I tweaked the plugin, as quite a few properties just don't make sense.

One was the checkout directory.

2003-12-01 Thread gps
Hi there,

I have been using Maven for a while now and have even persuaded and setup AstroGrid to
use Maven as it's main build system. Hooray!!

I have a question regarding POM inheritance though. I had assumed that if I extended
a POM that I would also get it's properties. I thought this because you inherit
dependencies and so if, as I do, you have a custom repository, you need to inherit
that too.

It would seem that I was mistaken however. Is there a good reason for this? I think
it would be sensible to automagically get the properties too.

Many thanks for your help,

Peter

P.S. I'm using Maven-1.0-rc1 with Sun JDK 1.4.1 under RH9

how are you echoing maven.dependency.classpath?

Ant can't echo objects normally, so you can't just use

${maven.dependency.classpath}, usually you have to use an ant
trick to do it, e.g.

${classpath}

No, the error is:
Project descriptor
> > D:\ri\op\op\op\checkout\op\project.xml does not exist

You need to checkout op into the checkout\op directory once before the
standard CC setup works. I never attempted to do a cvs bootstrapper that
might achieve this - if anyone has it figured out let me know and I'll
adjust the plugin.

Torque Plugin in Eclipse

2003-12-01 Thread Vikas Phonsa
Hi,

Has anybody tried using the Torque Plugin configured as an External tool
from within Eclipse.

I would like to know how to use that in Eclipse, what the directory
structure should be, where to place build.xml and other files, where the
generated sql and java code would go and other configuration steps.

Thanks

Vikas

Re: Ant classpath and Maven repository

2003-12-01 Thread Mikael Lundgren
From reading the sources it would seem that what i wanted to achieve
isn't really possible.

So... i wrote my own very first maven plugin instead. It is totally
unsofisticated and only barely does what I wanted it to... but hey,
small steps.

Cheers!

Don't redirect to "maven.log" as log4j is set up to use that file...
choose a different file name :)

Trying to install Maven on private network

2003-12-01 Thread Berin Loritsch
This is a real challenge. Due to the nature of plugins, there are a number of
items that are downloaded behind the scenes, and not even reported--until you
try to actually build something with the install.
I found that both Jing and Commons Logging were two of those items. The weird
thing is that when I have my system installed over on the private network, it
requires these JARs--but on the public network, it seems not to need them.
I don't quite get it, but I thought it would be decent to report these problems
in case someone else can benefit from it.

Plugin Issues

2003-12-01 Thread Jason van Zyl
Hi,

There now exists a JIRA project for most of the plugins so if you have
an issue to raise for a plugin please use the appropriate project. Do
not raise the issue in the core Maven JIRA project.

I'm hoping this will be another step toward being able to navigate the
issues better in the hopes of processing them faster. I'm trying to get
some custom JIRA reporting done so that progress on issue processing can
be tracked a little better as it's been a little out of hand lately
simply because everything was globbed together.

Ant classpath and Maven repository

2003-12-01 Thread Mikael Lundgren
Hi,

yet again what seems to be a simple query but for which I can't find the
answer...

I'm trying to create a maven.xml goal that uses functionality that
exists in a maven plugin (but which isn't exploited). I did manage to
change the actual plugin (ie the plugin.jelly file) to alter the
behaviour in the way I wanted, but changing the plugin like that is not
what I had in mind.

In the maven.xml file however I can't seem to understand how I can build
a classpath to the jars that are necessary. The only thing I can come up
with is adding the plugins i'm interested in to the dependencies in the
pom... which obvioulsy is't what I intended (this would be done by using
something along the lines of pom.getDependencyPath(...)).

Oh, btw... I'm trying to add a simple CPD report to my project from the
PMD plugin... So if anyone already did this... well... I'd be interested ;-)

So, basically what I'm asking is: how do I create a classpath to a
plugin (or repository) jar from within maven.xml?

Thanks

The maven hibernate plugin doesn't work, so I wrote this stuff to get it to
work:

maven.dependency.classpath won't echo because it's a reference, you would
have to iterate through it to see what's in it.
Also make sure that you use classpathref="project.classpath" and not
classpathref=${project.classpath}, same with maven.dependency.classpath

calling ant and classpath problem

2003-12-01 Thread Geesken, Edmund
I have executed maven with the -X setting.

And the result is, that the maven.dependency.classpath is set but in my
maven.xml goal not accessible. The ant:echo returns an empty string.

The ant:jspc is therefore called with the system classpath witch is not
prepared for this compilation.

Any ideas??

Regards

Edmund

Re: maven, cactus and weblogic 6.1

2003-12-01 Thread Virga
hi everyone,
Vincent is right, it's not maven who dropped support for wl 6.1, it's
cactus.
anyway, the problem is solved, i used the old version of maven-cactus-plugin
(i.e. maven-cactus-plugin-2.0) bundled in maven-1.0 beta 9, which i
currently used. And now, i'm trying to find out how to make it works with
.ear (and the next task would be with wl 6.1 cluster).

regards,
Virga

Adding other sources trees for javadoc.

2003-12-01 Thread Noel Winstanley
Hi,
I've got a maven project where, in addition to the src/ and test/ code trees,
we've added a third tree - generated/ . In here is a bunch of code generated
using tools such as axis's wsdl2java, and castor. We wanted to keep this away
from the hand-crafted code, so as not to accidentaly overwrite stuff.

The new source tree is linked into the compile process by adding this
preGoal:-

which works for compilation and tests. However, the javadoc goal doesn't pick
this up - is there a path variable I need to kludge to tell javadoc about the
extra sources? Likewise for cross-referenced sources too.

Thanks in advance,
Noel.

calling ant and classpath problem

2003-12-01 Thread Geesken, Edmund
I have search around and have found one thing i can not explain for me.

After every start of maven for example java:compile, site:generate or
something else.

The line

Attempting to download maven-SNAPSHOT.jar.

But when I start my own goal which is defined in the maven.xml file

This line is never shown.

Is maven not initialized?

Is there something more I have to do?

Don't understand the answer...I should include the project.properties file
in my war includes property? As the property doesn't work this file is
included by default...

Anybody tried using maven with generic java (JSR14) yet?

2003-12-01 Thread David Hall
I'm trying to see if maven will help me maintain a project that uses the
Generic Java (JSR14) compiler. Has anyone used this combination yet?

In ant, I use the following task to compile the project:

and I use the -D option on the ant command line to define JSR14DISTR and
J2SE14 (which the generic compiler needs).

Can someone please point me to the place where I can put this information to
get the project to build?

Thanks

Dave Hall

WAR Plug-in Help

Subject: WAR Plug-in Help

Hello,

I am trying to get the WAR plug-in running but it does not work as
described...?

in my maven.war.src dierctory I have 7 directories from which I want 3 to be
included in my war file. (jsp, xsl, layout_elemente)

Therfore I define the following property:

maven.war.src.includes = jsp xsl layout_elemente

All 7 directories are included

If tried to use , as a separator define the directories jsp/** and **/jsp/**
and */jsp/** everything has the same effect.

After that I have defined a maven.war.src.excludes property and excluded the
4 directories I didn't want to be included. No effect. Everything is
included. (I've tried the same patterns as in includes)

Than I have defined just a maven.war.src.excludes = project.xml so that the
project.xml is not included in the war. No effect it is included...

What am I doing wrong???

Thanks,
Mirko
