Hi all! Please Does anybody know how I can get ports 9202 and 9203 up with the kannel? Does anybody already has the kannel 1.2 working well with this ports (supporting WTLS)? Pleace help me! hi! Thanks for your reply, does anyboy know if the kwtls_patch would help me with the kannel 1.2, because I have read that this patch is for the old kannel versions. Please, could anybody explain me how I can install it? I could't found enough information about it... where does I have to install it, how I run it? Usually patches are applied with the unix patch command. Example if your patch is called wtls_patch.diff: patch -p0 < wtls_patch.diff In case it asks which file to patch, either enter the path of the file. Infrared port on a PC
Hello, Does anyone know of a way to access the Infrared port on a PC (to drive a Nokia Phone). what I need is to find a way to map the Windows 2000 IR port to a cygwin device (e.g. /dev/ir0 ) then the modem code will work as is. Does anyone know how to do this? There are ominous statements at Microsoft that you can't map the IR port to a virtual COM port since Windows 2000 doesn't have this concept. Windows has added my nokia phone as a modem and I can query it from windows. Any suggestions? Thanks for any "Tales of Woe" that anyone can share with me ;-) Cheers, David

1 kannel box
Hello All Users, I agree on setting up on only 1 kannel box. I tried setting up 2 kannel box. It is too tedious to maintain. Anyhow, Kannel allows to handle routing and multiple accounts. We've been using 1 instance of kannel in our system for 9 months now anfd everything is okei. Except the DLR-Mysql setup. ;(. I could not get that to work! It's configured correctly (no error/warning is displayed), but no data seems to go in the database. Anyhow, based on all our sms, they all go in mysql, before they are sent out. We do our own sent or not flag. Aside from C language, PHP has helped a LOT! We do get an "Unsupported EMI XSer field 13" message. I guess this is from our SMSC. They are using UCP/EMI 3.5 and kannel is using EMI/UCP 4.0. Is this correct? I checked out the difference of 3.5 and 4.0. And does state that XSer doesn't come out yet. As for our CIMD2 SMSC, Im trying to figure out the setup of tariff class, do i just reconfigure my Kannel with the patch? And with that build, do I add the CIMD2_tariff_class & Serv to my : sms-service group? or sendsms-user group? Thanks to all that helped, Caesare

Are all your 3 kannel connection uses only 1 user? no, we had several different users (copied to each config file) for different applications. thats the reason that we had multiple instances - same kannel-user sending on different tarriffs. though as Oded has just pointed out, its not the best solution for all people. > 2. How do you handle your reply messages to different provider? we didnt - vodafone only service :( from what i understood when i left the uk (over a year ago now), voda in the uk were going to be bringing out a "big number" feature which would be a normal MSISDN rather than shortcode - therefore routing on all networks (but not reverse billed on each network). I have no idea whether this has happened yet. wilf
Third millennium puzzle: WAP Push decoding
I am trying to understand the WAP Push Service Indication encoding/decoding vs. the standard specifications. The chore is really similar to solve a puzzle and now I am close to the solution, but something is still missing. Hereby you can find my decoding of SI sent by the Kannel bearer box using a Wavecom modem. Could you help me to fill the "???" fields, eventually quoting the specification I should read? Re: SMS Receive cannot accept
Hello, had the same problem, that my installation of Kannel was working fine on sending SMS but I had problems while receiving. My log file entries look like the same as from Afif. It first appeard in version 1.1.6 and it is still in Version 1.2.0. I found out that the mobile phones from Nokia (6210) does not work in "Phase 2+", whatever that means, I don't know, but Kannel tells me in the log files when starting up that this mode is found. I disabled this feature (?) by editing the source code and setting the right variable to false and now my installation of Kannel works fine, it is still no more probem to have it both, sending and receiving. By the way, what do you mean with "version 1.2.1". RE: Tariff/3 Kannel (running several SMSC connections using multiple instances of kannel on one box)
we used to run our systems that way too - each connection was handled by a different set of Bearerbox/SMSBox. we came to the conclusion that in addition to much larger configuration complexity, its also not a good idea from the resource usage point of view. Since a bearerbox can easily be set up to have more then one connection, and Kannel can easily route message to and from the correct connection if the configuration is done properly, this is simply not worth the extra hassle. we still have a system where we have three Kannel sets running at the same time, and this is required only because one connection is a stable connection and last time we took it down the provider complained loudly, another is a not so stable connection that tends to crash the boxes from time to time (my fault entirely - poorly written driver) and the last uses a development grade driver that is known not to behave under certain conditions. so we need to have three different programs running so that if one of the non-stable connection crashes it won't affect the other two. other then that I don't see any reason not to use a single Kannel setup for all the connections hosted on the same machine. -- Oded Arbel m-Wise mobile solutions [EMAIL PROTECTED] +972-9-9581711 (116) +972-67-340014 ::..
