Have you tried *Tools - Options - Load/Save - HTML Compatibility

Thank you, Piet.

So do I need to install LO 3.6.7.2 in order to correct this? Or, should I
implement the following twelve steps?

1) use my eMail client to copy these frequent reports to my computer from Gmail

2) run a script or program to:

2.1) open that file

2.2) strip out everything before

2.3) unpack the Quoted-Printable encoding (preserving the character set
specification somehow)

2.4) save the file

3) switch to Calc

3.1) insert a temporary sheet from the file

3.2) select all data from that sheet

3.3) switch to the sheet where the data belongs

3.4) paste in the appropriate location

3.5) delete the temporary sheet

I think all those steps are doable. Per your suggestions, step 3.1 could be "open the HTML file in
LO," step 3.3 would be "switch to the main document," and step 3.5 would be "close
the source (temporary) spreadsheet without saving it. As I see it step 2.3 is the most complex.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Calc - Sorting - Alphabetically

2016-02-08 Thread Tim Lloyd

Charles,

What kind of data is in that column? I have a list of names in one
column of a sheet. I never bothered to format this to text. When I
sorted, it automatically arranged the column in alphabetic order.

Cheers

[libreoffice-users] Re: Avery 8167 label printing

Labels print fine on Avery 8160.

No adjustments of any kind to the template was made.

LO 4.4.7.2

Downloaded and tried 5.0.4. Believe it or not, things are even worse.

Three quarters of the text on each label is now bold. Nothing was bold
in the document I created in 4.4.7.2.

Now, maybe there's a way to select all the text in all the labels at one
time to change everything to bold or bold off, but I can't find it. So
at the moment, I'm changing the attributes one label at a time. CMD-A,
CMD-B, spinning beach ball. Repeat next label. Same result. Each and
every time.

Exporting as PDF via LO has the same result, labels are off vertically.
Saving as a PDF from Apple's print dialogue, same result, labels are
off vertically.

I started with LO 3.x.x., labels didn't work then either. I know not
what the problem is with the coding, but by now all the kinks should
have been worked out. The labels certainly haven't changed.

I just tried it in 5.0.4 Windows 7. Same results.

This is why I no longer recommend LO to anyone, and use it only minimally.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Calc - Sorting - Alphabetically

2016-02-08 Thread Dave Liesse
If you choose an ascending sort then it will sort A to Z; descending
will sort Z to A. I believe that as long as there is one non-numeric
cell then it will sort based on characters rather than values, but
someone else should confirm that.

Using Data | Sort...! You don't need to make this selection anywhere:
if your data is text, the sort will be alphabetic; if the data is
numbers, the sort will be numeric. The only exceptions to this are if
you have set other choices at "Custom sort order" or
"Language/Options" on the Options tab of the Sort dialogue.

I trust this helps.
