Re: [libreoffice-users] Calc - Numeric format [H]:MM

2019-02-14 Thread Alex Kempshall

Hi Johnny

The problem started in 6.2.0.

The problem has been fixed in 6.3.0.0.alpha0+

Don't know in which version between 6.2.0 and 6.3.0 the problem was
actually fixed.

That doesn't happen to me.
1. What is displayed if you use the format [H]:MM:SS.00?
2. What is displayed if you change the format to

In my case the following is displayed:
1. 16:48:00.00
2. 0.7000

Re: [libreoffice-users] Calc - Numeric format [H]:MM

2019-02-14 Thread Alex Kempshall

I think it's a bug!

Just tried it on my system [H]:MM

I started with 16:46 in the cell which was OK

I changed the cell contents to 16:47 which was OK

I changed the cell contents to 16:48  the cell contents stayed at 16:47
but the contents of the Input Line was correct at 16:48

I changed the cell contents to 16:49 the cell contents changed to 16:48
but the contents of the Input Line was correct at 16:49

Weird.

Using HH:MM seems to be OK.

Have you checked bugzilla?

Alex

The problem occurs ONLY with Libreoffice, but not with any other

different versions: older version 4..somenthing, intermediate
verions 5.2.. and the newest 6.0.5.2.
Once the problem pops up, I have to try all sort of things like
deliberately saving all open files, repeating the copy+paste procedure
several times among different softwares, or, as Mr. Virgil said,
close down LibreOffice. Usually Write alone WILL NOT be sufficient.
AND .. it does not make any difference whether I use keyboard
commands or the mouse.

By now, the situation has developed into a nightmare!
There is nothing wrong with my operation -> it works just fine with
other software.

The problem starts mostly when I use memoQ (a CAT tool):
Copy a section in memoQ -> move to Writer -> paste that section.
It may work ONCE - but then never again.
The exact same procedure, except for copying into a text editor or
even MS-Word does NOT cause any problems.

What is this with LibreOffice?
Is there really nothing that can be done?
(I do NOT want to use Word and by now I have mostly forgotten how to
use it anyway. That would make work very uncomfortable.)

Thank you.

Grabbing at straws here, does it make any difference if, when you
paste into Writer, you paste special>unformatted text.

No, unfortunately it does not.

Hi Max

What version of LibreOffice are you using?

Have you checked your settings are correct?

When I change the settings I've found that the "Test Settings" can fail.

Closing down LibreOffice completely and restarting always seems to fix

[libreoffice-users] LO:MailMerge supplying OutServerPassword via macro

2018-04-24 Thread Alex Kempshall
I've got some code that uses MailMerge to email documents. It works.
However, the password is stored in registrymodifications.xcu in clear text.

Trying to move forward

I cleared the password from registrymodifications.xcu by

    Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Writer -> Mail Merge E-mail ->
Server Authentication

and deleting the contents of the password field.

The line in registrymodifications

changed from

oor:name="MailPassword" oor:op="fuse">XXX
YYY

to

oor:name="MailPassword" oor:op="fuse">

I then changed my macro to include the MailMerge property
OutServerPassword. As in the code snippet below

    oMailMerge = CreateUnoService("com.sun.star.text.MailMerge")
    oMailMerge.DocumentURL =  ConvertToUrl(strSelectedTemplate)
    oMailMerge.DataSourceName =  "MySQLDataBase"
    oMailMerge.CommandType = 0        'Command

    oMailMerge.Command = "MySQLDataBase.tbl_temporary"
    oMailMerge.OutputType = com.sun.star.text.MailMergeType.MAIL
    oMailMerge.Subject = strTitle
    oMailMerge.AddressFromColumn = "Email_Address"
    oMailMerge.OutServerPassword="XXX YYY"

    oMailMerge.SendAsHTML = True

    oMailMerge.execute(Array())

When I run the script it fails with the following error message box

BASIC runtime error.
An exception occurred
Type: com.sun.star.uno.Exception
Message: Mail merge failed. Sorry, no further information available..

What am I doing wrong?

Has anyone else got this working?

Maybe use this process.

1. Insert the field date (fixed) in the format required
2. Select the inserted field date (fixed)
3. Cut the selected data
4. Paste (unformatted)

if this is too cumbersome code something as a macro and link it to the
tool bar.

This is the way that LO has gone. It now splits the setup from the

to complete all of them, and pressing the wizard's button the
new Mail/Merge tool bar should become available to use.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Please confirm Calc bug - discontiguous selection of rows, right-click is very slow

2015-04-20 Thread Alex Kempshall

On Slackware 14.1

My timings are

4.4.2

15 discontiguous rows - instant response
500 discontiguous rows - about 5 seconds

4.3.6

15 discontiguous rows - about 15 secods
500 discontiguous rows - over 600 seconds and still waiting

Clearly one of the developers has done something which has dramatically
improved things in Linux world. Whether 5 seconds, in 4.4.2, for 500
discontiguous rows is acceptable, I'll let others be the judge. If not
raise a bug to draw out comments from the developers.

Graham? Can you confirm?

It really depends on how many rows you have selected.
And it does not happen with a selection of columns as you can see when
using my macro with the word Rows replaced with Columns.

With 500 selected rows there is a lag of several seconds.
With 5000 selected rows the CPU is used up for minutes.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Automating creation of PDF from Calc

2014-05-13 Thread Alex Kempshall
Hi Fernand and everyone else.

Thanks for the note. The reason for my initial posting was that I realised that
using the Dispatcher was not helpful and I wanted to use the API methods. It
wasn't until several days later with lots of googling that I fould that the API
method to export to a PDF was

oDocument=ThisComponent
oDocument.storeToURL(sURL, aMediaDescriptor)

plus the filter

calc_pdf_Export

and it wasn't until I fell over the link

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/API/Tutorials/PDF_export

that things became a lot clearer. Prior to this I was googling for a method
like export as PDF and as there isn't one that explicitly has this or a similar
name I couldn't find what I was looking for but suffering from information
overload with the hundreds of thousands hits I was getting.

I've now decided to follow the discussions in the Apache Open Office Community
Forum for "Macros and UNO API" as it seems to contain a wealth of information.
I've not found any information of any relevance on the LibreOffice sites
relating to the API. If there is any, can someone point me in the right
direction. A simple guide to the key areas of the API would be really useful.

OpenOffice has this page which can search their API -
http://www.openoffice.org/api/

So if I enter "export as pdf" in the "The Office API Reference" and push the
Search button I get 2 results which contains the information I was looking for.
Though I do think the Description for the page found
http://www.openoffice.org/api/docs/common/ref/com/sun/star/frame/XStorable.html
  could also include something like "You are here because you want to export as
PDF and here are some relevant examples.

Or am I being unhelpful and just complaining because I don't undestand how to
navigate the API documentation?

Hi Brian

I want to do it via a macro.

Out of the 85 sheets in the document I would want to create PDFs for 24 of
them. I would soon get bored or make mistakes if I generated each manually.

Really what I'm looking for is to see if anyone can point me in the direction
of the documentation for the API properties for exporting to PDFs.

Thanks

2014-02-23 Thread Alex Kempshall

Re: [libreoffice-users] Similar Problem?

2014-01-15 Thread Alex Kempshall
