[libreoffice-users] Re: Unwanted horizontal white hairline rules in PDF in Mac Preview
I'm sure it's a rendering issue. But it didn't happen when I was using NeoOffice, and I'd like to find out what's different in the PDF to cause it, to see if I can work around the problem. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Unwanted-horizontal-white-hairline-rules-in-PDF-in-Mac-Preview-tp3552492p3556179.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Not for me -- they get clearer and sharper as I zoom in. I'll attach an excerpt from a screenshot. http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/file/n3555176/Preview001.png -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Unwanted-horizontal-white-hairline-rules-in-PDF-in-Mac-Preview-tp3552492p3555176.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
[libreoffice-users] Re: Unwanted horizontal white hairline rules in PDF in Mac Preview
When I originally posted this problem I didn't have access to a color printer because I was travelling. Now I'm home and when I print either directly from LibreOffice or via Export PDF and then Preview, there are no white lines. But they're clearly visible on the screen, and they aren't grid lines or tiling problems; they are far from evenly spaced. But since it seems to print correctly, I guess I should downgrade this from a deal-killer to an annoyance. I'll report back if it prints incorrectly on the commercial 11x17 full bleed printer I'll be using for the final document. [libreoffice-users] Re: Unwanted horizontal white hairline rules in PDF in Mac Preview
Thank you all for your suggestions. I, too, see a grid in some readers (e.g., Evince on Linux) but it's not a grid of sharp white lines; it's just a noticeable artifact of tiling the background (sand.jpg from the LibreOffice gallery). Apparently its edges don't join smoothly; it wasn't (virtually) printed on a torus and then sliced. I think this is a separate problem from my very crisp 100% white horizontal-only lines. I was kind of hoping someone would declare this an official LibreOffice bug and fix it, or come up with a good workaround. I don't want to have to redo the whole project in Adobe Illustrator or something. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Unwanted-horizontal-white-hairline-rules-in-PDF-in-Mac-Preview-tp3552492p3555093.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
[libreoffice-users] Unwanted horizontal white hairline rules in PDF in Mac Preview
I just switched from NeoOffice to LibreOffice on my Mac. LibreOffice is much more reliable! I was getting mysterious disappearances of pictures in NeoOffice and have had no such problems since the switch. But one new problem is that when I export a PDF and then view it in Preview (in MacOS 10.6.8), there are full-width hairline white horizontal rules aligned with the top edge of some JPGs in the document. These rules don't appear when I view the document in Adobe Reader, but they do seem to appear when I /print/ even from Adobe Reader. So I'm guessing the exported PDF has some not-quite-standard feature that isn't working in MacOS.
