My LO installation is from the main LO website and I used the same LO
installation file on both machines.

I am convinced that there is a problem on my machine and I am trying to
locate that problem.

Both machines run the same LO version. Any ideas what the machine's

Since you have contact with the originator of the document, and he/she sent
you a modified document, why don't you ask them to send you the document in
.doc format? It should open flawlessly.

she is asking how LO 13 differs from the prior versions, what LO 13 refers
to, so yes, she believes there is LO 13. she doesn't say where she got that
impression.

for this reason, they send me all documents in docx format.

[libreoffice-users] Base - Standard Filter cannot search for ?

2016-04-05 Thread alan somers
I'm using LOBase 5.0.5.2 to browse an ODBC database. One string column
contains "?" (a single question mark) for many of its entries. If I click
on a ? cell and click AutoFilter, everything works fine. But if I click
Standard Filter and set the criteria to match = "?", I get no
results. Weirdly, if my criteria is LIKE "?", then every row
is returned. It's as if LOBase is treating ? as a wildcard. However, I
can't figure out how to escape it in the query form.

How can I search for a field that contains a single "?" ? Any help would
be appreciated.

-Alan

Yes, this is a good suggestion!

Using the file you (nasrin) sent me as an example:

original docx 221KB
saved as doc (in Office 2010) 874KB
doc+zip 193KB

Your best option is to ask your friend to save as doc in MS Office and then
zip. This way both can open and edit the file. You just need to add some
extra steps: extract the file, edit and then compress again.

Saving as ODT in MS Office 2010 (which has a similar size to docx) is
unfortunately not an option in this case: MS Office will ruin the file if
you modify it in LibreOffice.

Hope this helps.

Do you need to work with the document or just read it? Either way,
depending on the need, there's a PDF option and you're problems maybe
solved.

hi pedro.
thanks so much for your testing.
can you please open it with open office, save it as doc and see the
result when openning in libreoffice?
for me it opens in libreoffice 5.0.5 and also 5.1.0 without any crash!
do you think i should report a bug for it?
when the person removed the table in the last page and sent it for me,
i could open it without any problem.
i think its a bug with some kind of tables in libreoffice!
thanks and god bless you all.
