This was not in your initial post.

Check your dnf.conf file and see if you have an exclude line in there.

In f27 I have recently replaced yumex-dnf by dnfdragora. I'm not yet
familiar with its current idiosyncracies, but I notice that perl-Encode
is not marked as installed, while other packages are.

I tried dnf install perl-Encode, and was told that it was already
installed. rpm -qa sees it too. Perhaps suggests all is not quite
right. There are several other perl-Encode* packages.

Sorry, it was "dnf info perl-Encode", but same effect.

That was it, thanks. Must have added it too long ago to have
remembered, and also don't remember why it would have been added. Must
have been a problem we were having back with fedora25.

Thanks,
Alex

The modules.yaml is for the new modules feature that's coming.

What does "dnf search perl-encode" give you?

It appears to make no difference. I also removed entirely the
/var/cache/dnf directory and tried again. The modules.yaml file is
missing, but it's also not present on a system that does succeed in
finding this package.

Compare the fedora.repo on a machine that finds it with one that
doesn't. There may be a significant difference, although I've no idea
what it would be.

Select packages missing from repo

2018-07-20 Thread Alex
Hi,
I have a fedora28 machine that was upgraded from fedora25 and having
some problems with some packages showing as unavailable from the repo.

perl-Encode is one such package. On one machine "dnf info perl-Encode"
shows the package is available, but on others it is not.

# dnf info perl-Encode
Last metadata expiration check: 2:30:58 ago on Fri 20 Jul 2018 12:28:10 PM EDT.
Error: No matching Packages to list

What could cause this? I've tried running "dnf clean all" then
re-running the dnf info command with no change.

The following is the [fedora] section of /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo:

# cat fedora.repo
[fedora]
name=Fedora $releasever - $basearch
failovermethod=priority
#baseurl=http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/$releasever/Everything/$basearch/os/
metalink=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-$releasever=$basearch
enabled=1
metadata_expire=7d
repo_gpgcheck=0
type=rpm
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-$releasever-$basearch
skip_if_unavailable=False

What more can be done to troubleshoot this?
