When you say "same problem" and "works fine": is your problem 100% reproducible?

Difficult to tell if it works or not as the problem seems to appear only after
hours from the boot.
And I did read that GNOME improved garbage collection in javascript...

If you have 100% login crash, it is probably something else.

There was an issue when I first got it with the Ethernet adapter in the
dock, and more recently there were problems with displays connected to
the dock.

That said, all of them have had workarounds, and the kernel community
has ultimately been able to fix them.

(I do have Thunderbolt security turned off in the BIOS, so that I can

I'm not going to beat those apps

Anyway, determined that the .xpi file is associated with the Default Theme.  So,
probably shouldn't delete it.

F28 how to disable dim of display on gnome DE?

2018-06-13 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
when using mate desktop I remember I could define different settings fir my
laptop display when on ac and when on battery.
In particular for the display brightness.

I see now in F28 with gnome desktop that after 15 seconds my laptop screen
dims and I don't know how to disable this function, neither overall nor
when on ac at least...

I found some references of settings in dconf related to backlight, but it
seems there is not one available for gnome...

Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

If you do decide you want to beat firefox and thunderbird over the head, this
might have some useful info about making mods to bits of packages so they
stick around across updates:

http://tomhorsley.com/game/Mjolnir.html

I use it to automagically re-apply any changes I've made to installed
system files after an update that might have put the stuff I don't want
back (an extreme hack, but after it worked, I stopped improving it
so it never got "elegant" :-).

If you did a "dnf whatprovides" on those files you'd lean they were packaged
with
firefox-60.0.1-6 and thunderbird-52.8.0-1.

I do not know the role they play.  I suppose you could move them out of the way
and
see if there are any adverse effects.  Their removal may cause subsequent
problems,
verification may fail, when those packages are updated.

Uninstalling {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd}.xpi

2018-06-13 Thread Robert Moskowitz

It seems I picked this up when I built this F28 system in both

/usr/lib64/firefox/browser/extensions/{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd}.xpi
/usr/lib64/thunderbird/extensions/{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd}.xpi

Seems to be an unpleasant Ads thing.  I noticed it because how I run
Thunderbird (from a script in a terminal window) shows the messages:

1528602128990    addons.update-checker    WARN    Update manifest for
{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} did not contain an updates property

The tools I found for removing it are all windows based.  How do I get

Bonjour,

I have dictd installed and encounter some configuration and dictionary
problems. Seeking some help, I found nothing: mailing lists never answer
if you want to subscribe, author never answer... There is web site with
poor explanations and so on!

Is this project still alive? Or is it only for some happy few?

Thank you for giving me some lights!
