sendmail bombarding logs
Hi, I ran journalctl -b to see what is causing bumblebee to fail. I see the log is huge. There are thousands of line and the file is as big as 5.1 mb. I see a sendmail line over and over. I don't think I use sendmail or what installed it. boot problem
I'm trying to get Fedora 23 to boot on a a system which will eventually have no monitor attached (will use a serial console). The system does have a graphics card in it (and was used for the initial install) the system now starts booting properly but fails almost immediately after re-sizing the screen from 80x24 to ??? to make matters even more complicated I am building the system on one machine and then plan on moving the disks to another system which will have a different video card (built in but not connected to a monitor) See below for the serial console output. Fedora 23 KDE spin -- Widgets falling through to wrong Activity?
I just installed the Fedora23 KDE spin in a new laptop (HP envy). It has gone great except for a couple of small glitches. This glitch has to do with Activies. When I create a Widget in an activity, it sometimes disappears when I move it, and ends up in a different Activity. I looked in my .xsession-error file and see the following, that looks a bit suspicious: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 55266, resource id: 27262984, major code: 18 (ChangeProperty), minor code: 0 list is empty file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.desktopcontainment/contents/ui/main.qml: QML Plasmoid: Cannot anchor to an item that isn't a parent or sibling. The journal contains no messages at the time of these events, > so if there's a state change that explains this, it's not a loggable > one. Keep in mind the baremetal system that it consistently happens on, has a VM running in which it does not happen. The other manifestations are google searches and account switches hanging. For search, I usually use the URL field to do the search and then hit return. The typical result is nearly instant but no results are displayed, just the google search bar and under that the qualifiers All Video News Maps Imaging Shopping, and then white space where there should be search results but there are none. I click reload icon on the right side of the URL field but instead of reloading, the URL field is replaced by gray "Search or Enter Address" as if nothing had previously been entered or loaded. If I try again using the exact same steps, it works normally. It's a total crap shoot. For account switching, click on my gmail account icon on the upper right, choose add account, yadda yadda and I get "Loading who...@whatever.com..." with a progress bar, and 1/2 the time I do this that progress bar just hangs at some point and then nothing. No error, no recovery, total hang. Click reload, kablewy, nothing in the URL field, it's just a new blank empty tab. It's so totally fakaked. But I'll be dammed if anything like this happens with duck duck go, or anything on fedoraproject.org, or Hacker News, or any other sites. It's really just google stuff, and then dnf. But again I don't know that those things are related as dnf is often hanging on a headless Intel NUC also. -- Chris Murphy -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? Fedora 23 KDE spin -- no desktop cube?
I just bought me a new laptop (HP envy) and installed Fedora 23 dual boot with Win 8.1. Everything works great, but there are a couple of things about the KDE installation that cause me a bit of a disappointment. 1) There's no desktop cube animation option. Is that a design/deployment decision, or is it an installation problem? Obviously, losing a bit of eye-candy is not the end of the world, but I'm a bit dissapointed. The other is an Activity thing that I'll ask about in a second post, so as not to mix topics. Best luck has been with the HP family of laser printers, esp w/ their hplip software. Most have worked out of the box and toner to ink cost was substantially lower across the year. I'm looking for that sort of experience, just newer. Any suggestions? Thomas When I needed to replace our last inkjet with a laser, purchased HP m475dn printer. Full multifunction with other options. Higher priced but runs beautifully. Purchased from HP direct as it was at a lower cost than I could get quoted at any local shop, it was free shipping at the time. Had it in a week. We use these printers at work as well which is one of the reasons I purchased it. Purchase supplies direct from HP when on sale Much lower price than local stores, in some cases, almost 50% lower. We usually replace all color cartridges in a year due to usage and black more often. HP has a three pack of color cartridges for the price of two when on sale. Last time was less than the cost of two at the local store. NO expiry date on the cartridges. They also sell dual packs of black at a greatly lower cost. Usually purchase a replacement pair when we put the last one in. Cost of laser cartridges are much lower than ink used to cost. With Fedora, printer works out of the box using DHCP or configured manually. Scanning requires a HP driver that downloads and installs almost automatically. Full duplex which is needed for all the document printing my wife does. Also as I found out, does full duplex scanning as well with sheet feeder. My daughter has a Samsung (cannot remember the model) which worked out of the box. Popped up with test print when plugging in to usb as a test without installing any software. She configured it for network printing. I have never seen it. Finally had to replace the original cartridge after a year of university printing. -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? I can use, theoretically, any compositor. But other than Xrender turns my laptop in a snail. I have some effects selected but none of them works.
