Re: Brother HL-5250DN duplex printing: loves me, loves me not, ...
| From: D. Hugh Redelmeier h...@mimosa.com | See http://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/hugh/poppler-fix-f20/ | | I'd love feedback. Thanks for the feedback. We've noticed that we can no longer print envelopes. I wonder why. The printer no longer stops with a blinking light, awaiting a blank envelope to be inserted in the second feed. When you do put one there, it doesn't print on it. I need to check if it is printing somewhere off the envelope. More investigation is required. I'm not sure when I can get to this. Does anyone else notice this problem? Thanks, Hugh. I enabled the repo, as per your (untested) suggestion, did the yum update, and voila, I got duplex printing. This was success with only one document, and if the update is going to break other things, it hasn't had time to do that. But things look very good so far. Thanks again. -- Mike On Wed, Jul 2, 2014 at 12:11 AM, D. Hugh Redelmeier h...@mimosa.com wrote: | From: D. | From: Michael Hannon jmhannon.ucda...@gmail.com | Date: Mon, 19 May 2014 21:57:20 -0700 This thread is over a month old. I found it when thrashing around to solve my own problem: failure of duplex printing with Fedora 20 on a Brother HL-5150D (connected via USB). Please look at this bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1035090 There is a work-around that works for me (see comment 9): sudo lpadmin -p PrinterName -o pdftops-renderer-default=gs The real problem is a bug ip pdftops. Yet every time I printed I would get double-sided print-outs. In checking the print options for each application I was using the Double-sided option was selected. In order to get single-sided, I always had to manually revert it within all of the applications. Ultimately, I ran hp-toolbox (which isn't applicable to you) and set the default there After that, each application did pick up the default single sided. So, it seems, settings are held in multiple places and I'm not certain where all the places are and which location has priority. Anyway. Just wondering, when you print from an application, if you checked to see what printer options are being used. -- Do not condemn the judgment of another because it differs from your own.
