Workround".

I really do appreciate your help and assistance nonetheless.

With best wishes

Hi,
You have two choices:

1) Write an add-in package which is installable via the extension
manager. These functoons can have their own localized help pages and
function names. They appear in the function wizard just like a built-in
function. You can not write add-ins Basic code.

2) Quick and drity Basic functions without any integration can be stored
in the "Standard" library of the global macro name space ("My Macros").
This library is loaded automatically so the functions can be found at
any time.
2a) Since it is possible to call macro code from different languages,
you can write or re-use functions written in Java, Python or JavaScript
and write a Basic wrapper. The spreadsheet calls the Basic function
which itself calls the other script.

Hi,

how can I make a self-written function (i. e. a macro) available for all

create or load and modify?

Ideally, this should work with multiple users in that I'd like to deploy

So, on the face of it, your data tables are consistent and error free
(with regard to their definitions).

The problem then, would appear to lie with your ODB file. Something,
some setting, or control, is unhappy with the change in the RecordID
field and its new definition.

Ideally, you would compare the contents of the before and after ODB
files, e.g. using a diff command on the unzipped files present in the
ODBs. That would point to where things have changed, and possibly how
you might correct the problem.

Hi :)
If the document's title-bar is dimming, indicating that the styles
menu-pop-up is off-screen then trying to either;
* set the screen display to a much higher resolution temporarily so that
you can drag the errant pop-up back into the normally visible area - or -
* rename your "User Profile" to "get back to factory defaults"
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

I'm not sure how to force an off-screen window or pop-up to come back onto
the screen tbh. Those are just things that i would try.

Only a limited range of functions is available in Writer tables and,
as far as I know, this does not include IF.

What I'm trying to achieve (in cell B1) is to print the value of
cell A1 up to a maximum of 8. I thought the formula in cell B1 [
=IF(>8;8;) ]would to that:

 - If the value in cell A1 is larger than 8, print the number 8.
 - Otherwise, print the content of cell A1.

You can achieve the effect you require using
=MIN|8

I trust this helps.

[libreoffice-users] Trouble using the IF statement in a Writer table

2015-02-21 Thread Patrick Dijkgraaf
Hi all,

I'm trying to use the IF statement in a Writer table, but it doesn't
behave the way I expect.
Probably I am doing something wrong. Can any of you help me?

Example document: http://kwek.duckstad.net/IFstatement.odt

What I'm trying to achieve (in cell B1) is to print the value of cell A1
up to a maximum of 8. I thought the formula in cell B1 woud to that:
   - If the value in cell A1 is larger than 8, print the number 8.
   - Otherwise, print the content of cell A1.

But strangely enough, It always prints the content of cell A1,
regardless of the value. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!
