Fw: autocorrect file
On Friday, 17 January 2014, 16:55, Gerry Dutchie wrote: Dear Sandra, It may be a little complicated but the information you want is in a hidden folder on your harddisc. 1. First make the hidden folders visible. 2. Then locate the file(s) you seek and... 3. Copy it (them) to your Windows 8 machine. (I have to guess a bit concerning the precise US american names because I work with the Netherlands version of the software). 1. - Start Windows Explorer (not your browser!). You can find it under the startbutton, click Computer. - Open the menubar by pressing the left Alt-key on your keyboard. Click on the menu option Tools. - Click in the menu on the last option (Folderoptions?) - Click the middle tab. - Now you have to look for something that will be called Hidden files and folders. If this option is closed, click on it. - You should see two radiobuttons. Click the one that says Display hidden files and folders. - Click OK. Step 2. - If I'm right you should see your username in Explorer's left panel. If not you're in trouble ;-))) - Click your username in the left panel. You should see a folder now with the name Appdata. - Click to open. - In the right panel look for OpenOffice. Double click it. - Depending on the version of OpenOffice that you use you will see another folder with a number. Doubleclick it to open. - You'll see yet another folder with the name User. You guessed right? Yeah, double click to open. - Now you will see many folders. The top one is the one you're looking for. The Autotext one might also be worth while copying to your new Windows 8 machine as wel as the Template folder (should you have been using templates)... Step 3. - But before copying: - If OpenOffice is running on your Windows 8 computer, close it. I don't really like Windows 8. But if you manage to get past this horrible Tiles-interface Windwos 8's File Explorer basically works the same as in Windows Vista or Windows 7. So repeat the same actions to make the hidden files and folders visible: - Go to your desktop and start File Explorer. - Open the View menu. On the right of the button bar you'll see Hidden items. Click it. - Now click in the left pane This PC, then the C: drive, then in the right pane Users, your Username, then Appdata and so on until you have located the same folders as on your Vista machine. - Copy/Paste your Autocorr and Autotext to the right place (the \Appdata\OpenOffice\4\user\ folder. - Then restart OpenOffice and you should be alright. Finanally I would advise you to hide de files and folders when you're done. Thus you avoid accidentally throwing away important files which may hamper the correct workings of Microsofts Windows! I wish you good luck! There should be an entry there for AutoCorrect. That tells you where the file is stored. Do the same on your new computer to see where you need to copy it. Note: Default Windows configuration may hide these directories. If so, you'll want to follow these steps to unhide them: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7 Regards, -Rob > - > To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org > For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org > - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
Fwd: AOO 4.1 Feature Verification Test needs your help -- Call for volunteers!
A good opportunity to test-drive AOO 4.1, in a pre-beta form. I wouldn't recommend using pre-release code for real work, but if you are curious and can help run some test cases (we have 945 test cases remaining) you can help us reach our beta-release target. Read on for more details about how to help... Regards, -Rob -- Forwarded message -- From: Yuzhen Fan Date: Fri, Jan 17, 2014 at 4:39 AM Subject: AOO 4.1 Feature Verification Test needs your help -- Call for volunteers! To: qa , dev Hi All, We have made some progress on the 4.1 Feature Verification Test (FVT) execution with help from Edwin, Maryna and Liu Ping and will get even more done with upcoming helping from Nadya and Simon. But we still have a lot of work to do. We still have 945 testcases to run. Completing these tests is critical to finish feature FVT before February 13th, so we can start the beta for AOO 4.1 on time as scheduled [1]. We need your help. Even if you don't consider yourself a "tester", you can still help. You just need to be familiar with the OpenOffice product and be able to follow test instructions and record your results. If every volunteer can do a number of executions, then we will get a great achievement. We need volunteers on Linux Redhat 64bit, Linux Redhat 32bit, Linux Ubuntu 64bit, Mac 10.8/10.9, Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you have interest and can help over the next few weeks, please send a note to the QA mailing list (q...@openoffice.apache.org). If you have a Testlink account[2] send your ID as well as what platform you can help test. You should also get installation sets from trunk [3] and report issues in Bugzilla [4]. Thanks!
