at showing the community's interest in the TDF reviving LibreOffice Online.
If you agree, feel free to add your +1.

You don't need to install that package at all, see

"Just like the Liberation fonts are metrically-compatible with Times
New Roman (Liberation Serif), Arial (Liberation Sans), and Courier
(Liberation Mono), the Carlito and Caladea fonts (both now provided
with LO) are metrically-compatible with Calibri and Cambria
respectively. This means that if you use Carlito instead of Calibri,
your document will have the same layout as if you used Calibri." (via

[libreoffice-users] Howto fix missing icons from PPA installation

2017-10-25 Thread Daniel A. Rodriguez
In a completely Linux Mint 18.2 fresh install I added the
LibreOffice's PPA repository as always and did a un dist-upgrade.
After that, it was working but with no icons at all. Exactly as
described in
https://askubuntu.com/questions/942140/icons-missing-from-libreoffice-toolbars/969290#969290

When trying to select another theme from Toos > Options > View, the
program stops responding.

After tested several alternatives the solution was install the breeze icon theme

apt install libreoffice-style-breeze

Re: [libreoffice-users] FlatPak on Ubuntu 14.04??

2016-06-22 Thread Daniel Espinosa
Flatpak PPA is available for 16.04 as for

https://launchpad.net/~alexlarsson/+archive/ubuntu/flatpak

It is well supported in Debian, at least for my box using Debian 8 and my
upgrade to Testing.

May the question is if this PPA will provide support for 14.04. May ask
Alex.

[libreoffice-users] improving LibreWriter Referencing to make LOffice more accessible to students

2016-02-27 Thread Daniel O'Hare
One of the things that stops me from using LibreWriter 100% is that making
APA references into a school report is an awkward task compared to using
Microsoft Word. If this referencing could be made more user friendly
somehow then it would become a viable alternative for post-secondary
students who find themselves having to purchase an office suite just to
make proper reports.

I have been trying to promote libreoffice to my fellow students but, the
difficulty of creating references soured several of them on it.

I know it's an incredibly vague suggestion, but one I felt I should tell
someone.

Just another LibreOffice fan,
Daniel O'Hare

I think the popup opens because Ledio clicks on a link pointing to a

do is to write an email to that address proposing his will to create a

[libreoffice-users] Re: How to check rows for to replace a value for another in Calc?

2014-08-08 Thread Daniel R. Miguel

Hello again!

I wanted to update you guys. I created a new table manually with the fields:
EXTEMAILFULL NAME

I proceeded to fill them making sure no value was repeated. So now I
have a table that is capable of converting EXT to EMAIL or FULL NAME; or
EMAIL to FULL NAME with vlookup().

I also need to look up to the left side so, for example, if I want to
extract the email from a full name I can vlookup() the name and check
the adjacent cells. The problem is vlookup() only looks to the right
side of the first column so I've used vlookup(choose()) to be able to
look up the values to the left side. This feels like bad formula all
around and would like your opinion in which is a good way to do what I
want to do.

The exact formula is this:

|= VLOOKUP( VLOOKUP( D5,CHOOSE( {2,1}, ext_mail.$B$1:$B$100,
ext_mail.$E$1:$E$100), 2, 0), $A$3:$B$51, 2, 0)|

So it is a choose() nested in a vlookup() which is nested in another
vlookup(). Bad code all around.

Thanks for your time!

You will presumably need to copy this formula down a column. If so,

Another copuple of things to increase available space on drive C are:

   - Change the virtual memory location, if it's still on drive C move to D
   - A more complex one is to increase size of partition C

Motorola's phones have docks to connect any keyword and mouse, even an HDMI

With this kind if devices and a LibreOffice version for it you can have all

[libreoffice-users] LO crashing when adding a FF theme

2013-07-20 Thread Daniel
Thanks Brad for answering.yes I do copy the url from the FF window. In
older versions I used to do it without any problems.

You have to copy the url from the browser window into the text string
field before you click OK. It's not clear (to me) that you're doing
that.

Anyhow, it works here with LO 4.0.3.3 in Debian testing. I even tried
it with your chosen theme. LO froze whilst downloading the theme, but
I'd expect that to happen.

Tried to do that but nothing happens.
Each line has different long so I set a tab at 17cm (which is the right
margin), right type with hyphen filler but, as said, nothing happens. I'm

Yes, my bad.
What I was looking for is to rotate 90° counterclockwise rotation using
4.0. That option didn't seem to work but now I can say that is related to a
propietary format file. After being redone the table from scratch the
rotation works just fine.

Remenber that this list doesn't support attached files.

About the issue, try selecting Shapes > Merge from contextual menu. I've
just got a merged shape using LO 4.0.0 RC1.

