Until today I've been using only jar:install which puts things in the local repository. I have not installed (or deployed) anything to a remote repository, which is the next step. maven-proxy automatically maintains a read/write repository but with Apache I want to share a read only official repository. Ok, so now you know what the deploy goals are for :) maven-proxy automatically maintains a read/write repository but with Apache I want to share a read only official repository. The proxy is read only as far as I know. It just caches the results. Anyhow what I guess you want is a companywide repos that every developer has access to so that they can deploy their artifact there. The proxy should only proxy the ibiblio and other external repositories outside the company.
