Can you adjust the resolution with System/Preferences/Display? No - the maximum resolution there is 1024x768 - which I presume is the default res of the virtual screen. The monitor is capable of 1280x1024 (it was previously running Fedora 14). You misunderstand - I installed the system originally using qemu-kvm on a PHYSICAL (not virtual) disk and then when I was happy that nearly everything was working properly, I rebooted the machine as a NON-virtual ie a normal physical machine.