And finally, use TDF binaries from libreoffice.org/download

Hi Dan, thanks for the quick response

I found the problem, my locale setting does not recognize the '.' as

[libreoffice-users] Basic Package of LibreOffice to Download

2012-05-01 Thread Daniel Morgan
I noticed the Windows Installer for LibreOffice 3.5.2 is 202MB which takes a
while to download.

Is it possible to have a "lite" version of LibreOffice that only includes
the word processor and spreadsheet?  The other LibreOffice apps I do not use.

I understand the windows installer can allow me to pick and choose what
apps I want to install, but this is after I have downloaded the big
Windows Installer.

Re: [libreoffice-users] creating heading styles with appropriate numbering

2012-03-19 Thread Daniel Wibbing
Hi, Gergely,

a) In the "Outline & Numbering" tab under "Outline" you can set the "Outline
level" of your heading style. And in the same tab you can also set a "Numbering
Style", so the numbers and dots appear as you want them to.
b) If you also want your headings to appear in an index table, you can also set
the levels of your headings in "Tools", "Outline Numbering".

Re: [libreoffice-users] How do I change page orientation for only ONE page in Writer?

2012-02-04 Thread Daniel Wibbing
Hi Konstantinos,

you could convert the page of which you want to change the orientation into a
Title page:
Format/ Tilte Page … / Convert existing pages to title pages / Place title
pages at page 3 (e.g.) / Edit Page Properties /Orientation Landscape
However when I tried this, the first page of the document would also change its
orientation. I don't know how to switch this off.
Does that help you in any way?

Re: [libreoffice-users] relative paths to linked graphics do not work

Hi Brian,

you are a genius! :)
Using this little dot in front of the path name really works!
> ./Bilder/Kapitel 2/Hall_effect_A.png

Like this I am now able to delete the beginnings of the absolute path names,
set the dot in front of the relative part and the picture will be shown. Great!

However this is certainly not the most elegant way a program should work.
cK correctly said:

So I would guess that there is a real bug in LibreOffice concerning that.

Could anyone tell me how bugs are reported?

Thanks a lot for all your answers!

[libreoffice-users] relative paths to linked graphics do not work

2012-01-29 Thread Daniel Wibbing
Hi everyone!

I am new to this mailing list. I hope I am using it in the right way:

The situation:
I have a document (my dissertation) with a lot of pictures, which I inserted as
links.
The document is in a folder "Dissertation"
The pictures are in the folder "Bilder/..." in the folder "Dissertation"

I copied the the folder "Dissertation" to different volumes when I was working
on my project at different places.
I always updated LibreOffice to the most recent version. I now have LibreOffice
3.4.5

The problem is:
The pictures are not shown any more in my document.
Instead only the absolute link from one of the volumes on which I added the
picture is shown.
example:
file:///Users/daniel/Volumes/share/SensMiLi/Dissertation/Bilder/Kapitel
2/Hall_effect_A.png

My question is:
Why does LibreOffice not find the relative path to the pictures in the
"myProject" folder, which always stayed the same?
example: /Bilder/Kapitel 2/Hall_effect_A.png

I would be very happy if you could help me! :)
Daniel

After select the text to convert you may choose Table - Convert - Text to Table

To achieve the goal you need a common separator, such as a tab,
semicolon or paragraph. Also, you can type the character that you want
to use as a column marker.

hope that could be helpful

It seems that, indeed, the issue has already been raised and discussed in the
OOO.org past, but not solved:

http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=61615

http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8006

I
don't know of any feature that would yield this precise effect in LO
-- please correct me anyone if I am out of date on this -- but as a
temporary workaround it is possible create a page style with zero-sized
headers and margins. I know it is far from perfect given that it would
have an effect on formatting (even though easily and instantly reversible)
instead of being only a
view mode change, but at least that would provide the desired "look and
feel (better than the web layout).

Some functions you can look into:
ISNA(reference) - [is the reference #N/A ?]
ISERROR(reference) - [is the reference any of the following: #VALUE, #REF,
#NAME or #N/A ?]
ISERR(reference) - [is the reference any of the following: #VALUE, #REF or
#NAME ?]

All of these functions return boolean results (either TRUE, or FALSE) which
you can then use in an IF() statement. Notice that ISERROR() and ISERR()
only differ when it comes to #N/A. Please also note that I am not 100% sure
of the definitions I gave here, this is only what I observed from use.

As mentioned before, I think ISERROR() would work for your case. There are
also some other IS... functions you can look at, but are not really relevant
to this topic. Hope this helps.

Regards
Jack

Pronunciation does not make any difference when posting, since you

Hi Tom, I've been playing around with formats trying to get a
significant file size reduction but just a few kb in some files.
Others became to loosy to read them.

as I said on previous message my problem was related to master pages,
in that case setting a different background on each master page didn't
work. But importing the images and then send them to back did. So,
give it a try and tell us.
