Custom template problem
I am using OO 4.1.1 with Windows 8.1 . I displayed the help item 'creating document templates' and followed the instructions to create the required template (with some difficulty!). Below these instructions it states: To create a document based on the template choose File - New - Templates and Documents, select the template and click Open. However, selecting 'Templates and Documents' takes me back to the screen for creating a template. 'Commands', 'Organise' or any other button does not allow me to find the template (and click Open). Will appreciate guidance. Thanks.

Screen Reader Accessibility
I'm new to the list, having installed Open Office last evening. I was told Open Office would be accessible to Window-Eyes, the screen reader I use. That doesn't seem to be the case for me so far. Is there a set of steps I need to take to activate accessibility? If so, please elaborate. Instructions for this are at the Window-Eyes web site: http://www.gwmicro.com/Support/Knowledge_Base/?kbnumber=GWKB2017 . It says that you may need to reinstall the Java Access Bridge and that you will also need to enable support for assistive technology tools in OpenOffice itself. For this second task, you will unfortunately require sighted assistance. I trust this helps. Re: Screen Reader Accessibility
Thanks. I've followed the steps in the knowledge base article, including restarting my computer after each set of instructions. I can't tell any difference. I have a little vision and can mouse over icons, which is how I have to select Writer. But I get little useful information when I'm in Writer. When I type text, Window-Eyes does not read it back. Does the version I'm using make a difference? I'm using the latest, which I think is 4.1.1. John On 11/13/2014 7:29 AM, Brian Barker wrote: At 06:39 13/11/2014 -0600, John W. Presentation - insert audio link issue - OS X Yosemi
If I create a presentation, and then in the body of a slide click - insert - video or sound - sound - and select an mp3 file, it tells me [on my Macbok] that the audio format is unsupported. A wav file works OK. On my other machine [also OS X Yosemi] there's no issue. is this an OO problem or an OS X setup issue? tnx — jt - j...@jt-mj.net "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while." - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

I can't get a new folder to open when I click on the icon in the task bar. I used to get it to work, but it doesn't work now. I also wanted to upgrade, but Norton says the site given its unsafe. What is a safe site to upgrade?
Re: Screen Reader Accessibility
John, Sorry to say, you've received bad information. Windows-Eyes is not natively interoperable with IAccessible2 based applications. GWMicro can build custom interfaces, and as of the 8.4 that does not include supoort for Apache OpenOffice or LibreOffice. As both projects have removed the Java Access Bridge kludge needed to use a Java JRE Accessibility Interface--they do not work with Windows-Eyes. Windows-Eyes does fine with MS UIA applications like Office 2010 or 2013--and offers heavy discounts for users with those office suites installed. JAWS, does a bit better with IAccessibile2 AOO or LibreOffice But, if you are going to use either OpenSource Office product, the NVDA open source project is miles ahead in their support of IAccessible2 (with continued support for Java and MS UIA based Assistive Technology as well). Rita, What does "Does not work" mean? Are you getting an error message or does nothing happen? What operating system are you using? Where are you trying to download the update from? Please respond to the users list so that all of us can assist you. Since you are not subscribed to the users list you may miss responses. Plain text emails are preferred on the users list. Re: Screen Reader Accessibility
Thanks, guys. Very interesting. I have NVDA, but I'm not crazy about using it much. I can hardly keep track of Window-Eyes commands, let alone learning those of another screen reader. Does System Access work with Open Office. The whole problem started when I accidentally deleted Office Starter 2010 from my Windows 7 computer recently. I don't have the bucks to upgrade to the full version of Microsoft Office. Window-Eyes didn't work with the starter package either because it doesn't have the add ins to make it work. I've been using Jarte for a word processor, which Window-Eyes will work with. But I'm not the only user on this machine. Thus, the need for another office suite. Re: Fw: New Folder
Please only use http://www.openoffice.org/download to get the new versions of Apache OpenOffice. The site will send you to sourceforge ** that is ok **. If Norton still shoot the warning, please ignore it and continue on. Open Office Spreadsheet issue
Hi...I didn't see this in the FAQ's so here it goes. Everytime I open the spreadsheet everything is super duper small. It says Arial 10 but it's not. It is micro small. It takes me forever to open it up where it can even be used. I have deleted and re-install 4.1.1 OpOff. What did I do wrong? Darrell
