Hi CD, Volker, in MyFaces this isn't necessary anymore - and hasn't been for over a year. Hi, you MUST assign a unique id to all components created by your application code, e.g.: all componets which are not created by the framework via jsf tags. And (according to my experience) you should not use createUniqueId() of UIViewRoot.
