2012-06-28 Thread Spiff

Thanks very much for your elaborate reply, krackedpress.

I see you put the new 2.10g version Dutch spell checker dictionary online,
nice.

Concerning the British English dictionary, thanks for explaining - so I
guess anyone who needs to install one could use the 638k kpp British English
dictionary file.

And thanks for the information about .oxt-files actually being compressed
files.
I guess there might be an issue with Opera misinterpreting .oxt-files for
.zip-files. Perhaps renaming the downloaded 'zip'-files back to .oxt-files
might do the trick. I'll suggest that to the mentioned Opera user for him as
an experiment.

Regarding the fix for LibreOffice,
Manfred J. Krause's reply indicates the issue will be fixed with version
3.5.5, and also mentions the workaround for the current version.
Nice to know version 3.5.5 is up for next week, thanks, krackedpress.

Thanks again
and best regards,

Spiff

[libreoffice-users] Again, reports of LibO AutoSpellcheck not working after updates.

2012-06-28 Thread Spiff
So I guess this English GB dictionary extension had got missing also,
somehow.
It was the first time the user tried AutoSpellcheck for English GB, so
there's no telling whether the problem arose from the update to 3.5.4 or
whether it originated from an earlier update.
Reinstallation of an English GB dictionary extension fixed the problem, for
now.
However, the cause of the problem is unknown, as it was with the other and
earlier cases.

Hi Sharon,
First I didn't notice you're from the UK, so I wasn't able to advise you
what AutoSpellcheck Dictionary extension to choose and install.
Although it's a US-site, the mentioned pages also offer several(!)
dictionaries for Great Britain English.
Go to:
http://libreoffice-na.us/English-3.4-installs/dictionary.html#english
and have a look at the items that are shown for "English (Great Britain)".

Good luck,
and let us know if it helped.

Much appreciated!

At the Dutch Tweakers.net site user SP1980 mentioned another location where
the "Dutch spelling and hyphenation Dictionary" extension can be found, as
an OpenOffice.org extension:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/node/1456
It's the same file (although abbreviated to nl-dict-v2.00g.oxt)

Thank you, Dan.
I downloaded and installed the "Dutch spelling and hyphenation Dictionary"
http://libreoffice-na.us/English/add-on-dictionaries-large-list/Dutch_spelling_and_hyphenation_Dictionary--nl-dict-v2.00g2010-09-22.oxt

Perfect!
Now AutoSpellcheck works for Dutch language as it did before updating to
LibO 3.5.0.
Wonderful.

A few questions:

I looked for a Dutch spelling dictionary extension at
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center but there was no such
thing there.
How did you know about http://libreoffice-na.us/English/dictionary.html ?
Is it mentioned in the LibreOffice help pages or documentation?

And does anyone have any idea why/how the Dutch dictionary was lost (or
deactivated?) with the upgrade to LibO 3.5.0?

Anyhow,
I'm very happy AutoSpellcheck works for Dutch language as it did before,
now.
Thanks very much, once more.

Best regards,
Spiff

Anthonie Smit wrote:
" You can try to run LibreOffice with another user account. If that makes a

Good thinking.
There was was no difference with my other user account, but that may very
well have the same settings and the same problem as the other account.
So I set up a new user account, a test-account, in which LO would have
default settings. And behold, AutoSpellcheck works for Dutch language!
But why not in the other accounts?

Dan Lewis wrote:
" What does LO 3.5 have as the Default language?"
" Check Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages > Font "
That's Nederlands (Dutch) (so that should be OK).
Dan Lewis wrote:
" Does Dutch have the check and abc in front of it indicating LO has the
Dutch dictionary installed?"
Ah! It does not! Very good thinking!
How can this be? How did it lose that Dutch dictionary installation?
There's still a "Nederlands spelling woordenboek en woordafbrekingsregels
2.0.0" (Dutch spelling dictionary and hyphenation rules) extension in
Extension Manager, just like in the LO-installation with the default
settings in the test-account that I mentioned.
Where should I look for a 'lost' Dutch dictionary?
How can I repair its installation in my regular accounts?

Jay Lozier wrote:
" Check when you are using the Dutch dictionary under Tools>>Spelling and

Dutch is missing as an option for Text language in Spelling and Grammar!
Check spelling as you type is selected.

Dutch not having the check and ABC in front of it seems to be the problem,
as Dan pointed out.
I guess the fact that Dutch is missing as an option for Text language in
Spelling and Grammar is a result of that?

So, again:
Where should I look for the 'lost' Dutch dictionary?
How can I repair its installation in my two regular accounts?
And also quite interesting: Why was the Dutch dictionary lost in LO in my
two regular accounts? What happened with the upgrade to LibO 3.5.0?

Thank you, Anthonie.
That's interesting.
I used the LibO_3.5.0_Win_x86_install_multi.msi installer on Windows Vista
Ultimate SP2 32 bit.
But I doubt if the Windows version was what made the difference.
I could imagine some non-default setting for AutoSpellcheck could be what
causes the problem, but I can't find out which setting could have that
effect.
Anyone?

[libreoffice-users] LibO 3.5.0 Writer - AutoSpellcheck doesn't work for Dutch language

2012-02-14 Thread Spiff

As I'm not sure at which list best to post, and as several lists that seem
more suitable are restricted and need a request to get access, I'll first
post to the Users list.
Please let me know if I should better post to another list.

About LibO 3.5.0 Writer - AutoSpellcheck doesn't work for Dutch language -

AutoSpellcheck checks each word as it is typed and displays a wavy red line
under any misspelled words. When the word is corrected, the red wavy line
disappears.
Today I updated to LibO 3.5.0, using the
LibO_3.5.0_Win_x86_install_multi.msi installer, and now I notice that
AutoSpellcheck doesn't work for Dutch language. When I choose English (US)
AutoSpellcheck works fine and displays a wavy red line under any misspelled
words.

Is it a bug in LibO 3.5.0, AutoSpellcheck not working for Dutch language?
(If so, at which list should I post to report that bug?)
Or is it something I can correct as user?

Best regards,
Spiff
