Hm, that's interesting. However I couldn't figure out how to get
properties of the object under the cursor. I'm feel there's a
misunderstanding. E.g. for a test I placed cursor to a simple text,
called MRI, and copied all the properties. Next I placed cursor to the
Table Of Contents, and did the same action. In the end I used diff
utility between both contents, and found that for the different
objects there's the same properties list :/

What do I do wrong?

As I asked Joe, what type of watermark do you want? Do you know how to add a
graphic to the gallery? ( Assuming your watermark is a graphic)
You begin with Format Page. Click the Area tab . Select type of watermark
from the Fill drop down list. Select the Transparency tab. Set the amount of
transparency. Close the dialog.
The Fill drop down list is likely to be a problem because of the underlying
choices that are possible.  Custom colors can be created and used. Gradients
can be created and used. Hash patterns likewise. Graphics can be added to the
gallery and then used. ( This is done differently from how it use to be done. )

[libreoffice-users] UNO: iterate through headings?

2015-08-09 Thread Hi-Angel
In python I have an opened document, and I need to change styles of
some «Heading 1»'s. (actually I need to do the thing like here
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/53521/how-to-exclude-some-chapters-from-automatic-numbering-of-headings/
, but in script)

I couldn't figure out, what is a function or property of an opened
with «loadComponentFromURL» document to iterate over these? I guess
that would be something like «getAllParagraphs», or
«getParagraphsByStyle»… Either way, I couldn't find anything relevant.

DID you know if you make the watermark light enough you can print it
out, but you cannot use a copy machine or printer scanner to copy the
page and have the watermark show up in the copy of the page?

I did that several years ago, using a graphic editor to do the work on
the watermark image. Works great for detecting copied documents vs.
original printed ones.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Watermarks

2015-08-09 Thread Joe Conner

Thank all of you for your help. I did solve my problem with help from users.
The pathway is **a *Format - Page - Area**- Then change the Fill Bar to
Bitmap* - this opens a whole new panel of selections, which includes an
*Import Graphic* bar. Clicking it allowed for navigation to the .jepg I
needed for the watermark. I did not need to change the transparency, I
just wanted the background image (it was a form with fill-in lines but
was not a .pdf or word processor document.)

This pathway is not at all intuitive. Perhaps someone who knows how to
modify the help files (mine are downloaded and installed) to reflect
this pathway.

Better yet, why not have *WATERMARK* as one of the choices of the
*Insert* drop down menu. I think that would make it intuitive.

In the GUI you simply modify the paragraph style in order to change the
appearance of all the paragraphs where the stye applies.
Without MRI you should not even try to write any macros.

[Tutorial] Introduction into object inspection with MRI

It leads you to the StyleFamilies of your documents and the built-in
ParagraphStyles which are accessible by their English names. On the fly
it records macros in 4 langauges.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: UNO: iterate through headings?

2015-08-09 Thread Hi-Angel
Okay, to point what is confuses me with MRI — I tried to copy
properties list when cursor is in the table of contents and somewhere
in text. The *diff* utility then shows no difference.

But supposing that there is indeed no difference, I still couldn't see
how that could easily give me an idea for how to iterate through
headings. I do understand that the only thing I need is just change
style of particular paragraphs, and here I'm stuck.
